Brewers | Chris Carter hits 18th homer

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 05:27:02 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Chris Carter hit his 18th home run of the season Thursday, June 16, in an 8-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Fantasy Tip: Carter hit .199 all of last year with 24 homers and 64 RBIs in Houston. That was in nearly 130 games. One third of the way through this season Carter already has three-fourths of his homers and two-thirds of his RBIs from a year ago. Carter remains a risky play in most leagues, however, because of his .231 batting mark.

Brewers | Ryan Braun, Chris Carter out Wednesday

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 10:21:48 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun and 1B Chris Carter are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 15, with OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis hitting cleanup and OF Ramon Flores hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: There's not much in the numbers that suggests Nieuwenhuis is a good play against Johnny Cueto today. Because he's hitting cleanup, though, he's a basement option you can't ignore in DFS. Flores has no fantasy prowess.

Brewers | Chris Carter clubs two homers

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 21:04:39 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Chris Carter homered twice and drove in all five runs in a 5-4 win over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday, June 7.

Fantasy Tip: Everyone knows the book on Carter: prodigious power, low average and lots of strikeouts. After his big night, Carter is now tied for fifth in the majors in home runs (16) and tied for 18th in RBI (39). He's hitting a cool .227 for the season, however, which limits his appeal to larger mixed leagues.

Brewers | Chris Carter goes deep in win

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 20:04:49 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Chris Carter went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday, June 2.

Fantasy Tip: Carter's poor average limits his value, but with 40-homer upside, he is still worth using in NL-only leagues.

Brewers | Chris Carter gets rest day

Sun, 22 May 2016 15:03:48 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Chris Carter did not start Sunday, May 22, as he got a day off to rest. OF Ramon Flores started in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Carter is enjoying a renaissance year, if you call 12 home runs and an average near .250 a renaissance. Still, in his final couple years with the Houston Astros it was not out of the question for him to bat .200 with 40 homers. Carter is doing well enough for now to merit fantasy consideration.

Brewers | Ryan Braun returns to lineup

Sun, 22 May 2016 08:39:24 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (back) is back in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard Sunday, May 22, batting third. In addition, INF Hernan Perez will play third base and bat sixth, while 1B/OF Ramon Flores will start at first base and bat eighth. 1B Chris Carter and INF Aaron Hill receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Braun has been having a tremendous season and he should be re-inserted into all fantasy lineups without hesitation. On the other hand, Perez and Flores should be avoided due to the unfavorable matchup against Syndergaard.

Brewers | Chris Carter crushes 12th home run

Thu, 19 May 2016 15:33:03 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Chris Carter went 1-for-4 with his 12th home run of the season Thursday, May 19, opposite the Chicago Cubs. He finished with one run scored and one RBI, not to mention three strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Carter is settled in very nicely in his new home, and he actually has a legitimate shot to surpass his career high of 37 homers set a couple of years ago. While his batting average currently sits at .247, his owners will gladly take that, considering he's always well below that. Regardless, as long as he continues to contribute stellar power numbers, he's a good slugger to have in any league.

Brewers | Chris Carter ends long slump

Sun, 15 May 2016 14:52:39 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Chris Carter snapped a seven-game streak during which he went hitless in 22 at-bats Sunday, May 15, by going 3-for-4 with a solo homer against the San Diego Padres.

Fantasy Tip: Carter's batting average (.254) has slipped to the level most owners have come to expect from him, but he is still tied for third in the National League with 11 homers despite his recent dry spell. It is worth noting for daily fantasy owners he has done most of his damage against right-handers and at home. He'll get both over each of the next three days as Milwaukee hosts the Chicago Cubs beginning on Tuesday.

Brewers | Chris Carter takes a seat

Sat, 14 May 2016 14:19:14 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Chris Carter is out of the lineup Saturday, May 14, with C Jonathan Lucroy shifting to first base and hitting cleanup. C Martin Maldonado is hitting eighth and squatting behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Lucroy is an obvious consideration daily. Maldonado is hitting just .095 on the season, and he's not a good start against Luis Perdomo.

Brewers | Jonathan Lucroy has Friday off

Fri, 06 May 2016 11:38:10 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy is out of the lineup Friday, May 6, with C Martin Maldonado hitting eighth. 1B Chris Carter moved up to hit cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Maldonado has had a miserable year and isn't worth starting. Carter has been a man possessed with five homers in the last seven days. He's a high-end start against Tim Adleman.
