Mariners | Adam Lind out vs. southpaw

Fri, 27 May 2016 16:57:29 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins left-handed SP Pat Dean Friday, May 27. 1B Dae-Ho Lee is making the start at first base and is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Lee has shown impressive power in a limited role for the Mariners this year (six home runs in 64 at-bats). Half of his long balls have come off lefties, too, so he's not a bad under-the-radar sleeper selection in daily formats tonight.

Mariners | Adam Lind drives in six

Wed, 25 May 2016 23:39:10 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and six RBI in a 13-3 win over the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday, May 25. It was Lind's third multi-RBI game in his last eight.

Fantasy Tip: It has been feast or famine for Lind recently, collecting four HRs and 13 RBI in his last eight games with all the production coming in three contests. In the other five he's 2-for-16. Considering most of 2016 has been straight famine for Lind, it has to be considered a step in the right direction. Still, his value remains confined to AL-only and optimistic deep mixed owners.

Mariners | Seth Smith, Adam Lind out

Mon, 23 May 2016 17:39:00 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith and 1B Adam Lind are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill Monday, May 23. OF Franklin Gutierrez will start in right field and is batting second. 1B Dae-ho Lee will start at first base and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Gutierrez is hitting only .200 with two home runs and five RBI this month, so owners should be able to find better options to use. Lee is hitting .218 with three home runs and eight RBI against left-handed pitchers this season and can be an option for desperate owners in daily fantasy leagues.

Mariners | Seth Smith, Adam Lind resting Saturday

Sat, 21 May 2016 10:40:04 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith and 1B Adam Lind are out of the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb Saturday, May 21. 1B Dae-ho Lee will bat fifth and play first base, while OF Franklin Gutierrez will bat seventh and play left field.

Fantasy Tip: Smith and Lind are resting Saturday because the club is facing a left-handed pitcher. Lee is batting .273 with six home runs and 12 RBI in just 55 at-bats and makes an excellent source of cap relief in DFS. On the other hand, Gutierrez is just 9-for-51 (.176) at the plate this year and should be avoided this afternoon.

Mariners | Adam Lind not in the lineup

Sun, 15 May 2016 11:33:16 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Sunday, May 15. 1B Dae-ho Lee will start at first base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Lee is hitting .241 with three home runs and six RBI against left-handed pitchers this season and could be a cheap sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues.

Mariners | Adam Lind hits second home run

Sun, 15 May 2016 05:58:16 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and four RBI during the Mariners' 9-7 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Saturday, May 14.

Fantasy Tip: Lind entered the outing with a .217/.240/.272 slash line and just one home run and five RBI, so he essentially doubled his output in a single outing. Lind has been putting in extra time with hitting coach Edgar Martinez, and fantasy owners in deep leagues with the ability to bench Lind can remain patient as he works his way out of the funk. View his showing Saturday as a step in the right direction.

Mariners | Adam Lind struggling offensively

Fri, 13 May 2016 17:45:13 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind has been swinging at an unusually high percentage of pitches outside of the strike zone this season, according to statistics compiled by Fangraphs.com. Lind has swung at 39.1 percent of non-strikes in 2016, compared to 31.4 percent for his career, and the trend is concerning because he is seeing roughly the same percentage of strikes. In addition, Lind has struggled mightily against right-handed pitching this year; he is batting just .197 in 80 at-bats versus righties despite having a .291 lifetime mark against them in over 3,000 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: Entering play Friday, May 13, Lind was batting just .213 with one home run and five RBI through 27 games and he is doing extra work with hitting coach Edgar Martinez in an attempt to break out of his offensive funk. He should be avoided in all fantasy formats while he is in the midst of this slump.

Mariners | Seth Smith, Adam Lind sit vs. lefty

Tue, 10 May 2016 17:45:02 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith (rest) and 1B Adam Lind (rest) are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 10, against Tampa Bay Rays SP Drew Smyly.

Fantasy Tip: Once again, Smith and Lind are being rested against a southpaw. Dae-ho Lee will pick up another start filling in at first base, and could be a worthwhile dart throw for owners in daily leagues due to his power potential. Meanwhile, Nelson Cruz is taking over right field, and with Kyle Seager serving as the designated hitter, Luis Sardinas gets to start, but isn't worth using in any format.

Mariners | Adam Lind, Seth Smith sitting

Mon, 09 May 2016 16:00:04 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith (rest) and 1B Adam Lind (rest) are not in the starting lineup Monday, May 9, against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore. OF Franklin Gutierrez is starting for Smith, batting fifth, while 1B Dae-ho Lee is in for Lind, batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: This is just standard protocol with a lefty on the hill. It's hard to recommend starting either of the replacement players, as Gutierrez is hitting just .216 on the year, while Lee has proven to be a boom-or-bust bat in the early going. The latter does have four homers in 39 at-bats, though, so he could be a decent dart throw.

Mariners | Adam Lind, Seth Smith sit

Sat, 07 May 2016 13:33:57 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind and OF Seth Smith are out of the lineup Saturday, May 7, against a left-handed starter. 1B Dae-ho Lee is hitting eighth, and OF Franklin Gutierrez is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Lee has a couple homers in seven at-bats the last week, and he's a wild-card flyer against Dallas Keuchel. Gutierrez hasn't done much yet this season, but he has a lengthy history of success against lefties. He's a basement flyer to consider.
