Giants | Santiago Casilla struggles in non-save situation |
Tue, 28 Jun 2016 23:51:11 -0700
San Francisco Giants RP Santiago Casilla surrendered three runs on three hits in one inning of work against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday, June 28. He also walked two and struck out one.
Fantasy Tip: Casilla, who hadn't worked since Friday, entered the game with the Giants trailing 10-9 and let the A's build a four-run lead; the Giants would lose, 13-11. That broke a string of six straight scoreless outings, during which Casilla was 5-for-5 on save opportunities. He's obviously not an airtight option as a closer, but the Giants seem willing to work through these hiccups.

Giants | Cory Gearrin notches save |
Sat, 18 Jun 2016 19:37:58 -0700
San Francisco Giants RP Cory Gearrin picked up his second save of the season, allowing one run on one hit over an inning against the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday, June 18. Gearrin filled in for RP Santiago Casilla, who was placed on the paternity list Friday, June 17.
Fantasy Tip: Gearrin isn't a must-add player with Casilla due back in a few days, but file his name away in case Casilla falters or suffers an injury.

Giants | San Fran bullpen will play the matchups |
Fri, 17 Jun 2016 15:06:26 -0700
The San Francisco Giants will play the matchups with their bullpen with RP Santiago Casilla on the paternity list, manager Bruce Bochy said Friday, June 17.
Fantasy Tip: Look for Cory Gearrin and Hunter Strickland to see the save chances, and they're both worth ownership for saves starved teams. It's a fleeting opportunity, though.

Giants | Santiago Casilla notches save |
Sun, 12 Jun 2016 23:26:02 -0700
San Francisco Giants RP Santiago Casilla pitched two-thirds of an inning Sunday, June 12, for his 13th save of the season.
Fantasy Tip: Casilla came under fire after manager Bruce Bochy said he'd use matchups in save situations more often. However, Casilla should still see most of them. His owners can breathe a little easier, but Hunter Strickland should be handcuffed to him.

Giants | Santiago Casilla still best closing option |
Sat, 11 Jun 2016 14:47:47 -0700
San Francisco Giants RP Santiago Casilla is still the best option to close games, according to manager Bruce Bochy. However, Bochy said that he will go with matchups when the opportunity is there.
Fantasy Tip: Casilla is starting to lose his grip on the closer gig as he has allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings this month. Earlier this week, Casilla and Javier Lopez were called upon for one out each in the ninth inning before Hunter Strickland nailed down the final out for the save. Casilla is 12-for-16 in saves, and Strickland is coming on strong. We're not closing the door on Casilla yet, but if Strickland is available in your league, you should handcuff the two.

Giants | Santiago Casilla picks up another L |
Fri, 10 Jun 2016 23:19:21 -0700
San Francisco Giants RP Santiago Casilla allowed a ninth-inning home run to Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner to break a 2-2 tie. It was his second loss in the team's last three games.
Fantasy Tip: More trouble for Casilla, who now has a blown save and two losses in his last four appearances. Manager Bruce Bochy gave Casilla a vote of confidence after the game, indicating he's their closer, but the veteran has made six outings since last recording a save. It might be time to get a little nervous.
