Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo out of Sunday lineup

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 14:05:01 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is not in the starting lineup Sunday, July 5, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. OF Ryan Rua is in Choo's place.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a normal night off for Choo ($3,500, 7.0% of cap), who has been in all six games this week leading up to Sunday. Rua ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) carries little fantasy value with a .182 average in the past week.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo hitting seventh Wednesday

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 12:34:02 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is hitting seventh against Baltimore Orioles left-handed SP Wei-Yin Chen Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Choo ($3,500, 7.0% of cap), despite a poor average this year, can still be valuable for FantasyScore owners for his power. However, a move down in the order and a matchup against a lefty say to avoid him tonight. Choo is hitting .146 (15-for-103) with just one of his 10 homers against southpaws this year.

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (back) returned to the lineup Thursday, June 25, against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray.

Fantasy Tip: Choo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is hitting .227 this month and .233 this season, which makes us pass on FantasyScore.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo out again

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 13:23:14 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (back) is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day Wednesday, June 24. OF Ryan Rua is starting in right field and hitting second in the batting order against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman. Also, 2B Rougned Odor is hitting leadoff for the second straight game with Choo out.

Fantasy Tip: Rua ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) gains fantasy value with a move up the order, but he remains a low-end outfield play on FantasyScore, as he has just six hits in 33 at-bats (.182) in limited duty. Odor ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) had three hits, including a home run, in the leadoff spot yesterday and could yet again be a nice value pick.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo out with back spasms

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 15:49:37 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (back) is out of the starting lineup due to back spasms Tuesday, June 23.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan Rua ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is starting in right field and hitting eighth against Oakland Athletics starter Jesse Chavez Tuesday night. Rua is hitting just .207 (6-for-29) on the season and isn't worth your attention on FantasyScore.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo excels against Kazmir

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 10:00:24 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is 7-for-19 (.368) with a home run in his career against Oakland Athletics SP Scott Kazmir. Choo faces Kazmir Thursday, June 11.

Fantasy Tip: Sure, Choo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has good marks against Kazmir in his career in a small sample size. But he's hitting only .197 (13-for-66) with one of his eight home runs against southpaws in 2015. It's hard to recommend Choo on FantasyScore today.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo has sprained finger

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 15:21:44 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (finger) is dealing with a sprained left pinkie finger, but he chose to play through it rather than have surgery to insert a pin and miss a month of action.

Fantasy Tip: This could be a concern for Choo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) and his owners, and it's something that could definitely affect his power stroke if he continues to play through it. Delino DeShields Jr. ($3,400, 6.8% of cap), who is already useful as a matchup play for his speed, could gain more value again if Choo succumbs to the injury and eventually has surgery.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo starts June hot

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 20:17:21 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI and a home run during Texas' 15-2 win over the Chicago White Sox Tuesday, June 2.

Fantasy Tip: After finishing May with 21 runs, six home runs, 18 RBI and a .295/.356/.533 slash line, Choo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) already has put a stamp on June. His FantasyScore salary hasn't caught up to his prolonged hot stretch, and until it does, consider him an excellent value play.

Rangers | Shin-Soo Choo sitting

Sat, 30 May 2015 14:08:50 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is out of the lineup Saturday, May 30, against a left-handed starter. OF Delino DeShields Jr. is in the lineup in his place.

Fantasy Tip: DeShields ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is hitting .264 with 11 steals, but he has just one stolen base in the last 10 days. There probably isn't enough there to warrant the start on FantasyScore.

Rangers | Three impacted by Josh Hamilton

Mon, 25 May 2015 06:04:24 -0700

Texas Rangers OFs Shin-Soo Choo, Delino DeShields Jr. and Leonys Martin are expected to lose some playing time with the return of Rangers OF Josh Hamilton to the lineup Monday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: All three players are fringe fantasy plays most days and have limited value in standard leagues. Pay close attention to their time early in this process to help gauge your level of fantasy commitment in the following weeks. It's best to avoid all three in the short term.
