Yankees | Brett Gardner, Brian McCann resting

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 15:06:08 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner and C Brian McCann are not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros left-handed SP Dallas Keuchel Monday, July 25. 2B Rob Refsnyder is starting in left field and is hitting second, while C Austin Romine is behind the plate and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Refsnyder nor Romine are attractive to those in DFS action this evening. Refsnyder is more worth your time if you're going out on a limb for a sleeper while hitting second, but keep in mind he's batting just .255 on the year with no homers and 10 RBI.

Yankees | Several Yankees return to lineup

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 11:17:59 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury, C Brian McCann, SS Didi Gregorius and 1B Mark Teixeira will start against San Francisco Giants SP Johnny Cueto Saturday, July 23. Ellsbury will bat second, McCann willbat fourth, Gregorius will bat sixth and Teixeira will bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: It makes sense that Joe Girardi wants all of his normal left-handed batters in the lineup against hard-throwing right hander Johnny Cueto. Ellsbury and McCann are probably the better bets for daily lineups, especially McCann, who has three homers and four runs batted in in 10 career at-bats against Cueto.

Yankees | Four Yankees regulars sitting Friday

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 13:34:21 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury, 1B Mark Teixeira, C Brian McCann and SS Didi Gregorius are out of the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants left-handed SP Madison Bumgarner Friday, July 22. OF Aaron Hicks is in center field and hitting eighth, 2B Rob Refsnyder is at second and batting sixth, C Austin Romine is behind the dish and hitting seventh and 2B Ronald Torreyes is at the 6 and batting ninth. Also, 2B Starlin Castro moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: All four players sitting are left-handed, which makes since with MadBum being one of the tougher southpaws in the league. None of Hicks, Refsnyder, Romine or Torreyes should be anything more than desperation daily stabs in the tough matchup. Castro, however, might be a contrarian play with the move up the batting order given the fact he's also been swinging a hot stick.

Yankees | Brian McCann sitting Sunday

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 13:48:17 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann will not start Sunday, July 17, against Boston Red Sox SP David Price. C Austin Romine is batting ninth in McCann's place.

Fantasy Tip: McCann earns the night off with lefty Price on the hill. Romine (.265-3-16) is a decent low-cost alternative in DFS leagues, as Romine has had a decent year in his own right.

Yankees | Mark Teixeira returns to action Sunday

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 08:09:33 -0700

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (knee) is back in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco Sunday, July 10. In addition, INF/OF Rob Refsnyder will play right field and bat eighth, while C Austin Romine starts behind the plate and bats ninth. C Brian McCann is receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Texeira is batting just .185 during the month of July and is 1-for-11 in his career against Carrasco, so he is not a recommended fantasy option. Refsnyder and Romine should both be viewed as productive sources of salary cap relief in DFS.

Yankees | Three Yankees regulars sitting

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 14:29:51 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury, SS Didi Gregorius and C Brian McCann are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP Carlos Rodon Tuesday, July 5. OF Aaron Hicks is in center field and hitting eighth, 2B Rob Refsnyder draws in at second base and is batting seventh and C Austin Romine is catching and hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: The Yanks are resting some of their lefty hitters with a southpaw on the bump. All three replacements won't be all that attractive in DFS this evening. Hicks might be the most appealing as a deep sleeper, but he's batting .203 on the season with three homers and 16 RBI.

Yankees | Three Yankees out Saturday

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 16:40:10 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann, OF Carlos Beltran (hamstring) and 3B Alex Rodriguez are out of the lineup Saturday, July 2. OF Rob Refsnyder is hitting seventh, and C Austin Romine is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: A-Rod has been out while the Yanks are in San Diego sans the DH. Refsnyder is hitting .290 and worth basement consideration against Drew Pomeranz. Romine isn't worth using in DFS.
