Seahawks | Thomas Rawls on track to start Week 1

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 16:38:43 -0700

Updating a previous story, Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (ankle) "looks really good" and the general consensus is that he'll be ready for Week 1. "I think the signs are very positive that he's going to be ready in a couple weeks to play. Right now, we just want to see him come back day after day and keep battling, really digging in like he does and competing like he does, just to show that he's all right. He's doing everything right so we're really happy with him," head coach Pete Carroll told reporters.

Fantasy Tip: The previous report was relatively vague in regards to Rawls' return, but this report suggests he's much more likely than not to lead the Seahawks' backfield against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. Christine Michael figures to remain in the mix and could possible receive possibly a third of the carries plus some third-down work, but Rawls appears to have a firm grasp on the early-down role. He's still a high-risk, high-reward RB2, however.

Seahawks | Thomas Rawls to return in two weeks?

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 15:52:47 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (ankle) should return "in a couple weeks", according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Fantasy Tip: Christine Michael's emergence has likely emboldened the Seattle coaching staff to be as conservative as possible with Rawls' return. Carroll's optimism suggests Rawls will be ready for at least part-time work in Week 1, although that is far from a given. For now, owners need to treat Rawls like a high-risk, high-reward RB2 who may begin the season inactive or sharing carries with Michael.

Seahawks | Thomas Rawls lands on PUP list

Sat, 30 Jul 2016 13:00:51 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (ankle) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, July 30. Head coach Pete Carroll, who told reporters Rawls is in "great shape" and "has not had any setbacks", also said he will reevaluate his second-year player's status in four-day segments.

Fantasy Tip: Jimmy Graham joined Rawls on PUP on Saturday, and it appears both players will be monitored similarly. Rawls will be atop the depth chart when he is cleared, but it appears he'll enter the season as a two-down back since rookie C.J. Prosise has been handpicked to be the primary third-down back. The 2015 undrafted rookie free agent will have to start out strong if hopes to hold off Prosise and fifth-rounder Alex Collins. At the moment, Rawls should be considered a high-risk, high-upside RB2.

Seahawks | HC planning on Marshawn Lynch's return

Fri, 20 Feb 2015 19:43:57 -0800

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said he has never considered a future that doesn't include RB Marshawn Lynch. "We're always preparing for the future with him," Carroll said Friday, Feb. 20, at the NFL Scouting Combine. "We've never thought of the future without him. Hopefully, it will work out."

Fantasy Tip: Although nothing is set in stone yet, it is starting to sound like Lynch could decide to put off retirement for at least another year. If he does return to the Seahawks, he should be treated as a No. 1 option at running back for fantasy purposes.
