Yankees | Brian McCann leads comeback

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 21:39:05 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann hit a game-winning, three-run home run in the 12th inning in a 7-5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays Friday, July 3.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is up to 52 RBI on the year, but his production tends to come in spurts. He is a high-risk, high-reward option at FantasyScore.

Yankees | Brian McCann not in the lineup

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 16:17:27 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP C.J. Wilson Monday, June 29. C J.R. Murphy will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return soon. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting .333 this month, but owners should be able to find a better option to use.

Yankees | Brian McCann launches grand slam

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 17:49:28 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk in a 9-6 win over the Houston Astros Saturday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has been on a bit of an RBI binge lately, notching nine in his last seven games. He is now fifth in the AL with 49 RBI for the year, and he is one of the better catching options at FantasyScore, especially when he is facing a right-handed pitcher.

Yankees | Brian McCann out again vs. lefty

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 14:14:18 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 25. C J.R. Murphy is starting behind the plate and batting seventh against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid McCann ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in all formats Thursday. He is having a solid campaign with 29 runs, 11 home runs, 45 RBI and a .275/.342/.483 slash line. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) plays sparingly and offers little upside, so FantasyScore players should likely aim higher, especially against Keuchel. At best, Murphy is a desperation source of cap relief.

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 08:56:32 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is out of the lineup Wednesday, June 24, in favor of C J.R. Murphy.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) has a .254-0-5 line on the season and isn't worth using on FantasyScore.

Yankees | Brian McCann sitting out

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 13:04:39 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander Friday, June 19. C J.R. Murphy will be the starting catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) probably will return to the lineup for the next game. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) has five hits and two RBI in his last five games but may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Yankees | Brian McCann sitting out

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 08:00:08 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Mike Wright Sunday, June 14. C J.R. Murphy will be the starting catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) likely will return to the lineup for the next game. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting only .208 with three RBI in his limited playing time this season and is not a great option on FantasyScore.

Yankees | Another solid night for Brian McCann

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 19:14:43 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann registered three hits, including a double, and two RBI during New York's 6-1 win over the Washington Nationals Tuesday, June 9.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) entered the game hitting well over the past month. He is now sporting a 25-for-81 streak with 13 runs, seven home runs and 22 RBI over his last 25 games. Continue to view McCann as a second-tier catcher in the majority of fantasy formats while he is hitting well. However, it is more likely he levels off at some point and returns mid-tier results through the rest of the season. FantasyScore players should be somewhat picky with his matchups and when to utilize him, too, as McCann's cap hit is hefty compared to his backstop peers.

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 07:40:26 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann isn't in the starting lineup Sunday, June 7, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. C J.R. Murphy will start behind the plate and bat eighth in the lineup against LHP C.J. Wilson.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is just 3-for-17 in his last five starts. FantasyScore owners need to look elsewhere.

Yankees | Brian McCann homers in win

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 04:34:23 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann homered in the first inning as the Yankees scored six runs in the frame and topped the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 8-2, on Saturday, June 6. McCann has hit 26 of his 32 homers at Yankee Stadium since joining the team.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) may be one of those hitters best left on the bench away from his home park. This season McCann has a .318 average at Yankee Stadium and a .212 mark on the road. Eight of his nine homers this year have come against right-handed pitching. Analyze the matchups and act accordingly.
