Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury out for wild-card game

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 13:20:22 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is not starting the American League wild-card game Tuesday, Oct. 6, against the Houston Astros. OF Chris Young is in his place. Two fellow lefties, OF Brett Gardner and C Brian McCann, are in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has a .253-2-11 line against lefties, which isn't much worse than his luck against right-handers. Young ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) hits .300 against Astros SP Dallas Keuchel with two doubles and a triple, so he may have some more luck.

Yankees | Several NYY starters slumped late in season

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 12:56:37 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez, OF Jacoby Ellsbury, OF Brett Gardner, 3B Chase Headley and C Brian McCann all batted between .174 and .224 since the start of September.

Fantasy Tip: These slumps may or may not last into next season, but for now it is something to keep an eye on if you are doing a postseason fantasy league or contest.

Yankees | J.R. Murphy could start Tuesday

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 09:42:05 -0700

New York Yankees C J.R. Murphy could catch the wild-card game against Houston Astros left-handed SP Dallas Keuchel Tuesday, Oct. 6, over C Brian McCann. The Yankees have included C Gary Sanchez on their playoff roster, which would give the Yankees more flexibility to put McCann in the game when the Astros go to their bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Either way you slice it, McCann ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) isn't a good option for FantasyScore owners. Even if he starts, McCann had just six of his 26 home runs against left-handers and is in a matchup to avoid. It's best to go cheap on catcher for the wild-card games.

Yankees | Brian McCann will not start

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 08:10:00 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, Oct. 3. C J.R. Murphy will start at catcher against SP Wei-Yin Chen and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) should return to the lineup for the second game of the doubleheader. Murphy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting .333 over the last seven days but may not be a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Yankees | Brian McCann, Chase Headley sitting

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 13:26:20 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann and 3B Chase Headley are not in the starting lineup Thursday, Oct. 1. C J.R. Murphy and 2B Rob Refsnyder draw into the lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Rich Hill Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Hill ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has allowed just three earned runs on 10 hits and two walks through his three starts this season, so Murphy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) and Refsnyder ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) are risky starts at FantasyScore Thursday.

Yankees | Brian McCann sitting against Red Sox

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 12:45:04 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup Monday, Sept. 28. C J.R. Murphy is starting behind the plate and batting seventh against Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid McCann ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday. He is two RBI shy of his career-high 94, and the backstop remains a high-end option at the position in all fantasy formats. Murphy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has some upside for FantasyScore plays Monday, as the catcher boasts a .471 slugging percentage against lefties.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann out

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 13:48:46 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury and C Brian McCann are not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 25. C J.R. Murphy is batting fifth and OF Chris Young is batting sixth against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ellsbury ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) and McCann ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. Young ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Murphy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap), on the other hand, are both viable options at FanasyScore. Murphy's .471 slugging percentage against southpaws warrants attention as a low-priced flier, and Young boasts a target-worthy .964 OPS against lefties.

Yankees | Brian McCann out against White Sox

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 13:15:16 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Sept. 24. C J.R. Murphy is starting behind the plate and batting sixth against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is having a career year, but he draws out against Sale ($8,900, 17.8% of cap). McCann stands at 91 RBI for the season, which is just three shy of his career-high 94 RBI in 2009. Murphy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is nothing more than a flier at FantasyScore because of his difficult matchup. For those looking to go contrarian, he does boast a .485 slugging percentage against lefties this season.

Yankees | Brian McCann sitting vs. Mets

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 13:02:41 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 18. C J.R. Murphy is startig behind the plate and batting sixth against SP Steven Matz Friday.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is having a banner season with 25 home runs and 87 RBI, but he draws out against a tough lefty Friday. Expect McCann to play the remainder of the series, though. Murphy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has been solid against lefties with a .286/.324/.508 slash line, so he checks out as a potential upside source of cap relief at FantasyScore Friday.

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez is out of the lineup for Game 2 Saturday, Sept. 12, with Brian McCann getting a breather at designated hitter in the cleanup spot.
