Packers | Aaron Rodgers' recovery on track

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 20:25:28 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) is making "really good progress" in his recovery, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers could be back in Week 15, but that's assuming his recovery remains on track and the Packers remain in playoff contention. If he does return, he'd be a risky but intriguing starting option in the fantasy playoffs.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers works on side

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 15:42:42 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) took some snaps on the sidelines during practice Wednesday, Nov. 15, but did not throw any passes. He also simulated a throwing motion by whipping a towel during the workout. Rodgers is not allowed to practice for at least two more weeks and is not eligible to play again until Week 15 since he is on the Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation because Rodgers could return to the lineup if the Packers have a chance to make the playoffs. Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when he is heathy but would be a risky option in all leagues if he returns this season.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers may throw in six weeks

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 07:08:54 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) has been told by doctors that he will be able to start throwing in six weeks, according to sources. The team believes Rodgers could return this season if they are still in playoff contention but likely would keep him out if they miss the playoffs.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers will miss at least the next eight weeks since he is on the Reserve/Injured list, but it looks like he may play again in 2017. Owners can consider stashing him on their bench if they have the roster space. Brett Hundley will be the starter while Rodgers is out but should only be a No. 2 quarterback.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers' surgery date not set

Wed, 18 Oct 2017 22:38:47 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) has yet to be scheduled for surgery, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. Rodgers remains on the active roster pending the surgery as the team is waiting for the results of the procedure to establish a timeline for his recovery.

Fantasy Tip: Thus far the only official announcement is that Rodgers "could potentially" miss the rest of the season, though it seems many are anticipating he won't return in 2017. It's going to be an extended absence no matter what, so if you need the roster space go ahead and cut him. If not, you might as well wait for a more definitive time frame.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers will need surgery

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 13:41:21 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) will need surgery on his broken collarbone and could miss the rest of the season, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers likely will miss the rest of the regular season, so owners in standard leagues can drop him if they need to add another quarterback. Brett Hundley will be the starting quarterback moving forward but is no better than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback. The quarterback change will hurt the fantasy value of the Packers receivers and tight ends.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers officially breaks clavicle

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 12:12:30 -0700

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (clavicle) officially suffered a broken collarbone and may miss the rest of the year.

Fantasy Tip: He broke his left one in 2013 and missed seven games. This time it's the throwing shoulder side, so brace for the worst. The Packers turn to Brett Hundley, but given all of his weapons and learning opportunity behind Rodgers, all hope is not lost. Hundley is a fringe fantasy asset, and the receiving corps should be devalued across the board.

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 11:48:26 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (shoulder) is scheduled to undergo tests, but the Packers fear that Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers would miss a significant amount of time if he does have a broken collarbone, but owners should look for an update on his status in the near future. Brett Hundley would take over as the starting quarterback but is not a great fantasy option.

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 09:47:36 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (undisclosed) left the team's Week 6 game early because of an undisclosed injury.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers quick to pull the trigger

Tue, 10 Oct 2017 18:51:27 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers unloaded the ball in an average of 2.1 seconds on his 29 pass attempts in Week 5, the quickest of any quarterback in the league per NFL Next Gen Stats.

Fantasy Tip: With Green Bay battling injuries along the offensive line, Rodgers doesn't have the luxury of time in a lot of cases, although it has yet to show up in his weekly totals with seven touchdowns and no interceptions over his last two games. Rodgers has a difficult matchup in Week 6 versus the Minnesota Vikings, but he's a must-start pretty much anytime he takes field.

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 22:29:08 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was 18-for-26 for 179 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions against the Chicago Bears on Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: It was the first time this season Rodgers didn't pass for more than 300 yards, but those four touchdown passes and error-free football should silence any grumbling from fantasy owners. He'll travel to Dallas next week. The question is how many of his injury-ravaged teammates will join him?

Packers | Aaron Rodgers throws for 313 yards

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 19:24:24 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers completed 28 of his 42 pass attempts for 313 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the Week 3 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he ran four times for 23 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers and the Packers fell behind at home, and they needed a big comeback and overtime to finally put away the Bengals. Fantasy owners liked seeing the game go to OT, as Rodgers hooked up with Geronimo Allison on a 72-yard pass play to set up the game-winning field goal. More importantly, it pushed him over the 300-yard threshold for point bonuses. He and his teammates have just a few days to prepare for Week 4 against the Chicago Bears on Thursday night.

Packers | Martellus Bennett fined

Sat, 16 Sep 2017 06:36:54 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Martellus Bennett was fined $9,115 by the National Football League for his unnecessary roughness penalty in Week 1's game against the Seattle Seahawks. He gave LB K.J. Wright a two-handed shove after Wright tackled QB Aaron Rodgers on a fourth-quarter scramble for a first down.

Fantasy Tip: Bennett finished his first game in a Packer uniform with three receptions for 43 yards. He should be viewed as a low-end TE1 in the majority of fantasy formats.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers rested arm

Wed, 23 Aug 2017 08:28:50 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said he took the most time off of his career this offseason to rest his arm. "I worked hard in the offseason on my body and my core strength," Rodgers said. "I took a break from throwing for about a month. I kind of let my arm come all the way back. It's felt good this year, as usual. But my legs, I think, have felt better the last couple years than maybe the previous couple years, probably due to the training and maybe eating better. I think when your legs are underneath you and you're throwing from the ground up, you're probably going to be a little more accurate."

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers is now 33, but his fantasy value lies in his sheer dominance through the air. He ran for a career-high 369 yards last season, which really doesn't add a whole lot to his fantasy prowess. Look for him as a top three or four option at the position.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers excited for TE group

Thu, 29 Jun 2017 20:36:45 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said the additions of TE Martellus Bennett and TE Lance Kendricks give the offense more flexibility to run two-tight end sets. "Both guys can put their hand on the ground and go and block guys really well but also add that dimension in the passing game," Rodgers said.

Fantasy Tip: Bennett should headline the tight end group, and he is probably the best tight end Rodgers will have worked with. He should be able to produce TE1 numbers in Green Bay's potent passing attack.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers not worried about contract

Tue, 06 Jun 2017 16:49:24 -0700

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said his impending contract will take care of itself, adding that he's not worried about not being the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. Rodgers said he's going to continue to make himself an "indispensable" part of the Packers' roster. "When you do that, when your time comes up to get a contract, you usually get a contract extension.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, and he plays like it year after year. While drafting quarterbacks early isn't always the most economical fantasy strategy, Rodgers can and should be taken in earlier rounds.

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers had a 117.7 passer rating when targeting WR Jordy Nelson last year, the highest mark for any receiver in the NFL.

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams tied for second in the NFL with 12 touchdown receptions in 2016, and QB Aaron Rodgers said Adams was able to produce because he was finally healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Adams still has the occasional drop, but he proved to be a valuable weapon for the passing attack, especially in the red zone. At worst, he should be a high-end WR3 in 2017.

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers connected on 27 of 45 passes for 287 yards and three touchdown passes. He was sacked twice and intercepted once.

Fantasy Tip: Judging by his standards, this was a poor effort. Fantasy gamers were rewarded with a sound statistical performance, but it paled in comparison to Matt Ryan's monstrous showing. Rodgers will be among the top two or three quarterbacks drafted in most leagues next summer.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers thriving when pressured

Sat, 21 Jan 2017 17:40:00 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has been under duress on 28.8 percent of his drop-backs this season but has posted a 71.8 QBR when getting pressured, the second-best mark this season and fourth-best since 2009.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers has been brilliant for most of the second half of the season and is playing at a level few, if any, have approached at the moment. He has done a wonderful job recently of combining excellent pocket presence with sound decision-making outside the pocket, posting a 24:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio over his last nine outings. He'll need to continue playing at a high level Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, as most of his usual supporting cast is hurting.

Packers | Green Bay relying heavily on Aaron Rodgers

Fri, 20 Jan 2017 09:32:36 -0800

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has dropped back to pass 70 percent of the time during the playoffs this month - the highest rate of any team to win multiple games over the last 10 postseasons.

Fantasy Tip: With Rodgers playing as well as he ever has and Green Bay relying on receiver-turned-running back Ty Montgomery to carry the rushing attack, this isn't overly surprising. The Packers may not have much choice but to continue relying on the passing game despite a ton of injuries at receiver this weekend, as the Atlanta Falcons boast the league's highest-scoring offense and the Packers are decimated in the secondary.

Fantasy Tip: The injury wasn't serious enough to sideline Rodgers, who went 28-for-38 with 347 yards, four passing touchdowns and one rushing score Saturday. He should be viewed as an elite QB1 option versus the Detroit Lions in Week 17, in a game which will decide the fate of the NFC North.

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers went 28-of-38 for 347 yards and four touchdowns in Week 16 against the Minnesota Vikings. He added 16 yards and another score on the ground.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers accounted for four of his five touchdowns in the first half and sat for a good part of the fourth quarter, so the Vikings weren't exactly putting up a lot of resistance even as the Packers' offense slowed down after intermission. Rodgers should be expected to play his usual snaps in Week 17 and be an elite QB1 option as Green Bay faces the Detroit Lions in a game that will decide the NFC North.

Fantasy Tip: It was a disappointing day for Rodgers and his fantasy owners using him in important playoff matchups. He'll look to get untracked in Week 16, but he faces a tough matchup against the Minnesota Vikings strong pass defense.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers to face Chicago

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 06:23:46 -0800

Confirming a previous report, Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (calf) will start Week 15's game against the Chicago Bears. However, the team is expected to have three quarterbacks active in case he is unable to make it through the game.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers did not practice at all this week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Despite his limited mobility, he should still be considered a No. 1 quarterback in all seasonal leagues due to the favorable matchup, although DFS players would be wise to look for safer options.
