Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez humming at home

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 20:13:21 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez allowed two earned runs, four hits and three walks over seven innings in a quality start and win Tuesday, July 28, against the Atlanta Braves. He also struck out three batters, improving to 6-1 with a 2.13 ERA in eight home starts this season.

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) is a must-start in FantasyScore whenever he is toeing the slab at Camden Yards. However, avoid him on the road, as he is a dismal 2-5 with a 5.25 ERA in 12 road assignments with the opposition tuning him up at a .297 clip.

Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez scuffling out of break

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 19:19:37 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez allowed seven runs on eight hits and walked three in 2 1/3 innings in a loss to the New York Yankees Thursday, July 23, and he has allowed 14 run in seven innings in two starts since the All-Star break.

Fantasy Tip: We have seen this before from Jimenez ($6,500, 13.0% of cap), who can look like an ace one minute and like a scrub the next. His ERA has gone from 2.81 to 3.81 since the break, and he needs to be avoided at FantasyScore until he works through this rough patch.

Orioles | Ubaldo Jimenez on the comeback

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 19:37:03 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez has emerged as a candidate for Comeback Player of the Year thanks to a 2.96 ERA and career-best 3.21 strikeout-to-walk ratio over his first 16 starts this season. He has worked with special assignment pitching instructor, and former big leaguer, Ramon Martinez.

Fantasy Tip: Jimenez ($6,700; or 13.4% of cap) has re-emerged as a solid FantasyScore option most nights, particularly at home where he is 5-1 with a 2.06 ERA over seven starts. At Camden Yards, he has 47 strikeouts over 48 innings with a .213 opponent batting average. He is also a beast in day games, going 2-0 with a 1.67 ERA in four outings. Orioles | Bud Norris feeling under the weather

Fri, 15 May 2015 13:33:51 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Bud Norris (illness) is sick again, and his start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Saturday, May 16, is in jeopardy. SP Ubaldo Jimenez would start Saturday, if needed, with SP Chris Tillman starting Sunday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to check for an official announcement, because Norris ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been pitching awful (9.88 ERA with a league-worst 30 earned runs allowed this season). Jimenez ($4,900, 9.8% of cap), on the other hand, appears locked into rebounding in 2015.Jimenez is currently sporting a 2.41 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP and a 8.6 K/9.
