San Francisco Giants OF Michael Morse (calf) played in a minor league game and homered Thursday, March 20, and said he felt great. It was his first game in 12 days, and he expects to return Friday, March 21, to major league action. OF Angel Pagan (back) also played and looked good. 2B Marco Scutaro (back), however, didn't play and is less likely to be on the active roster for the start of the season.

San Francisco Giants OF Michael Morse (wrist) was swinging off a tee with a fungo bat a week after his wrist surgery last October to shave down a bone spur, and he was taking full swings in the cage before Thanksgiving. Morse expects to be a full-go in workouts starting Thursday, Feb. 20. Morse lost most of his power while battling through his wrist injury last season. His surgery barely left a scar, and he didn't even need to follow a rehab program. Morse is expected to be the team's everyday starting left fielder.

Giants | Expected to carry five outfielders

San Francisco Giants general manager Brian Sabean said the team is likely to carry five outfielders on their 25-man roster because OF Michael Morse will be replaced frequently during the late innings by a better defensive player and just to have another one "in abeyance."
