Mets | Curtis Granderson to miss a couple games

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 13:29:08 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (calf) has a right calf strain and is expected to be out of the lineup for at least two games.

Fantasy Tip: Make arrangements to be without Granderson over the weekend. Brandon Nimmo and Alejandro De Aza should see regular playing time and receive a boost in fantasy value in the short term. However, Nimmo is the target of preference in cavernous mixed and NL-only setups. With the All-Star break nearing, New York could be very cautious with Granderson to ensure he is healthy for the second half. Stay tuned for updates.

Mets | Curtis Granderson remains sidelined

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 12:52:23 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (calf) remains out of the starting lineup Thursday, June 30. OF Brandon Nimmo is starting in right field and is hitting leadoff, while 2B/OF Kelly Johnson starts in left and is batting sixth against Chicago Cubs SP John Lackey.

Fantasy Tip: Nimmo has plenty of upside and should be considered in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues with regular playing time in New York's outfield. He doesn't have a ton of fantasy upside in DFS hitting leadoff, though. Johnson is a journeyman utility player that has limited offensive upside at this point of his career. He's a deep DFS sleeper tonight.

Mets | Curtis Granderson scratched late

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 15:16:57 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (calf) was a late scratch against the Washington Nationals Wednesday, June 29. Mets OF Brandon Nimmo draws into the lineup and will bat eighth, and Mets OF Alejandro De Aza will lead off against Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Sub out Granderson where you can Wednesday, and it's likely best to avoid both De Aza and Nimmo given the daunting matchup against Scherzer. The calf injury has hindered Granderson of late, so check back for updates on his status before locking him into your lineups, especially in daily contests.

Mets | Curtis Granderson back in the lineup

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 13:56:07 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (calf) is starting in right field and leading off against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday, June 29.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson has been nursing the nagging calf injury for a few days, so it isn't out of the question to sub him out for a healthy option if you have the luxury in seasonal leagues. He's obviously a significant risk in daily contests because of the matchup and potential aggravation of the calf injury.

Mets | Curtis Granderson has calf strain

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 23:56:45 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (calf) is dealing with a small calf strain, manager Terry Collins said Tuesday, June 28. It's the same reason he sat Sunday, June 26, as he had trouble loosening up after the weather delay.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson should be reserved in all seasonal daily leagues and avoided in DFS until he can officially return and play at least back-to-back games without any setbacks.

Mets | Several NYM regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 08:43:10 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera, OF Curtis Granderson and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Bud Norris Sunday, June 26. INF/OF Kelly Johnson will bat leadoff and play left field, INF Matthew Reynolds will play shortstop and bat second, OF Brandon Nimmo will play right field and bat seventh and C Rene Rivera will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds is 7-for-20 with a home run and six RBI during the month of June and is worth considering as a value play for daily fantasy lineups. Nimmo will be making his MLB debut and possesses plenty of upside, so he could be worth taking a flier on in DFS as well. Johnson and Rivera are a combined 1-for-11 versus Norris and should be avoided Sunday.

Mets | Jose Reyes to lead off when ready

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 14:17:03 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes will move to the top of the order once he arrives from what is expected to be a short minor-league stint, during which time he is expected to play some third base and perhaps some time in center field. OF Curtis Granderson will move to an RBI spot, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: The injured David Wright still lead the Mets with three steals - a clear sign New York needs the speed Reyes can provide even if he is no longer in the prime of his career at 33 years old. Since Yoenis Cespedes and Neil Walker will likely occupy the third and fourth spots in the order on a regular basis, Granderson will probably bat fifth or sixth. Regardless, Granderson's average (.219) and RBI total (21) should both benefit from hitting behind Cespedes and Walker.

Mets | Curtis Granderson sets record

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 19:54:52 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson set a franchise record with his 17th leadoff home run as a Met, the 41st of his career, finishing 2-for-5 with two runs scored in a 6-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday, June 16.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson has become an all-or-nothing hitter. He has enough power to be owned in NL-only leagues, and he is a high-risk, high-reward DFS option.

Pirates | Jameson Taillon flirts with no-hitter

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 20:24:55 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates rookie SP Jameson Taillon took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before it was broken up by a leadoff single from New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson on Tuesday, June 14. Taillon allowed only one other head during his eight-inning, 91-pitch masterpiece and struck out five to earn his first career win.

Fantasy Tip: Taillon settled for a no-decision after giving up three runs over six innings in his first career start against the Mets on Wednesday. The 24-year-old, who is starting in the place of the injured Gerrit Cole, is obviously making a strong case to remain in the rotation and really has nothing left to prove in the minors. Taillon will have his hands full against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, but he is looking every bit like the top prospect he was billed to be and needs to be added in all fantasy leagues.

Mets | Curtis Granderson dropped to third

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 12:47:53 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson was dropped from leadoff to the third spot in the lineup Tuesday, June 14, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson is hitting .320 in the past week (8-for-25) with three home runs. With power like that, the thinking is Granderson will be better utilized in a slot where he can drive in runs. If Alejandro de Aza and Asdrubal Cabrera can set the table ahead of Granderson, then Granderson could clean up.
