Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez, Trevor Story return

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 11:57:28 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez and SS Trevor Story are back in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Shelby Miller Saturday, June 25. In addition, INF Daniel Descalso will bat sixth and play first base, while C Tony Wolters starts behind the plate and bats eighth. 1B Mark Reynolds and C Nick Hundley are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez is batting .317 with five homers and 17 RBI through 79 June at-bats, while Story is hitting .282 with four homers and 13 RBI this month. Both players should be viewed as viable fantasy options this afternoon. Wolters is hitless in his last 12 at-bats and should be avoided in all formats, while Descalso is nothing more than an inexpensive flier option.

Rockies | Mark Reynolds leaves the yard twice

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 20:51:50 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Mark Reynolds rediscovered his power stroke on Monday, June 20, against the Miami Marlins, bashing a pair of solo home runs for his first multi-homer game since July 11, 2015, and the 23rd of his career.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds is still striking out at his usual prodigious rate, suggesting his .290 average is going to keep going down, but it is getting harder and harder to knock him for that. Four of his six homers on the season have come since June 4, so now may not be a bad time for owners to pick him off waivers if they are in need of some help in power categories.

Rockies | Sluggers firing blanks against Miami

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 13:49:50 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is 0-for-12 in the Miami Marlins series. Also, 2B DJ LeMahieu is 1-for-11, 1B Mark Reynolds is 0-for-8 and SS Trevor Story is 1-for-9.

Fantasy Tip: The Miami Marlins pitchers have been strong against the Rockies, which makes it more likely you should bench these sluggers in future matchups. These are likely slumps that will be reversed once Colorado moves on to the next opponent.

Rockies | COL makes several lineup changes

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 08:30:44 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Ryan Raburn, 1B Mark Reynolds and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Sunday, June 19. INF Daniel Descalso will bat sixth and play first base, OF Brandon Barnes will bat seventh and play left field and C Tony Wolters will start behind the plate and hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso is 13-for-32 (.406) with a double, triple, home run and 11 RBI through 32 at-bats this season and is an excellent source of salary cap relief in DFS. Wolters is worth considering as an inexpensive flier behind the plate but Barnes should be avoided in all fantasy formats today.

Rockies | Trevor Story, Mark Reynolds resting

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 15:11:00 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story and 1B Mark Reynolds are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 8. SS Cristhian Adames is starting at the 6 and is hitting eighth, while 2B Daniel Descalso is at first base and batting seventh against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Kenta Maeda.

Fantasy Tip: Both Adames and Descalso are light-hitting middle infielders who don't attract much fantasy attention at all in any format. They are both desperation deep sleepers in DFS tonight against Maeda while hitting near the bottom of the batting order.

Rockies | Mark Reynolds stays hot at the dish

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 06:26:13 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Mark Reynolds went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run during the Rockies' 4-3 loss to the San Diego Padres Saturday, June 5.

Fantasy Tip: The veteran has revolutionized his approach at the dish and sits with a solid .301/.372/.436 slash line, but the seven-time, 20-bomb hitter launched just his third home run of the season Saturday. Still, Reynolds is receiving the lion's share of starts at first base and calls hitter-friendly Coors Field home. In deep mixed leagues and NL-only setups, Reynolds is a solid starting option.

Rockies | Day off for Mark Reynolds

Tue, 31 May 2016 15:05:58 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Mark Reynolds is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 31. 2B Daniel Descalso is starting at first base and is hitting seventh against Cincinnati Reds SP Jon Moscot.

Fantasy Tip: The matchup is a nice one for Descalso, but the utility infielder barely moves the fantasy needle in any format. Don't let his .529 average (9-for-17) fool you into thinking he's not a light-hitting bat. Descalso is a deep sleeper in daily action based solely on the fact that he's playing at Coors Field tonight.

Rockies | Trevor Story, Mark Reynolds out Sunday

Sun, 22 May 2016 09:47:06 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story and 1B Mark Reynolds are not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Juan Nicasio Sunday, May 22. INF Cristhian Adames will play shortstop and bat second, while INF Daniel Descalso will bat seventh and play first base. In addition, OF Carlos Gonzalez is back in the lineup, batting cleanup and playing right field.

Fantasy Tip: Adames is batting .300 (6-for-20) over the past month after beginning the season with just one hit in his first 18-bats, while Descalso is 3-for-6 with two RBI this year. Use them in daily fantasy lineups only if you're desperate for salary cap relief.

Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez gets a rare rest

Sat, 21 May 2016 12:47:26 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez is not in the lineup on Saturday, May 21, against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jon Niese. Gonzalez has played in 40 of the Rockies' first 41 games, starting in 39. 1B Mark Reynolds will bat fourth, OF Gerardo Parra will slide over from left to right field and hit sixth, while OF Ryan Raburn will replace Parra in left and bat fifth.

Fantasy Tip: It's been a rough stretch at the plate to say the least for CarGo, who is batting .186 with a solo homer - which also accounts for his only RBI - this month and hitless over his last four games to boot. Raburn is always a savvy DFS play against left-handers, while Reynolds is sporting a .328 average despite striking out at his usual heavy rate. Both Raburn and Reynolds are sensible low-cost daily options today given how inconsistent Niese has been this season.

Rockies | Mark Reynolds pounding lefties

Fri, 20 May 2016 19:16:30 -0700

Colorado Rockies 1B Mark Reynolds is hitting .351 against left-handed pitching this season.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds is still striking out a bunch, and his .328 average is bound to regress closer to his .232 career mark at some point. In the meantime, he is worth a look in NL-only formats, and he could be a sneaky DFS option against lefties.
