Marlins | Michael Morse sitting again

Fri, 22 May 2015 12:57:20 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is not in the starting lineup against the Baltimore Orioles Friday, May 22. 1B Justin Bour is starting at first base and batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has been a disaster this season, and he appears to be losing playing time. He should be replaced in the majority of seasonal formats. In limited action, Bour has produced at the dish and currently sports a .429/.487/.571 slash line through 39 plate appearances. Just note, first base isn't typically an advised position to chase cheap fliers in daily contests.

Marlins | Michael Morse returns to the pine

Thu, 21 May 2015 07:16:32 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is not in the starting lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday, May 21. 1B Justin Bour is batting sixth and playing first base Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: With Morse ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) reeling along a 1-for-20 slide with a .095 on-base percentage, there is no reason to start him in any fantasy format. The player pool is deepest at first base and in the outfield, too, so seasonal players should look for an upgrade. Bour ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is 14-for-32 to start the season with a 1.094 OPS, and he could continue to eat into Morse's playing time if both continue their current trends. Consider Bour an upside source of cap relief in FantasyScore contests Thursday.

Marlins | Mike Morse sitting vs. Arizona

Mon, 18 May 2015 13:07:29 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is not in the starting lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday, May 18. 1B Justin Bour is batting fourth and playing first base Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has been a mess at the dish this season and is currently rolling through a 8-for-43 funk with a .448 OPS. He should be replaced in the majority of seasonal formats, especially considering the replacement level at first base and outfield is high. Bour ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has performed well when given an opportunity (career .323/.396/.424 slash line through 111 plate appearances), but FantasyScore players should view him as nothing more than a low-priced flier.

Marlins | Michael Morse on the bench

Sat, 16 May 2015 07:20:33 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is not in the starting lineup Saturday, May 16. 1B Jeff Baker will be the starting first baseman for the Marlins.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should be back in the lineup soon. Baker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has gone 4-for-15 at the plate this season and is probably is not the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Marlins | Justin Bour continues to play

Wed, 06 May 2015 08:04:24 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Justin Bour is in the lineup for the third straight game Wednesday, May 6, in place of 1B Michael Morse.

Fantasy Tip: Bour ($1,600, 3.2% of your cap) is 7-for-14 on the season, but that's too small of a sample size to give confidence in playing him on FantasyScore. He's 1-for-5 in his past two starts. If the trend continues, it's bigger news for the struggling Morse, whose .193-2-8 line needs to improve.

Marlins | Michael Morse sitting again

Tue, 05 May 2015 13:10:14 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is not in the starting lineup for the second straight day Tuesday, May 5. 1B Justin Bour is starting at first base and hitting fifth in the batting order against Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg.

Fantasy Tip: Morse is struggling (.193-2-8) this year, which has led to more time for Bour ($1,600, 3.2% of cap), who hit his first home run of the season last night. Bour, however, isn't the best option for FantasyScore owners tonight while facing Strasburg.

Marlins | Michael Morse sitting vs. Nats

Mon, 04 May 2015 12:50:25 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is not in the starting lineup against the Washington Nationals Monday, May 4. 1B Justin Bour is batting fifth and playing first base Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Morse ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) in FantasyScore contests Monday. He is really struggling and currently in a 8-for-54 funk with 19 strikeouts. Bour ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has reached base in seven of 10 plate appearances, and could be a sneaky daily play hitting in the middle of a respectable Miami lineup. Just remember it is a small sample size, and facing Jordan Zimmermann shouldn't be viewed as a plus-matchup.

Marlins | Michael Morse draws in

Sun, 03 May 2015 08:12:27 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is back in the lineup Sunday, May 3, against the Philadelphia Phillies. Morse will hit fifth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Morse ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has two home runs on the season but is hitting for just a .202 average. Morse has upside in GPP tournaments, but until his .263 BABIP starts rebounding, FantasyScore owners don't need to worry about him too much.

Marlins | Michael Morse not in lineup

Sat, 02 May 2015 11:36:26 -0700

Miami Marlins 1B Michael Morse is not in the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday, May 2. INF Jeff Baker will start at first base and bat fifth.

Fantasy Tip: The struggling Morse ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is being given the day off by manager Mike Redmond. He is 6-for-39 in his last 10 games and is only batting .202 through 22 games this season. FantasyScore owners should be able to find better options than Baker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap).
