Astros | Chris Carter sitting Tuesday

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 15:31:31 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Chris Carter is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 7. 1B Jon Singleton is starting at first base and hitting eighth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber.

Fantasy Tip: Singleton ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has only three hits in 20 at-bats for the 'Stros since being called up, but his upside is high and he has plenty of power for a youngster. However, he's a weak and risky play on FantasyScore against Kluber tonight.

Astros | Chris Carter will not start

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 09:23:42 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Chris Carter is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz Saturday, July 4. 1B Jon Singleton will start at first base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Carter ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should return to the lineup in the near future. Singleton ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) drove in three runs in his last game but is hitting .188 since being recalled and is not a great option.

Astros | Chris Carter ends homer drought

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 17:39:03 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Chris Carter went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored in a 9-6 loss to the New York Yankees Saturday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: It was the first homer for Carter ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) in his last nine games, and while he has 13 on the year, he is also hitting just .200 with 101 strikeouts. Carter's power is legit, but trusting him at FantasyScore is going to burn you more times than it pays off.

Astros | Chris Carter resting Thursday

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 16:10:45 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Chris Carter is not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 25. SS Marwin Gonzalez is starting at first and hitting eighth against New York Yankees SP Adam Warren.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is a light-hitting utility infielder for the 'Stros and should be low on your list of FantasyScore shortstops to use this evening. Gonzalez is hitting only .229 (24-for-105) with two home runs and 11 RBI against right-handers this year.

Astros | Chris Carter dropped to eight-hole

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 15:32:33 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Chris Carter is batting eighth against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez Friday, June 12.

Fantasy Tip: At this stage of his career, Carter's ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) value has been established. He has tremendous power and projects to post 30 home runs annually. However, batting below .230 is also likely, and Carter is currently sporting a .199 mark. FantasyScore owners should aim higher Friday, especially against Felix Hernandez. Batting eighth hurts his upside in all fantasy formats, too.

Astros | Chris Carter out of the lineup

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 08:46:41 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Chris Carter is not in the starting lineup Saturday, June 6. SS Marwin Gonzalez will start at first base and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Carter ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been doing better at the plate and is just receiving a day off. Gonzalez ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has struggled at the plate recently with only one hit in his last seven games. Owners on FantasyScore may want to look for other options to use.

Astros | Chris Carter in cleanup spot Thursday

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 09:18:13 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Chris Carter is hitting cleanup against Baltimore Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen Thursday, June 4.

Fantasy Tip: Carter ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is currently riding an 11-game hitting streak in which he's 14-for-36 (.389) with three home runs and nine RBI to raise his average to .205 on the year. Carter mashed two solo bombs last night. He's finally starting to heat up, and although he doesn't necessarily dominate southpaws, he's giving more bang for his buck now on FantasyScore.

Astros | Chris Carter has 11-game hit streak

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 04:35:43 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Chris Carter extended his hitting streak to 11 games Wednesday, June 3, with two home runs against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: Carter ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been a major pain in leagues where batting average is top priority. However, his average has risen from .157 to .205 during the streak and Carter is showing signs of turning it around. He's still worth the play in daily leagues because that power is too good to pass up.

Astros | Chris Carter finally hitting

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 16:45:56 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Chris Carter has a season-long nine-game hitting streak, and he's hitting .367 over that span.

Fantasy Tip: Carter ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is starting to show signs of life after hitting just .160 (12-for-75) with two home runs and six RBI in the season's opening month. His average is now just under .200, and he has eight long balls on the year. There's a good chance he was dropped by his previous owner, so double check your waiver wire if you're in need of power. At FantasyScore, now may be the best time to use him at a discount.

Astros | Chris Carter sees dip in HR production

Tue, 26 May 2015 17:43:48 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Chris Carter is hitting a home run in every 21.7 at-bats this season, which is more than the 13.7 at-bats he needed last season to hit a home run. Carter's home run rate was the best among qualified hitters in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Carter ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has struggled with his batting average again this season but does have seven home runs. He is hitting .170 at the plate so far in 2015. Carter has some value because of his power potential but is a risky option on FantasyScore because of his batting average.
