Packers | Aaron Rodgers lifted early

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 20:26:15 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (hamstring) was lifted late in the fourth quarter of the Week 8 game against the New Orleans Saints with the game out of hand.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers completed 28 of his 39 pass attempts for 418 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions, and he also ran one in for a score. Rodgers was limping after a second half rushing attempt, but was able to remain in the game. The good news for Rodgers and his fantasy owners is that the team has a bye for Rodgers to rest his hamstring.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers a much-improved QB

Thu, 23 Oct 2014 10:51:33 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers had a passer rating of 154.5 against the Carolina Panthers in Week 7, and head coach Mike McCarthy thinks his quarterback is better than he was when he won the Most Valuable Player award in 2011. Rodgers has thrown 18 straight touchdown passes without an interception heading into Week 8. "Aaron is a much better player today than he was in 2011," said McCarthy. "His responsibility level has increased a lot since then. So, what he does during the course of the week, during the course of the game, at the line of scrimmage, the communication between (quarterbacks coach) Alex Van Pelt and myself, he is, in my opinion, watching him grow throughout his career, he's clearly a better player." Rodgers' streak of 192 pass attempts without an interception is the longest of his career and second best stretch by any Green Bay quarterback since Bart Starr went 294 passes without throwing an interception.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers should be started every week in standard leagues, and he justifies his $8,700 (17.4% of cap) FantasyScore price against the New Orleans Saints this weekend.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers protecting the ball

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 19:06:16 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has gone 128 pass attempts without throwing an interception, and his lone interception of the year came in Week 1. Rodgers currently owns the lowest interception percentage in NFL history.

Fantasy Tip: His ability to take care of the ball is just another reason Rodgers is one of the best fantasy options at the quarterback position. He will take up 17.2% of the cap ($8,600) at FantasyScore in Week 6, and he fantasy owners should feel comfortable building a lineup around him.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers throws 200th TD

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 20:26:44 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw the 200th touchdown pass of his career in the second quarter of the team's Week 5 game. He finished with 156 yards and three touchdowns before being replaced by QB Matt Flynn in the fourth quarter with the Packers leading 42-7.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers' numbers could have been even better had he not exited early because the game was a blowout. Still, he has now tossed at least three touchdowns in three of his last four games and remains one of the strongest options at the position.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers likes facing Chicago

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 18:06:09 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers will be facing the Chicago Bears in Week 4, a team he has had success against over the years. Over his past five full games against the Bears, he has tossed two or more touchdowns in four starts, while throwing for 283 or more yards in four of those outings. In Week 9 last season he was injured against Chicago after just two pass attempts.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers is the third-most expensive option on the FantasyScore board at $8900 (or 17.8 percent of the salary cap), but he should at least be good for 275 yards and two touchdowns. The same cannot be said of the other similarly priced options on the board.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers disappointed with offense

Tue, 23 Sep 2014 13:09:31 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said the offense isn't playing fast enough, isn't converting enough third downs and isn't staying on the field long enough to tire the opposing defense. Green Bay's offense has been shaky to start off the season and scored just seven points against the Detroit Lions in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Hopefully the Packers are just shaking the rust off. Rodgers and Co. should eventually get things going. The Green Bay quarterback is priced at $8,900 on FantasyScore this week.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers keeping Jordy Nelson busy

Tue, 16 Sep 2014 15:14:10 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has targeted WR Jordy Nelson 30 times in two games so far this year. Rodgers has never targeted one of his wideouts more than 8.3 times per game in a season.

Fantasy Tip: That is an unusually high number of targets in two weeks, and it'll likely come down, but it's another reminder of how valuable Nelson is in PPR leagues. He'll cost $7,800 at FantasyScore this week, but he could be worth the high cost against the Detroit Lions.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers has more control

Thu, 04 Sep 2014 11:21:41 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is expected to receive more control over the offensive play calling Week 1, according to sources. The Packers are expected to use a fast-paced offense.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers is one of the top quarterbacks in fantasy football but is facing the Seattle Seahawks defense Week 1. Rodgers is worth $8,200 at FantasyScore, which makes him a risky play against Seattle. Owners could consider taking a cheaper quarterback and using the extra money at another position.

Packers | Corey Linsley to start at center

Wed, 03 Sep 2014 11:11:15 -0700

Green Bay Packers C Corey Linsley will be starting at center in the team's Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, Sept. 4. He didn't have a single snap with QB Aaron Rodgers in preseason action. C JC Tretter (knee) fractured his left knee in the Aug. 22 preseason game. "All the weaknesses that (Linsley) shows us, we've got to expose it," LB Bruce Irvin told reporters. "Hopefully, Bane going to do what I know he's going to do to him. So, we've just got to be ready." The Packers plan to use their no-huddle offense extensively against the Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: This has to make Rodgers and Eddie Lacy owners a bit nervous, especially against the NFL's top defensive unit from a year ago. Temper your expectations for both players tomorrow night. You're safer off going with other options for those positions in daily games this week.

I think there's been times -- I think back to playing Jacksonville in '08 in Jacksonville [a 20-16 Packers' loss], some of the battles we've had with our division teams at times -- where you walk on the field and feel like you're kind of a JV team."

Packers | Aaron Rodgers won't be limited

Fri, 27 Dec 2013 15:09:27 -0800

The Green Bay Packers do not plan on limiting QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) in his first game back from a cracked collarbone in Week 17 against the Chicago Bears. "To me, that goes back to the decision," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "If we were thinking that way, the decision wouldn't be what it is. The decision's been made. Obviously it was a thorough one. And it's time for Aaron to play. We're going to cut him loose and we're going to go play. We're going to play to win."

Fantasy Tip: As a Rodgers owner considering starting him, this has to help make you more confident going with him. He could put up midrange QB1 numbers against the Bears. As Tyler Dunne suggests, though, the Packers will likely lean heavily on the run against a team that hasn't been able to stop a ground attack all season.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers have already announced that Rodgers will finally make his return to the field in Week 17 against the Chicago Bears. The fact that Green Bay's medical staff is very cautious means that Rodgers is as close to 100 percent as possible. The matchup is a good one, too, making Rodgers a decent play as a QB1, depending on your other options. Rust may be the biggest question mark at work here.
