Carolina Panthers LB Luke Kuechly will not be fined after being ejected in the team's Week 7 game for making contact with an official. The NFL informed head coach Ron Rivera that Kuechly should not have been ejected for the incident.

The Carolina Panthers will not discipline DE Greg Hardy at this point after being found guilty of assaulting and threatening his ex-girlfriend until after an appeal is heard. "We are in a process and we're letting the process play its way out," coach Ron Rivera said. "Because of that, we're following through with the situation, set of circumstances. We're not trying to do anything below board or way above board.
"We're trying to go through the process as we understand it. We're going to do the best we can. The players have handled it tremendously well. It's been really hard on them I know, as far as those things. But again, get on the football field and be able to handle those situations, circumstances, that's what the guys have done."

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (ribs) could be held out of the team's Week 1 game by head coach Ron Rivera. Rivera may hold him back to make sure he is healthy for the rest of the season.

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (ankle) tested his surgically repaired ankle Tuesday, June 17, and did more than head coach Ron Rivera was expecting. Newton did not participate in any team drills after taking three and five-step drops on passes to wide receivers. "I think I'm on schedule to make a speedy recovery," Newton said after practice. "We are in the last curve and I am just trying to be smart about it, do everything that the trainers ask of me and more and see where that gets me."
Fantasy Tip: Newton appears to be right on track in his recovery from ankle surgery. As long as there are no setbacks, he should be good to go for training camp.

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said it is more important to protect QB Cam Newton than to get another offensive weapon. "I think protecting him (is more important),"Rivera said. "You have so many opportunities to get play makers on the field. Other than the quarterback there are five other guys who can make plays for you. I think right now what we've done is bring in guys who have the ability to make plays for us. I feel very comfortable with that."

Contrary to previous reports, Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said the team would be interested in free-agent WR DeSean Jackson (Eagles). "We'd be interested. He's an intriguing player and we'll take a look at him," Rivera said. "I just got word and this is surprising to hear. He's an explosive player who has great vertical speed and is strong going to the ball."
