Mets | Jose Reyes to lead off when ready

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 14:17:03 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes will move to the top of the order once he arrives from what is expected to be a short minor-league stint, during which time he is expected to play some third base and perhaps some time in center field. OF Curtis Granderson will move to an RBI spot, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: The injured David Wright still lead the Mets with three steals - a clear sign New York needs the speed Reyes can provide even if he is no longer in the prime of his career at 33 years old. Since Yoenis Cespedes and Neil Walker will likely occupy the third and fourth spots in the order on a regular basis, Granderson will probably bat fifth or sixth. Regardless, Granderson's average (.219) and RBI total (21) should both benefit from hitting behind Cespedes and Walker.

Mets | Curtis Granderson sets record

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 19:54:52 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson set a franchise record with his 17th leadoff home run as a Met, the 41st of his career, finishing 2-for-5 with two runs scored in a 6-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday, June 16.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson has become an all-or-nothing hitter. He has enough power to be owned in NL-only leagues, and he is a high-risk, high-reward DFS option.

Pirates | Jameson Taillon flirts with no-hitter

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 20:24:55 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates rookie SP Jameson Taillon took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before it was broken up by a leadoff single from New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson on Tuesday, June 14. Taillon allowed only one other head during his eight-inning, 91-pitch masterpiece and struck out five to earn his first career win.

Fantasy Tip: Taillon settled for a no-decision after giving up three runs over six innings in his first career start against the Mets on Wednesday. The 24-year-old, who is starting in the place of the injured Gerrit Cole, is obviously making a strong case to remain in the rotation and really has nothing left to prove in the minors. Taillon will have his hands full against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, but he is looking every bit like the top prospect he was billed to be and needs to be added in all fantasy leagues.

Mets | Curtis Granderson dropped to third

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 12:47:53 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson was dropped from leadoff to the third spot in the lineup Tuesday, June 14, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson is hitting .320 in the past week (8-for-25) with three home runs. With power like that, the thinking is Granderson will be better utilized in a slot where he can drive in runs. If Alejandro de Aza and Asdrubal Cabrera can set the table ahead of Granderson, then Granderson could clean up.

Mets | Curtis Granderson has knee scare

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 00:02:15 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson (knee) was hit on the side of his right knee by a pitch in the fourth inning Thursday, June 9, against the Milwaukee Brewers. Granderson limped as he walked to first base but stayed in the game.

Fantasy Tip: This could have been a big scare for the Mets, but it appears Granderson will be okay. Be on the lookout for after-effects like swelling or discomfort, and feel free to play him if Granderson comes out 100 percent.

Mets | Curtis Granderson, Wilmer Flores out

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 12:38:24 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson and SS Wilmer Flores are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 8. OF Alejandro De Aza is starting in right field and is hitting leadoff, while 3B Ty Kelly draws the start at third base and is batting seventh against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jameson Taillon.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson has provided pop out of the leadoff spot (10 home runs) but not much else for fantasy owners, and his average of .204 leaves a lot to be desired. De Aza hasn't had many opportunities this year (13-for-59) and is nothing more than a deep DFS sleeper hitting leadoff against a youngster making his major league debut. Kelly is a desperation flyer in daily formats.

Mets | Curtis Granderson reaches double digits

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 20:42:05 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, his 10th of the season, in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson is still hitting just .207 on the season, but he has rolled up 10 homers with 17 RBIs. He remains a solid fantasy play due to his power production, although fantasy owners certainly would like to see the average pick up a bit.

Mets | Four starters sitting for Mets

Mon, 30 May 2016 07:44:52 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson, OF Michael Conforto, 3B Eric Campbell and C Kevin Plawecki are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Monday, May 30. OF Juan Lagares will start in center field and is batting first in the lineup. SS Wilmer Flores will start at first base and is batting fifth. OF Alejandro De Aza will start in left field and is batting sixth, while C Rene Rivera will start at catcher and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Lagares has four hits in his last three games and has recorded two home runs and four RBI during that span. He should be a sleeper option in some daily fantasy leagues. De Aza, Flores and Rivera are all hitting under .200 this season and probably can be avoided by owners.

Mets | Curtis Granderson has lively night

Tue, 17 May 2016 19:38:38 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson reached base in all four of his plate appearances Tuesday, May 17, against the Washington Nationals. He finished the evening 2-for-2 with his seventh home run of the season, plating one RBI and one run scored. He also had two walks.

Fantasy Tip: Granderson has struggled early on in 2016, but owners may remember he did the same thing last year before heating up and sustaining that momentum for pretty much the rest of the campaign. Perhaps tonight's performance against Max Scherzer is the spark that can get him going.

Mets | Curtis Granderson, David Wright out

Sun, 15 May 2016 12:24:44 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson and 3B David Wright are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood Sunday, May 15. OF Alejandro De Aza will start in right field and is batting first, while 3B Eric Campbell will start at third base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza is batting .189 this season and is not a great fantasy option for owners. Owners can also avoid Campbell since he is also hitting under .200 this season.
