Redskins | Alex Smith, Jamison Crowder clicking

Wed, 06 Jun 2018 12:46:08 -0700

Washington Redskins QB Alex Smith and WR Jamison Crowder already appear to have good chemistry. According to NBCSportsWashington's Rich Tandler, Smith looked comfortable looking Crowder's way during goal-line plays at organized team activities Wednesday, June 6.

Fantasy Tip: It will do Crowder well to have new eyes looking his way, not that Kirk Cousins didn't look his way. Crowder was a breakout candidate last offseason but expectations were not met. He's a breakout candidate once again and a legitimate low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 in PPR formats.

Chiefs | KC officially trades Alex Smith

Wed, 14 Mar 2018 14:39:24 -0700

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith was officially traded to the Washington Redskins Wednesday, March 14, in exchange for CB Kendall Fuller and a 2018 third-round draft choice.

Fantasy Tip: Patrick Mahomes will take over as the starting quarterback for the Chiefs and has a chance to have success because of the pass catchers on the roster. Owners in most leagues should consider him a No. 2 quarterback, but he can be a No. 1 quarterback in keeper leagues.

Washington | Alex Smith trade to WAS official

Wed, 14 Mar 2018 14:33:28 -0700

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith was officially acquired by the Washington Redskins Wednesday, March 14, in exchange for CB Kendall Fuller and a 2018 third-round draft choice.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has posted solid numbers over the last several seasons and will have a nice group of pass catchers to work with in Washington. He probably should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in most leagues but could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback against favorable matchups.

Redskins | A Kirk Cousins tag and trade not realistic

Mon, 19 Feb 2018 13:30:25 -0800

Washington Redskins impending free-agent QB Kirk Cousins could theoretically be franchise tagged by the Redskins, but if that were to occur then Cousins would not entertain a long-term deal with his new team and he would make a whopping $34 million under the tag. If Cousins did not immediately sign the tag, he could not be traded anyway. Furthermore, the Redskins would not be able to do much else in free agency and also just traded for Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith.

Fantasy Tip: Tagging Cousins makes no sense from Washington's perspective, especially considering the recent acquisition of Smith. Cousins will be playing in a new city in 2018 and the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, New York Jets and Cleveland Browns are the most realistic suitors. Cousins will be a QB1 option wherever he plays, although Minnesota is his best-case scenario on paper.

Browns | Second-round pick offered for Alex Smith

Thu, 01 Feb 2018 23:26:33 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith was part of a trade agree to with the Washington Redskins. As part of the deal, the Redskins sent the Chiefs a third-round pick. The Cleveland Browns offered a second-round pick to the Chiefs for Smith, but they were not set on giving Smith the contract he agreed to with Washington.

Redskins | Alex Smith subpar versus NFC East

Wed, 31 Jan 2018 12:40:20 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has played relatively poorly against the NFC East in his career. In 18 career games versus the division Smith has averaged a scanty 217.4 yards and 1.2 touchdowns. Smith will be playing eight games in the NFC East.

Fantasy Tip: Smith is coming off a career year in which he threw for over 4,000 yards and 26 touchdowns. Furthermore, his yardage has increased each season since 2014. While he's not a reliable week-to-week No. 1 fantasy quarterback, he's a high-end backup option.

Browns | Cleveland made push for Alex Smith

Tue, 30 Jan 2018 20:31:36 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith, who was - in principle - traded to the Washington Redskins on Tuesday, Jan. 30, was reportedly also a target of the Cleveland Browns, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Before Cleveland fans get irate about the team's inability to land a quarterback, it is very likely Kansas City's front office received similar offers from Washington and Cleveland and did its best to accommodate its high-character veteran quarterback by sending him to a team with the better shot of winning right away. With Smith off the market, the Browns will almost certainly select a quarterback with one of their two first-round picks in April's draft.

Redskins | Washington reportedly extends Alex Smith

Tue, 30 Jan 2018 19:23:12 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith, who was reportedly traded to the Washington Redskins late in the night Tuesday, Jan. 30, has agreed to a four-year, $94 million contract extension that will keep him with the Redskins though the end of the 2022 season. The deal will reportedly include approximately $70 million in guaranteed money. Per NFL rules, the trade cannot be officially completed until the first day of the new league year (3 p.m. on March 14).

Fantasy Tip: The extension was part of the agreement to get the trade done - Smith had only one year remaining on his old deal - and he will be under contract through his age-38 season. While the official compensation has yet to be announced, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports it will include a third-round pick and a player to be named Wednesday. Smith provides Washington with a solid option under center as it moves on from Kirk Cousins, but he figures to fall back into QB2 territory as a result of the trade.

Redskins | Washington reportedly lands Alex Smith

Tue, 30 Jan 2018 19:08:08 -0800

The Washington Redskins reportedly reached an agreement to acquire Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith on Tuesday, Jan. 30. While the compensation the Chiefs will receive has yet to be released and any trade involving Smith can't be completed until the first day of the new league year (3 p.m. on March 14), sources say the deal is in place and will proceed.

Fantasy Tip: So long, Kirk Cousins. The Redskins also reportedly signed Smith to a four-year extension, so Cousins will be on the move and Smith has some degree of stability as he enters his age-34 season in 2018. Smith won't have quite the offensive firepower he had to work with in Kansas City, so owners should be prepared to lower their expectations for him back down to pre-2017 levels, making him an unexciting QB2 for fantasy purposes.

Chiefs | Alex Smith reportedly dealt to Washington

Tue, 30 Jan 2018 18:56:09 -0800

The Kansas City Chiefs reportedly reached an agreement to trade QB Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins on Tuesday, Jan. 30. While the compensation the Chiefs will receive has yet to be released and any trade involving Smith can't be completed until the first day of the new league year (3 p.m. on March 14), sources say the deal is in place and will proceed.

Fantasy Tip: Smith was expected to attract a second-round pick, so it's a fair bet the Redskins gave up at least that much. The trade obviously clears a path for rookie Patrick Mahomes to take over, and he will certainly enter 2018 as a wild-card for fantasy purposes. Mahomes has a huge arm and can create plays with his leges, but with only a Week 17 game under his belt this year, he is still plenty raw. He should be considered an inconsistent QB2 for fantasy purposes this summer.

Chiefs | Alex Smith not close to retiring

Tue, 30 Jan 2018 15:56:28 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has played 13 seasons in the NFL but is not close to hanging up his cleats. "I love what I do too much, I love the challenge of it, I still feel great, my body feels great," Smith said.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has quietly put up consistent numbers over the last few years, but he doesn't do enough to be considered a weekly QB1 option. While his future is unclear as of now, he will likely be in high-end QB2 territory no matter what jersey he's wearing.

Chiefs | Alex Smith hopeful for return to KC

Tue, 30 Jan 2018 09:18:36 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith told The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday, Jan. 30, that his preference is to return to the team in 2018.

Fantasy Tip: It's not like Smith could have realistically answered with anything else, although he acknowledged the situation is out of his control. Usually, a 33-year-old quarterback coming off a career season doesn't have to face such questions, but Kansas City seems to be itching to get the Patrick Mahomes era started as soon as possible. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns are among the destinations that make the most sense at the moment if/when Smith gets traded this spring.

Browns | Alex Smith linked to Browns

Tue, 09 Jan 2018 06:18:55 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith could be an option for the Cleveland Browns after the Browns hired general manager John Dorsey, in the opinion of The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Dan Labbe. Dorsey was the Chiefs' general manager when he acquired Smith from the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Smith was one of the best quarterbacks in fantasy through the first four weeks of 2017, but he was inconsistent the rest of the way. He finished as a midrange QB1, and that might not be attainable with a different roster. There are options in that low-end QB1/high-end QB2 range with more upside.

Chiefs | Alex Smith throws two TDs in Wild Card loss

Sat, 06 Jan 2018 17:14:05 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith went 24-for-33 for 264 yards and two touchdowns in a Wild Card loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Smith did all he could to keep the Chiefs from surrendering a 19-point halftime lead. In the end Smith completed about three-fourths of his passes with no glaring mistakes. Look to see where Smith ends up in 2018. Right now he's a lower-end QB1 but that could change if Smith goes to a team with fewer offensive weapons.

Chiefs | KC open to trading Alex Smith?

Sat, 06 Jan 2018 09:12:04 -0800

The Kansas City Chiefs will not actively seek out trade partners for QB Alex Smith this offseason, but they will listen, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, who speculated the one thing that may cause "all sides to pull back" is if the Chiefs make a run to the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: Kansas City drafted its quarterback of the future last spring in Patrick Mahomes, who has consistently turned heads in practice and left another positive impression by going 22-of-35 for 284 yards with an interception against the Denver Broncos in his first career start in Week 17. If Smith is put on the market, there will be no shortage of suitors, with former Chiefs boss John Dorsey - now with the Cleveland Browns - at the top of the list.

Chiefs | Alex Smith shatters small-ball tag

Wed, 03 Jan 2018 09:31:04 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith led the league with 17 completions on passes thrown at least 30 yards downfield this season. By comparison, he had 16 such completions combined from 2013 to 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Whether it was the threat of Patrick Mahomes early or the maturation of Tyreek Hill into a more complete receiver or the dominance of Travis Kelce, Smith didn't look nearly as hesitant in trying to hit the big play as he has for the bulk of his career. He's earned the right to come back as the starter in the final year of his contract in 2018, but it remains to be seen how quickly the Chiefs want to turn the offense over to Mahomes.

Chiefs | Alex Smith goes over 300 yards

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 17:32:37 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith completed 25 of his 39 pass attempts for 304 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 16 against the Miami Dolphins and he also ran four times for 13 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Smith and the Chiefs hit a bump in the road midway through the season, losing six of seven game. The QB turned it over four times from Nov. 5-26, but he has righted the ship and the Chiefs are going well again with three straight wins. He posted his fifth 300-yard game of the season for fantasy owners who stuck with him in the championship game.

Chiefs | Alex Smith throwing well on deep balls

Mon, 11 Dec 2017 14:43:00 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has thrown 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions on passes that are at least 20 yards past the line of scrimmage. He had thrown 12 touchdowns and eight interceptions on such passes in the previous six years combined.

Fantasy Tip: Smith is easily having the best passing season of his career. He has shed his reputation as being shy on throwing deep passes, thanks in large part to speed demon and deep threat Tyreek Hill. Smith remains a starting fantasy quarterback for the last few weeks of the season.

Chiefs | Alex Smith underperforming at home

Tue, 05 Dec 2017 11:30:08 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has averaged 238.2 yards and thrown just five touchdowns in five home games this season compared to 292.6 yards and 18 touchdowns in seven road games.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for those in the playoffs who own Smith, the Chiefs play at home this week against the Oakland Raiders. That's not to say that Smith is an automatic no go, but the numbers are incredibly swayed. It is an OK matchup and after last week Smith is a low-end QB1 candidate.

Chiefs | Alex Smith has monster game

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 14:16:45 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith went 19-for-33 for 366 yards and four touchdowns against the New York Jets in Week 13. He also rushed for 70 yards on one carry during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Smith recorded his fourth 300-yard game of the season and tied his season-high with four touchdowns. He has a chance to have some success against the Oakland Raiders in Week 14 and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues.

Chiefs | Alex Smith gets vote of confidence

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 10:33:17 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid reaffirmed QB Alex Smith will remain his starter for the foreseeable future on Monday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: While Smith's unwillingness to anticipate throws is causing some of the problem, Reid's creativity seems to have gone out the window too. Defenses are playing much more zone against the Chiefs and the offensive line isn't holding up nearly as well, which is causing Smith to revert to some of his old habit of leaving the pocket sooner than he should. A switch to rookie Patrick Mahomes in the near future is unlikely but much more of a possibility than anyone could have imagined last month.

Chiefs | Alex Smith throws TD, INT

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 14:39:49 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith went 23-for-36 for 199 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Buffalo Bills in Week 12. He also rushed for 35 yards on five carries during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has played well at times this season but does have four interceptions over the last three games. He will be facing the New York Jets next week, but owners should be able to find better options for their starting lineups.

Chiefs | Alex Smith unlikely to be benched

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 07:30:30 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith is not expected to be benched this season even though the team has struggled over the last several weeks, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The Chiefs have lost four of their last five games, but Smith has thrown seven touchdowns and three interceptions during that span. He should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in most leagues that could start against favorable matchups.

Chiefs | Alex Smith throws two INTs

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 14:10:26 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith went 27-for-40 for 230 yards and two interceptions against the New York Giants in Week 11. He also rushed for 27 yards on five carries during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Smith failed to throw a touchdown in a game for the first time this season even though it was expected to be a favorable matchup. He has also thrown three interceptions in the last two games. He will face the Buffalo Bills in Week 12 and can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Chiefs | Alex Smith takes ownership of record

Mon, 06 Nov 2017 20:36:52 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith broke retired QB Bernie Kosar's NFL record for consecutive pass attempts to start a season without throwing an interception, making it to 287 passes before throwing his first one in the team's Week 9 game Sunday, Nov. 5. He broke Kosar's record by one.

Fantasy Tip: Smith still had yet another terrific game on Sunday night despite his Chiefs dropping to 6-3 with the loss in Dallas. In fact, he's having one of the best seasons of any quarterback in the league this year, leading everyone in QB Rating (113.9) while amassing 18 touchdown passes and 2,444 yards in nine games. As a result, he's established himself as a perennial QB1.

Chiefs | Lackluster Monday night for Alex Smith

Mon, 30 Oct 2017 22:01:54 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith had a season-worst performance in the team's Week 8 win Monday, Oct. 30, versus the Denver Broncos, completing just 14 of 31 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown. He also added four rushes for 33 yards, while losing a fumble as well.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has been so terrific this year that tonight's poor outing can be forgiven, especially since he was squaring off with one of the best defenses in the league. At the end of the day, he's been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season, though it's fair to wonder if perhaps he's coming down considerably from his peak that was the first seven weeks of the campaign.

Chiefs | Alex Smith in midst of career year

Mon, 23 Oct 2017 13:50:19 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith (72.4%) is on pace to break the NFL's single-season completion percentage record, which was set last year by Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford. Smith is also on track to best several personal records, including yards, yards per attempt, touchdowns and rating.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has arguably been the biggest surprise of the 2017 season. He's been a completely different player from a production standpoint. It may not feel right, but Smith has cemented himself as an every-week QB1 option.

Chiefs | Alex Smith lights up Raiders

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 21:47:58 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith went 25-for-36 for 342 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions during the team's Week 7 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: After scuffling a bit against the Steelers, Smith bounced back by topping the 300-yard passing mark for the third time this season -- for comparison, he surpassed that number just once all of last year. Smith also passed for multiple scores for the fourth time and has yet to throw an interception this season. The veteran continues to play the best ball of his career and is a must start for fantasy owners.

Chiefs | Alex Smith toys with the Raiders

Tue, 17 Oct 2017 20:30:39 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has completed 63 percent of his passes and boasts a 19:4 touchdown-to-interception ratio in 10 career games against the Oakland Raiders. Since joining the Chiefs, Smith has played in 67 games; in seven of them he finished with better than a 9.89 yards per attempt average, four of which have come versus Oakland.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has been throwing downfield more often and with more success than ever in 2017. The Raiders really haven't made too many strides when it comes to stopping quarterbacks from last year, so start Smith with confidence for Thursday Night Football this week.

Chiefs | Alex Smith throws for 246 yards, TD

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 18:59:03 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith completed 19 of his 34 pass attempts for 246 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while running four times for 13 yards in Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers seem to be the kryptonite for Smith and the Chiefs. It wasn't a terrible game for Smith, but nowhere near some of the stat lines he has posted earlier in the season. He and his teammates do not have much time to mope, as they'll be back in action Thursday on the road against the Raiders.

Chiefs | Alex Smith out to historic start

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 20:59:18 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith tied the NFL record for most touchdown passes (11) without throwing an interception in the first five games to begin a season in the Super Bowl era.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has really been something, vaulting himself to legitimate QB1 status on a weekly basis. The Chiefs' offense has surprisingly been a juggernaut this year, leading the NFL in points scored with 164, and Smith has obviously been a huge reason for that. If owners have another QB1 option on their roster, though, it would actually be a smart idea to try and trade Smith at his peak to a quarterback-needy team.

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 16:20:29 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 5.

Wed, 04 Oct 2017 14:57:22 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Smith should be able to play against the Houston Texans this week and has thrown eight touchdowns and zero interceptions in four games this season. He could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues but owners in most leagues may have better options to use in their starting lineups.

Chiefs | Alex Smith stuffs the stat sheet on MNF

Mon, 02 Oct 2017 21:58:29 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith completed 27 of 37 passes for 293 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 4 win Monday, Oct. 2, against the Washington Redskins. He also ran seven times for 56 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Wow, about a quarter of the way into the 2017 season and Smith has been as superb as any quarterback in the league. The former No. 1 overall draft pick has looked remarkably consistent thus far, having completed more than 73 percent of his passes in each of Kansas City's four games, while having accounted for nine touchdowns and zero turnovers. There's no question he's a QB1 right now, but odds are he's peaked and his production figures to go down a bit sooner than later.

Chiefs | Alex Smith tosses pair of touchdowns

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 18:33:49 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith completed 16 of his 21 pass attempts for 155 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 3 road game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Smith didn't throw the ball down the field much, and frankly he didn't have time. He was sacked five times. But Smith was aided again by the running of rookie Kareem Hunt, and Smith did just enough to not make mistakes and lead his team to another win. He isn't a huge fantasy asset, but he isn't a bad No. 2 option in most leagues heading into Week 4 against the Redskins on Monday Night Football.

Chiefs | Alex Smith gets big Week 2 win

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 14:21:48 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith was 21-for-28 for 251 yards and scored one touchdown in a 27-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: The one touchdown happened to be a go-ahead score to Travis Kelce. Smith only missed on seven of his passes, so with an approximate hit rate of 75 percent that constitutes a good day. And the Chiefs are 2-0, which is even bigger. Smith's first two starts help him maintain status as a QB1 option.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce backs Alex Smith

Sat, 09 Sep 2017 19:37:09 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce endorsed QB Alex Smith as the starting quarterback. "He's my quarterback," Kelce said. "I'll take him every single day of the week, no matter what."

Fantasy Tip: Smith had a monster game against the Patriots in Week 1, but fantasy owners shouldn't overreact. He is still more of a game manager than a playmaker, and he remains a QB2.

Chiefs | Alex Smith lights up the Pats

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 21:18:43 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith completed 28 of 35 passes for 368 yards and four touchdowns against the New England Patriots on Thursday, Sept. 7. It was Smith's first 300-plus-yard passing game since Week 1 of 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Not only was Smith efficient, he had two completions of more than 70 yards -- a rarity in Kansas City's usually conservative attack. While it's unwise to overreact to a single performance, there's no question the Chiefs' offense looked more dynamic than it has in years with Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Kareem Hunt looking like playmakers. If Smith went undrafted, he'd be worth bringing on board as your No. 2 passer.

Chiefs | No quarterback controversy in KC

Sat, 02 Sep 2017 16:54:23 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith is in no danger of losing his job despite an impressive preseason from rookie Patrick Mahomes, according to general manager Brett Veach. "There is no gray area. Alex is so far advanced from the mental side of things in regard to his ability to read coverages, to shift us out of plays and really play the chess game. He's so far ahead of where Pat is. I don't think it's even close right now," Veach said.

Fantasy Tip: Mahomes showed the kind of physical skill in the preseason that made him such a sought-after prospect this spring and gives the Chiefs plenty of hope for the future, but he is still a raw prospect in a complicated offense. His future is bright, but Kansas City needs to hope it doesn't find out how bright until at least 2018.

Chiefs | Rough outing for Alex Smith

Fri, 25 Aug 2017 21:05:59 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs RB Alex Smith completed seven of his 17 passes for 44 yards in a 26-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the preseason Friday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Smith isn't known for big stat lines, but this was ugly even by his standards. His complete lack of upside limits him to low-end QB2 status.

Chiefs | Alex Smith the guy

Mon, 21 Aug 2017 08:42:06 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith is the team's unquestioned starting quarterback, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Fantasy Tip: Patrick Mahomes has been turning heads in camp, but Smith doesn't appear on the hot seat. What's not hot, however, is his fantasy stock. He's a mediocre QB2 in fantasy.

Chiefs | Alex Smith has solid outing

Sun, 20 Aug 2017 13:28:06 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith went 8-for-9 for 83 yards and one touchdown in the preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals Saturday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has been a consistent player since has signed with the Chiefs and threw for a career-high 3,502 yards in 2016. He recorded 20 total touchdowns last season but probably should only be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Chiefs | Alex Smith to play first half

Wed, 16 Aug 2017 17:38:03 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith will play the first half of the team's preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals Saturday, Aug. 19, according to head coach Andy Reid. QB Patrick Mahomes will play the third quarter, while QB Tyler Bray will play the fourth quarter.

Fantasy Tip: Smith recorded 3,502 yards and 20 total touchdowns in 2016 and probably will post similar numbers this season. He probably should be considered a low-end No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.
