Packers | Aaron Rodgers deal imminent?

Thu, 03 May 2018 09:25:45 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are expected to agree on a new deal soon, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like both sides will be happy. The Packers won't have their franchise quarterback threatening to hold out and Rodgers will have a new contract and will be able to focus on football. When healthyl, an argument can be made that he's the No. 1 fantasy quarterback, even without Jordy Nelson.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers disgruntled

Tue, 17 Apr 2018 06:21:40 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is "frustrated and emotional" about being completely cut out of discussions that resulted in departures of WR Jordy Nelson and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt, according to sources. It is a factor in his thought process when it comes to his contract extension.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers just turned 34, and he looked great before the collarbone injury derailed him last year. He should be one of the top quarterback options again this season, and the chip on his shoulder could be beneficial to fantasy owners.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers deal on hold?

Sat, 03 Mar 2018 18:25:11 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers' contract extension is unlikely to be completed until after Washington Redskins impending free-agent Kirk Cousins signs his new deal, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers has no reason to rush his extension, so waiting to see where Cousins sets the market makes sense. Rodgers isn't going anywhere, and his status as a top-tier QB1 is unlikely to change any time soon.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers is healthy

Wed, 28 Feb 2018 11:28:04 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) met with Dr. Pat McKenzie, and "everything looks good" with Rodgers' clavicle, according to Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers should be A-OK for Week 1, but his ability to stay healthy is an ever-growing concern. Treat him as one of the top two or three quarterbacks in 2018 drafts.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers extension talks moving forward

Tue, 27 Feb 2018 16:13:02 -0800

The Green Bay Packers have made progress in contract extension talks with QB Aaron Rodgers, according to team president Mark Murphy.

Fantasy Tip: The two sides likely will continue to have contract talks throughout the offseason and should be able to reach an agreement at some point. Rodgers will be a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues as long as he is healthy.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers to begin contract talks?

Fri, 16 Feb 2018 19:08:48 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers' contract extension will likely be a priority this offseason, according to Pete Dougherty of USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin, and Dougherty believes Rodgers will sign a record-setting deal.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers still has a couple of years remaining on his current deal, but it's no surprise that the Packers would want to lock up their franchise quarterback. He'll be the top quarterback on the draft board in 2018.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers to be 'ready to go' in April

Mon, 05 Feb 2018 22:14:15 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) said he's had no limitations on his offseason workouts that he participates in on his own and that he'll be full go by the time the team returns for their offseason program in mid-April. "I'm back into everything I like to do in the offseason with my training, and I'll be ready to go when we're back in April," Rodgers said. He also mentioned that he's "feeling great."

Fantasy Tip: This news indicates Rodgers is right on schedule and should be 100 percent in time for the beginning of the season next year. He'll be a QB1 entering the 2018 campaign, with the potential to lead all players at his position in fantasy points.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers realistic about future

Sat, 03 Feb 2018 20:04:22 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he believes he has many good years left in him, but he acknowledged that he could finish his career with a different team. "I think you have to be humble enough to realize if it could happen to Brett (Favre), it can happen to you," Rodgers said.

Fantasy Tip: Green Bay fans shouldn't panic. Rodgers has a couple of years left on his current deal, and he is likely to remain a Packer, and a high-end QB1 for that matter, for the foreseeable future.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers questions QB coach decision

Thu, 01 Feb 2018 09:46:41 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he was not even consulted before former quarterbacks coach, and current Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach, Alex Van Pelt was fired, adding that the decision was "interesting." Rodgers said he had a close connection with Van Pelt.

Fantasy Tip: We know Rodgers can succeed with any coach, but the fact that the Packers didn't even entertain Rodgers' opinions on the matter is certainly puzzling. Nonetheless, the veteran quarterback is a perennial high-end QB1 as long as he is of sound health.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers says he's fine

Thu, 01 Feb 2018 07:17:57 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) said his collarbone is fine Thursday, Feb. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Now 34, Rodgers remains one of the best options at quarterback in fantasy. He'll have some questions to answer after the collarbone injury, though, and he showed some rust in his one-game return late in the season.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers placed on IR

Tue, 19 Dec 2017 13:10:24 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 19. Free-agent QB Joe Callahan (Packers) was re-signed in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: This was the expected move with the Packers being eliminated from playoff contention. Rodgers now has a full offseason to rest and heal. He should be good as new by the time offseason activities commence and remains a top-tier QB1 candidate.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers' Week 16 status uncertain

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 16:30:29 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) is sore after taking too many hits in Week 15, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy was noncommittal when asked if Rodgers will play in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers could be out of playoff contention if the Atlanta Falcons win their Week 15 game, so they may consider sitting Rodgers if they are out of the playoffs. Owners will need to monitor the situation during the week, but Rodgers would be a low-end No. 1 quarterback if he plays in Week 16 because of the tough matchup.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers back with three TDs

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 15:24:37 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers completed 26 of his 45 pass attempts for 290 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in the Week 15 game against the Carolina Panthers. He also rushed six times for 43 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers was back doing his usual thing, and he didn't seem shy about sacrificing his body or wasn't hesitant due to his collarbone injury. If you scooped him up or waited out his injury to use in the final couple of weeks of the fantasy season, congrats.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers activated

Sat, 16 Dec 2017 09:44:05 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Dec. 16, and is expected to play in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers will be listed as questionable on the injury report, but it is a formality for a player coming off the Reserve/Injured list. The Panthers have yielded at least two touchdown passes to four of the last five quarterbacks they have faced - the one exception being the run-heavy New Orleans Saints - and none of the four are on par with Rodgers. A strong case can be made for Rodgers being ranked as the top quarterback play in Week 15.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers expected to be activated Saturday

Sat, 16 Dec 2017 06:27:17 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers is no longer listed on the team's injury report and is poised to start Week 15's game versus the Carolina Panthers, after receiving medical clearance to resume playing earlier this week. He should be considered a top-five fantasy quarterback in all formats.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers on track to play Week 15

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 10:50:00 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) is "preparing to play" in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers was medically cleared late Tuesday night, so the coach is just confirming what most owners probably already knew. It's not going to be an easy three-game stretch for the six-time Pro Bowler - Carolina in Week 15, the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16 and the Detroit Lions in Week 17 - but owners waiting for a gift to fall in their laps during the fantasy playoffs may have gotten their wish. Rodgers will be a top-five fantasy quarterback play this week if he starts as expected.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers cleared

Tue, 12 Dec 2017 19:44:38 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) announced on his Instagram account Tuesday, Dec. 12, he has been medically cleared to resume playing football.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers has been throwing on the side for a few weeks, but this confirms he should be back under center for the Packers in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers. While his return likely comes too late for most of his fantasy owners - and those who relied on Jordy Nelson - the many owners who were able to pick him up off waivers should be thrilled. Although his remaining fantasy schedule is far from a cakewalk, he should be reinserted into the majority of lineups this weekend.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers not fully healed yet

Tue, 12 Dec 2017 09:33:29 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) is pushing very hard to play in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers and the team - along with the medical staff - hopes to arrive at a decision regarding his status Wednesday, Dec. 13. However, there are "loud and protective voices" within the organization wondering if it is worth the risk of putting him on the field to potentially injure himself again for a "small chance at a great reward," according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers was not expected to be fully healed two months after suffering a broken collarbone and that appears to be the case here. Rapoport reports 80 percent healed with this injury is considered healthy enough to be on the field, so Rodgers' status for Week 15 remains very much up in the air. If he can play, he'll be a high-end, high-risk QB1 option for fantasy owners this week.

Packers | No decision on Aaron Rodgers yet

Mon, 11 Dec 2017 13:54:31 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) underwent tests and scans on his collarbone, but head coach Mike McCarthy said there is no clear decision on his status at this point. Rodgers is still being evaluated by team doctors.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor Rodgers' practice participation during the week to have a better idea of his status for Week 15. He would be facing a tough Carolina Panthers defense if he plays but can be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in all leagues.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers to undergo CT scan

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 09:36:27 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) will undergo a CT scan this week to determine if he will be medically cleared to resume playing.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers has reportedly looked sharp since returning to practice Dec. 2. If all goes well, he will be able to return to action for Week 15's game against the Carolina Panthers, so he should remain stashed in all seasonal leagues. QB Brett Hundley will remain under center for Week 14 versus the Cleveland Browns but should be viewed as a low-end QB2 in all fantasy formats.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers practices in pads

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 23:15:11 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) took part in practice while wearing shoulder pads Thursday, Dec. 7. It's another step forward for Rodgers, who is eligible to return for the team's Week 15 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: There are still two big hurdles for Rodgers: he needs to be medically cleared and the Packers need to beat the Browns this week. Neither of which are a lock. That being said, Rodgers is absolutely worth grabbing if he's on waivers in case those things do happen.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers to run scout team

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 07:20:34 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) will work with the scout team in practice this week, according to a source. He would be eligible to play Dec. 17 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers is worth stashing for a potential run in the fantasy playoffs, but he can't be fully counted on to return in a starting capacity.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers targeting Week 15 return

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 06:58:23 -0800

The Green Bay Packers are hoping that QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) can return for Week 15's game against the Carolina Panthers, provided that he receives medical clearance and the team is still in playoff contention, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers resumed practicing Saturday, Dec. 2, and will have two weeks to prepare for his potential return. He should remain stashed in all fantasy formats. Brett Hundley will continue to start in Rodgers' absence and should be considered a low-end QB2 in most leagues.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers practices Saturday

Sat, 02 Dec 2017 10:56:08 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) took part in practice Saturday, Dec. 2, and has been officially designated as a player to return off the Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: As NFL.com's Ian Rapoport says, there are still many hurdles to go. Rodgers hasn't been cleared for game action yet and won't undergo a scan of any kind until after the Packers play the Cleveland Browns in Week 14. In short, he's on track to return and little more at the moment. With that said, Rodgers needs to be stashed in all leagues.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers on track to practice Saturday

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 10:43:26 -0800

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) will begin practicing on a trial basis Saturday, Dec. 2. "He's got a workout (Friday) that we'll obviously evaluate. We're looking (Saturday) to potentially practice him in a trial return. That's the outlook," head coach Mike McCarthy said.

Fantasy Tip: Nothing is set in stone yet, but it's beginning to look like Rodgers is more likely than not to activate him from the Reserve/Injured list when he is first eligible and will return to action in Week 15 versus the Carolina Panthers. His return would obviously boost the stock of Jordy Nelson and give a huge boost to any owner savvy enough to pick him up off waivers - in the leagues in which he was dropped - in hopes that he could finish off a potential fantasy title run.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers can begin practicing

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 07:25:40 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) can begin practicing Friday, Dec. 1, but the Packers are off. He could dress for practice Saturday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: He still has two weeks and several hurdles to overcome before he could return in Week 15. With the progress he's making, though, he should probably be stashed for the fantasy playoffs.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers on the comeback trail?

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 11:10:01 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) was spotted throwing the football around during a workout about two hours before the start of his team's game in Week 12 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was reportedly "all smiles" after the short throwing session and threw at least one pass more than 50 yards in the air.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers cannot return from the Reserve/Injured list before Week 15 and there is absolutely no guarantee he will return again this season, but this news is positive for any owner who stashed him with an eye on the fantasy playoffs. Green Bay faces the Carolina Panthers in Week 15 and Minnesota Vikings in Week 16, so it's not as if he will have the easiest matchups either. With that said, Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the league and is worth starting anytime he can play.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers' recovery on track

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 20:25:28 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) is making "really good progress" in his recovery, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers could be back in Week 15, but that's assuming his recovery remains on track and the Packers remain in playoff contention. If he does return, he'd be a risky but intriguing starting option in the fantasy playoffs.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers works on side

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 15:42:42 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) took some snaps on the sidelines during practice Wednesday, Nov. 15, but did not throw any passes. He also simulated a throwing motion by whipping a towel during the workout. Rodgers is not allowed to practice for at least two more weeks and is not eligible to play again until Week 15 since he is on the Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation because Rodgers could return to the lineup if the Packers have a chance to make the playoffs. Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when he is heathy but would be a risky option in all leagues if he returns this season.

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) disclosed on Conan with Conan O'Brien Wednesday, Oct. 25, that he had 13 screws inserted into his collarbone.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers is likely done for the fantasy season, if not the entire season. His only roster viability is in multi-year leagues.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers may throw in six weeks

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 07:08:54 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) has been told by doctors that he will be able to start throwing in six weeks, according to sources. The team believes Rodgers could return this season if they are still in playoff contention but likely would keep him out if they miss the playoffs.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers will miss at least the next eight weeks since he is on the Reserve/Injured list, but it looks like he may play again in 2017. Owners can consider stashing him on their bench if they have the roster space. Brett Hundley will be the starter while Rodgers is out but should only be a No. 2 quarterback.

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list, but the team hopes that he will be able to return in time for the team's Week 15 game against the Carolina Panthers, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers will miss at least eight weeks but has not been ruled out for the season at this point, so owners will need to keep an eye on his recovery. Owners that have roster space could consider stashing Rodgers on the bench, but he can be dropped if owners need the space.

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Oct. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers will have to miss at least eight weeks with this move and would not return until December if he has a chance to play again in 2017. Owners can drop Rodgers in standard leagues, but Brett Hundley is not a great fantasy option at this point.

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 16:30:16 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) underwent surgery to repair his collarbone Thursday, Oct. 19, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers likely will miss most or all of the rest of the season, so owners can drop him if they need the roster space. Brett Hundley is taking over the starting quarterback job but probably should be avoided until he can produce on a consistent basis.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers' surgery date not set

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 22:38:47 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) has yet to be scheduled for surgery, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. Rodgers remains on the active roster pending the surgery as the team is waiting for the results of the procedure to establish a timeline for his recovery.

Fantasy Tip: Thus far the only official announcement is that Rodgers "could potentially" miss the rest of the season, though it seems many are anticipating he won't return in 2017. It's going to be an extended absence no matter what, so if you need the roster space go ahead and cut him. If not, you might as well wait for a more definitive time frame.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers will need surgery

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 13:41:21 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) will need surgery on his broken collarbone and could miss the rest of the season, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers likely will miss the rest of the regular season, so owners in standard leagues can drop him if they need to add another quarterback. Brett Hundley will be the starting quarterback moving forward but is no better than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback. The quarterback change will hurt the fantasy value of the Packers receivers and tight ends.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers officially breaks clavicle

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 12:12:30 -0700

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (clavicle) officially suffered a broken collarbone and may miss the rest of the year.

Fantasy Tip: He broke his left one in 2013 and missed seven games. This time it's the throwing shoulder side, so brace for the worst. The Packers turn to Brett Hundley, but given all of his weapons and learning opportunity behind Rodgers, all hope is not lost. Hundley is a fringe fantasy asset, and the receiving corps should be devalued across the board.

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 11:48:26 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) is scheduled to undergo tests, but the Packers fear that Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers would miss a significant amount of time if he does have a broken collarbone, but owners should look for an update on his status in the near future. Brett Hundley would take over as the starting quarterback but is not a great fantasy option.

Tue, 10 Oct 2017 18:51:27 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers unloaded the ball in an average of 2.1 seconds on his 29 pass attempts in Week 5, the quickest of any quarterback in the league per NFL Next Gen Stats.

Fantasy Tip: With Green Bay battling injuries along the offensive line, Rodgers doesn't have the luxury of time in a lot of cases, although it has yet to show up in his weekly totals with seven touchdowns and no interceptions over his last two games. Rodgers has a difficult matchup in Week 6 versus the Minnesota Vikings, but he's a must-start pretty much anytime he takes field.

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was 18-for-26 for 179 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions against the Chicago Bears on Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: It was the first time this season Rodgers didn't pass for more than 300 yards, but those four touchdown passes and error-free football should silence any grumbling from fantasy owners. He'll travel to Dallas next week. The question is how many of his injury-ravaged teammates will join him?

Packers | Aaron Rodgers throws for 313 yards

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 19:24:24 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers completed 28 of his 42 pass attempts for 313 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the Week 3 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he ran four times for 23 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers and the Packers fell behind at home, and they needed a big comeback and overtime to finally put away the Bengals. Fantasy owners liked seeing the game go to OT, as Rodgers hooked up with Geronimo Allison on a 72-yard pass play to set up the game-winning field goal. More importantly, it pushed him over the 300-yard threshold for point bonuses. He and his teammates have just a few days to prepare for Week 4 against the Chicago Bears on Thursday night.

Packers | Martellus Bennett fined

Sat, 16 Sep 2017 06:36:54 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Martellus Bennett was fined $9,115 by the National Football League for his unnecessary roughness penalty in Week 1's game against the Seattle Seahawks. He gave LB K.J. Wright a two-handed shove after Wright tackled QB Aaron Rodgers on a fourth-quarter scramble for a first down.

Fantasy Tip: Bennett finished his first game in a Packer uniform with three receptions for 43 yards. He should be viewed as a low-end TE1 in the majority of fantasy formats.
