Mariners | Adam Lind has another solid night

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 22:38:14 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind went 2-for-3 with an RBI Saturday, June 25, against the St. Louis Cardinals. He has a homer and four RBIs in his first two games against St. Louis pitching.

Fantasy Tip: Lind has stepped up with three homers and seven RBIs over his past seven games. He is a must-start in all AL-only fantasy leagues, deeper mixed formats and DFS play.

Mariners | Adam Lind hits walk-off home run

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 22:56:40 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, June 24, to give the M's a 4-3 win.

Fantasy Tip: Lind's power has been respectable recently -- five home runs in his last 11 games -- but the veteran continues to hit for a low average, particularly in June (9-for-53; .170). His power plays in AL-only circuits for sure, but his appeal doesn't extend much beyond that until he gets his average up.

Mariners | SEA shifts lineup for lefty

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 07:36:50 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind, OF Nori Aoki and OF Seth Smith are out of the lineup Thursday, June 23. SS Ketel Marte is leading off, OF Franklin Gutierrez hits second and 1B Dae-ho Lee hits fifth. OF Leonys Martin moved down to the eighth spot.

Fantasy Tip: Marte is hitting .290 with one RBI this month. He doesn't do much past hitting singles, but he has upside at leadoff against Daniel Norris. Gutierrez has a .298-6-18 line in 84 at-bats against lefties, and he's a low-end option. Lee has a .327-3-11 line this month, and he pounds lefties. He's a solid option today. Martin had that binge earlier this year before he got hurt, but his upside is limited against lefties. He's a low-end consideration today.

Mariners | Adam Lind connects on 10th homer

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 22:14:02 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind finished 3-for-6 with a two-run homer Monday, June 20, in a 12-inning road loss versus the Detroit Tigers.

Fantasy Tip: Lind entered play tonight batting .139 with three home runs and four RBI in June (both of which had come over his previous seven games), so he needed an effort like this one to guard against the possibility of losing playing time to Dae-Ho Lee against right-handers. Despite a very good month in May (.282, five homers, 20 RBI), Lind isn't consistently productive enough to trust yet in most casual leagues.

Mariners | Seattle makes several lineup changes

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 08:15:17 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Franklin Gutierrez, 1B Dae-ho Lee and C Chris Iannetta are back in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP David Price Sunday, June 19. In addition, OF Shawn O'Malley will bat ninth and play left field. OFs Seth Smith and Nori Aoki and 1B Adam Lind are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: The Mariners are facing a left-handed starter today, hence the high number of lineup changes. Gutierrez is hitting .298 with five home runs and 13 RBI in 57 at-bats over the past month, while Iannetta is batting .333 with two home runs and six RBI over the past two weeks. Lee is also faring well this year, with 10 homers and 27 RBI in 118 at-bats, although he has cooled off somewhat. All three players are decent yet inexpensive options for daily fantasy games this afternoon.

Mariners | Franklin Gutierrez not starting

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 12:31:44 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Franklin Gutierrez is not in the lineup against the Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello on Saturday, June 18, after going 3-for-5 with two homers and six RBI on Friday, June 17. OF Seth Smith is drawing the start in right field instead and will bat second. 1B Adam Lind will man first base and hit sixth while C Steve Clevenger will serve as the backstop and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Gutierrez has made three consecutive starts prior to today, but that is only because Seattle has faced left-handers each time. He has been sitting against right-handers, against whom he is hitting only .147 in limited at-bats. Gutierrez is a worthwhile gamble in deeper leagues anytime he faces a southpaw, however, as he is hitting .299 with five homers and 17 RBI against them this season. Most owners can ignore Smith, Lind and Clevenger until further notice.

Mariners | Seth Smith, Adam Lind out

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 13:11:57 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith and 1B Adam Lind are not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Roenis Elias Friday, June 17. OF Franklin Gutierrez will start at right field and is batting second, while 1B Dae-ho Lee will start at first base and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Gutierrez is batting .274 with three home runs and 11 RBI against left-handed pitchers this season and should be a decent starting candidate for fantasy owners. Lee is hitting .359 with three home runs and 11 RBI this month and should be considered by fantasy owners.

Mariners | Three Mariners out Thursday

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 07:30:54 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind, OF Seth Smith and OF Leonys Martin are out of the lineup Thursday, June 16. SS Ketel Marte is leading off, OF Franklin Gutierrez hits second and 1B Dae-ho Lee is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Lee has a .333 with three homers and eight RBI in 36 at-bats this month. He's a lower-middle option against Blake Snell. Marte is hitting .242 this month, but he has upside in the leadoff spot in the basement area of DFS. Gutierrez hits lefties much better than righties, which makes him a basement option as well.

Mariners | Adam Lind out vs. lefty

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 12:26:30 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays left-handed SP Drew Smyly Wednesday, June 15. 1B Dae-Ho Lee is starting at first base and is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Lind typically grabs pine against southpaws, so nothing out of the ordinary here. Lee has been a success for the M's in limited action this year, with a .296 average, 10 home runs and 24 RBI in 108 at-bats. Six of those 10 dingers have come against lefties, too. Lee is a boom-or-bust daily pick, though, but he has appeal against the struggling Smyly.

Mariners | Adam Lind taking a seat Sunday

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 12:18:54 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind, OF Seth Smith, C Steve Clevenger and OF Nori Aoki are out of the lineup against Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels on Sunday, June 12, after drawing starts on Saturday, June 11. OF Franklin Gutierrez is in right field and hitting second, 1B Dae-Ho Lee is at first and batting fifth, C Chris Iannetta is behind the plate and hitting seventh, while SS Shawn O'Malley is in left field and batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gutierrez is 4-for-12 with a homer in his career against Hamels and is the only one of the bunch that merits any consideration in fantasy today, although owners can probably find better alternatives with a full state of games today. Lee, who is batting .308 with 10 homers and 24 RBI, is worth adding going forward as there is speculation he will start seeing more playing time ahead of Lind against right-handers.
