Twins | Kurt Suzuki to lose starter job?

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 12:25:03 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki could lose his starting job if the Twins' pursuit of a starting catcher at the trade deadline works out. The Twins are looking at targets like Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski, San Diego Padres C Derek Norris, Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy, and Detroit Tigers C Alex Avila.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has lost some of his punch at the plate, as his batting average has dropped to .227 this season. Keep an eye on what the Twins do before July 31 and be prepared to drop Suzuki outright if he loses a chunk of his playing time.

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Shane Greene Sunday, July 12. C Eric Fryer will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and will return after the break. Fryer went 2-for-3 with two RBI in his first game since joining the team, but owners should be able to find a more consistent option to use on FantasyScore.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki out Saturday

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 13:13:46 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is out of the starting lineup Saturday, July 4, against the Kansas City Royals. C Chris Herrmann will start behind the plate and hit eighth in the lineup against RHP Joe Blanton.

Fantasy Tip: Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has gone 0-for-8 in his last three starts while drawing two walks. Herrmann hits for a pedestrian .200 batting average against righties, and he lacks upside. FantasyScore owners could consider Herrmann for GPP usage if they're trying to punt the position, but there are better options available.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki back in Tuesday

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 13:54:44 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki (throat) is back in the lineup Tuesday, June 30, after taking a warmup throw to his throat in the game Monday, June 29. However, he's expected to sit out Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($3,100, 6.2% of cap), who's hitting .224 (47-for-210) with three home runs and 21 RBI on the season, is a midrange catching option on FantasyScore that doesn't have much power upside.

Twins | Kurt Suzuki not in lineup Saturday

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 10:19:36 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza Saturday, June 27. C Chris Herrmann will start behind the plate and bat fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($3,200, 6.1% of cap) is getting a regular day off, with the team playing a day game following a night game. Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is only batting .182 this season and is 0-for-4 in his career against Garza, so he should be avoided in FantasyScore.

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta Sunday, June 21. C Chris Herrmann will start at catcher and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) should return to the lineup in the next game or two. Herrmann ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is doing better at the plate this month but is still hitting .196 this season and is not a great option.

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 11:28:23 -0700

Minnesota Twins C Kurt Suzuki is back in the starting lineup against the Texas Rangers Sunday, June 14, batting sixth against SP Nick Martinez.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) returns to action after getting the day off Saturday, June 13. He is only batting .203 over the last four weeks, so he is not a great FantasyScore option.
