Mets | Curtis Granderson has lively night

Tue, 17 May 2016 19:38:38 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson reached base in all four of his plate appearances Tuesday, May 17, against the Washington Nationals. He finished the evening 2-for-2 with his seventh home run of the season, plating one RBI and one run scored. He also had two walks.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson has struggled early on in 2016, but owners may remember he did the same thing last year before heating up and sustaining that momentum for pretty much the rest of the campaign. Perhaps tonight's performance against Max Scherzer is the spark that can get him going.

Sun, 15 May 2016 12:24:44 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson and 3B David Wright are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood Sunday, May 15. OF Alejandro De Aza will start in right field and is batting first, while 3B Eric Campbell will start at third base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza is batting .189 this season and is not a great fantasy option for owners. Owners can also avoid Campbell since he is also hitting under .200 this season.

Mets | Curtis Granderson, Lucas Duda resting

Tue, 10 May 2016 15:48:07 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson and 1B Lucas Duda are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Alex Wood Tuesday, May 10. OF Juan Lagares is starting in right field and hitting leadoff, while 3B Eric Campbell is starting at first base and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Wood has struggled mightily in the Dodgers rotation, but both Lagares and Campbell remain low-end daily commodities. If you're going to choose one as a deep sleeper to save you some salary cap space, it should be Lagares at the top of the order. But keep in mind he's much more useful to the Mets for his glove and not his bat.

Mets | Curtis Granderson a road warrior

Fri, 06 May 2016 11:17:32 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson has reached base in 36 straight road games, which is the longest active streak in baseball.

Fantasy Tip: Despite reaching base consistently on the road, Grandy is hitting only .221 (23-for-104) but does have five home runs and 10 RBI. He still has pop at age 35, but he can't hit lefties and doesn't run much anymore. He's an asset for power and runs in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.

Mets | Several NYM regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 01 May 2016 07:36:28 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson, SS Asdrubal Cabrera and 1B Lucas Duda are not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner Sunday, May 1. OF Juan Lagares will bat leadoff and play right field, INF Wilmer Flores will bat sixth and play shortstop and INF Eric Campbell will bat eighth and play first base. In addition, C Kevin Plawecki has returned to the lineup and will bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson and Duda are resting because a left-handed pitcher is on the mound, while the switch-hitting Cabrera is receiving his first off day of the regular season. Of the replacements in Sunday's lineup, only Lagares has experienced any success at the plate this year, batting .281 with two extra-base hits and two RBI through his first 32 at-bats. Lagares should be viewed as an inexpensive flier option in daily fantasy contests.

Mets | Curtis Granderson takes a seat

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 11:51:20 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 27. OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in right field and is batting leadoff against Cincinnati Reds SP Jon Moscot.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza has just five hits in 26 at-bats (.192) this year but does have a home run, and a spot atop the booming Mets offense could make him worth a deep sleeper selection in daily formats. The matchup for De Aza is favorable, as well.

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs Friday, April 22, against the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Tip: It was a much-needed game for Granderson and his fantasy owners, as he had managed just three RBIs to this point. He is still struggling with a .210 batting average, but he remains a must-start fantasy option due to his power potential.

Mets | Curtis Granderson returns to camp

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 12:36:36 -0800

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (eye) took part in conditioning and fielding drills away from the main group Wednesday, March 2, as he recovers from symptoms of conjunctivitis. The Mets expect him to play in the Grapefruit League opener Friday, March 4.

Fantasy Tip: The Grandy Man will be just fine. He had a fine season at age 35 last year, but he really struggles against lefties. Platoon duties in his future? His overall batting skills are intact, but how much more can you hope for? Granderson is a middle-rounds target to solidify your outfield depth.

Mets | Curtis Granderson has eye issue

Mon, 29 Feb 2016 09:01:59 -0800

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (eye) is dealing with an eye issue, but the Mets are not concerned with his status. Granderson was sent home from camp Monday, Feb. 29, and he could be dealing with pink eye.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't affect Grandy's availability for Opening Day. He had a renaissance in 2015, but at age 35, don't expect for a repeat despite the fact that his hitting skills remain intact. There's also the possibility that he could platoon some because of his struggles against lefties. He's an option in the late middle rounds.
