Tigers | Anibal Sanchez expected back this year

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 16:16:19 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez (shoulder) is expected to return to the starting rotation at some point in September.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has had a disappointing season and projects to take the hill for just a couple more starts, at best. He is worth holding in the majority of leagues, but if needed, you can feel free to cut the currently dead weight to stay competitive.

Tigers | Anibal Sanchez won't be out long

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 15:27:12 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez (shoulder) isn't believed to have a serious injury, and manager Brad Ausmus doesn't think Sanchez will be on the disabled list longer than the designated 15 days.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez's ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) 4.99 ERA has been inflated by a 1.7 home-run-per-nine-innings rate in 2015. He'll likely continue to be a risk/reward matchup play in daily leagues for the final month of the season when he returns from the DL.

Tigers | Anibal Sanchez placed on DL

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 13:31:14 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right rotator cuff strain Thursday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: This is an injury that could prevent Sanchez ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) from pitching for most of the remainder of the year. In shallow leagues, there's enough reason to drop him for now if you own him. It's unknown who will enter the rotation to replace him. Stay tuned.

Tigers | Anibal Sanchez giving up the long ball

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 11:52:45 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez is 13-13 with a 4.96 ERA and 30 home runs allowed in his last 31 starts. In his 31 starts before that he was 13-5 with a 2.56 ERA and eight homers allowed.

Fantasy Tip: Whatever it may be, Sanchez ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) is having a heck of a time keeping the ball inside the park in 2015. He's allowing 1.6 home runs per nine innings this year, and although that figure should drop, he's tough to rely on in daily games because of that. Stacking powerful bats against him on FantasyScore isn't a bad idea, either.

Tigers | Anibal Sanchez not good against KC

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 21:28:06 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez is scheduled to face the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, Aug. 11. He is 1-1 with a 5.59 ERA in three starts against the Royals this season.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) is not worth the money in FantasyScore in a road outing against the Royals, a team which has handled him fairly well this season.

Tigers | Anibal Sanchez earns win Wednesday

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 19:45:23 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez (10-7) allowed four runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings in a victory over the Seattle Mariners Wednesday, July 22, with two walks and six strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Despite not pitching well recently, Sanchez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has won eight consecutive decisions as a result of getting a great deal of run support. He will make his next start against the Tampa Bay Rays Monday, July 27.

Tigers | Anibal Sanchez on a roll

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 04:45:32 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez pitches against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, July 8. Sanchez is 7-7 overall but has gone 4-0 with a 2.61 ERA in his last five starts.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has turned the ship around following a dismal start to the season. Start him in FantasyScore as long as he is on this hot streak.

Tigers | Anibal Sanchez flirts with no-hitter

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 19:06:53 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez (7-7) carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, July 3, but OF Ezequiel Carrera's one-out single ended the bid. He ended up allowing four runs on three hits over 7 1/3 innings, with three walks and five strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) didn't even end up with a quality start, thanks to a poor performance by the Detroit bullpen, although he still managed to be credited for the victory. He will make his next start against the Seattle Mariners next week.

Tigers | Anibal Sanchez blanks Cincinnati

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 23:04:56 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez tossed a two-hit shutout Monday, June 15, against the Cincinnati Reds, finishing with seven strikeouts and no walks. It was his seventh-career shutout and first complete game since May 24, 2013.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez ($5,500; or 11.0% of cap) has turned a corner and appears to have re-emerged as a must-start FantasyScore option after a rough start to the season.
