Falcons | Roddy White has support from owner

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 18:45:56 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White would finish his career with the team if owner Arthur Blank had his way, but Blank said the final decision on White's future will be made by head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: It is starting to sound like White will be returning to the Falcons in 2016, but after his lackluster performance last season, he would be nothing more than a late-round flier for fantasy purposes.

Falcons | Roddy White staying in Atlanta?

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 18:09:51 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White was praised by head coach Dan Quinn, and the team is leaning toward keeping White on the team in 2016. "We are still going through it," Quinn said Thursday, Feb. 4. "We're getting there. We are not there yet, but we're getting close."

Fantasy Tip: White drew just 70 targets last season, and if he returns to the Falcons, it seems unlikely the team would suddenly decide to have the veteran become more involved. At best, he is a late-round flier in fantasy drafts.

Falcons | No decision yet on Roddy White

Fri, 29 Jan 2016 18:47:47 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White's future with the team has not yet been decided, according to general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

Fantasy Tip: White's numbers fell off the map last year, and if he is back with the Falcons in 2016, he is a late-round flier at best in fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Roddy White won't take pay cut

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 09:43:43 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said he wasn't interested in a pay cut to remain with the Falcons. He's due $4.25 million in 2016 and will count $6,043,750 against the salary cap.

Fantasy Tip: White had a 43-506-1 season, and at 34, it's hard to envision that improving a lot. If he lands in a new offense, maybe he's worth a WR5 flyer.

Falcons | Roddy White probable for Week 17

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 12:18:05 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle) was a full participant in practice Friday, Jan. 1, and is listed as probable for the Week 17 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: After upping his practice involvement all week, White ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) enters flier territory at FantasyScore this weekend. The Saints have allowed 43 passing touchdowns this season, and while it has been an awful campaign for the veteran, he is cheap and there is upside for a solid fantasy return to finish the season.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman, Roddy White limited

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 12:23:00 -0800

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) and WR Roddy White (ankle) were limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) and White should still be able to go in Week 17 despite their limited statuses. They have a tremendous matchup against the New Orleans Saints, who have been the worst fantasy defense versus running backs and the fourth worst fantasy defense against wide receivers. Freeman is definitely worth his FantasyScore price for the last week of the season, while White should be viewed as a flex or WR3.

Falcons | Roddy White wants to stay

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 14:35:08 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said he would like to remain with the Falcons as long as he is under contract, despite the fact that his role has diminished under new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan this year. White is signed through the 2017 season and remains the franchise's all-time leading receiver with 807 catches for 10,853 yards and 63 touchdowns. He has only 42 catches for 496 yards and one score this year, however.

Fantasy Tip: White ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) hasn't really been on the radar of any fantasy football players this year, and for good reason with his reduced role. However, in a great matchup with the New Orleans Saints to finish out the season, he could return excellent value on FantasyScore. Don't blindly pass him up.

Falcons | Roddy White not practicing

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 14:20:12 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle) was not practicing Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: If ever there was a game in which White ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) could produce notable numbers, Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints and that awful defense would be it. White only has one touchdown on the season, but he's a notable deep sleeper on FantasyScore to close out the year.

Falcons | Roddy White mostly invisible again

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 15:49:40 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White hauled in four receptions for 35 yards in the Week 14 game against the Carolina Panthers. He was targeted five times.

Fantasy Tip: White continues to post underwhelming numbers while not seeing as many targets as he feels he deserves. It wouldn't be surprising if White were in the final days wearing an Atlanta uniform.

Falcons | Roddy White continues to struggle

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 21:26:21 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White posted three receptions for 33 yards in the Week 13 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: White opened the season with 84 receiving yards, and he has posted more than 48 yards just once since Week 1. He has gone from fantasy stud to a player to avoid in just one season.

Falcons | Roddy White had plays designed for him

Tue, 24 Nov 2015 09:01:35 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White had the first two plays of the game Sunday, Nov. 22, designed for him, according to QB Matt Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: White ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had just four catches for 24 yards on nine targets last week. It's safe to say the 34-year-old doesn't hold much FantasyScore weight for Week 12 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Falcons | Roddy White will have chances

Tue, 17 Nov 2015 08:45:45 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White remains an "important part of the team and will continue to get opportunities in the second half of 2015," according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds nice, but we need to see evidence of it. White ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has the matchup to prove it against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11. He's a basement filler option on FantasyScore if you believe the rhetoric.

Falcons | Roddy White wants the ball more

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 22:49:02 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said Sunday, Nov. 8, that he wants more chances to make plays. He was held to one catch for 20 yards in the Week 9 game against the San Francisco 49ers. "I would like to be more involved in the offense but it is what it is," White said. "I'm going to go out there and run the plays that are called and block as hard as I can and help my team win."

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has been targeted just 17 times over his past five games and isn't seeing the ball enough to warrant using in FantasyScore.

Falcons | Roddy White wants the ball more

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 19:34:19 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said he would like to more involved in the offense following a 17-16 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Even with Leonard Hankerson sidelined, White ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) managed just one catch for 20 yards against the 49ers. Despite the cheap price tag, he can't be trusted at FantasyScore.

Falcons | Roddy White listed as probable

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 12:30:37 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 23, and is listed as probable for the Week 7 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) should be able to play this week but his role in the passing game has decreased as the season has gone on. He has not posted more than 23 receiving yards since Week 1 and has only 11 receptions on the year. Owners probably will able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Falcons | Two Atlanta receivers limited

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 13:10:39 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WRs Leonard Hankerson (hamstring, ribs) and Roddy White (foot) were limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Hankerson ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has been a better option than White ($3,600, 7.2%) all year. The Tennessee Titans have been tough versus wide receivers this season, but Hankerson is probably the less risky play on FantasyScore.

Falcons | Roddy White takes part in some drills

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 13:44:31 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (foot) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) was able to score a touchdown last week but has not posted more than 23 receiving yards since Week 1. It appears that White has dropped on the depth chart and is not the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Falcons | Roddy White finds the end zone

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 21:22:19 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White caught his first touchdown of the season, finishing with three catches for 23 yards in a 31-21 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Although White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) scored, Leonard Hankerson ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) still finished with more targets and yards. White should still be considered a risky play at FantasyScore moving forward.

Falcons | Roddy White not seeing targets

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 09:20:57 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White has played the most offensive snaps (305) of any wide receiver in the league, but he is the fifth-most targeted player on his own team, and he's on pace for his worst statistical season in his career and hasn't caught a touchdown in seven straight games.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a nice matchup against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6 Thursday night, White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) and his lack of targets can't be trusted in any fantasy format. It looks like this is the beginning of the end for his fantasy value in general unless an injury opens up more looks for him in this offense.

Falcons | Roddy White quiet again in Week 5

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 20:06:59 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White posted just two receptions for 23 yards in the Week 5 game against the Washington Redskins. He was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) called for the ball more this week, but apparently that fell on deaf ears. He is no longer a trusted FantasyScore option at this point.

Falcons | Roddy White not available

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 08:02:55 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White is not available in a trade and is considered an important part of the offense, according to a high-ranking team official. The official said the Falcons have not received any calls from other teams.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has seen limited targets over the past few weeks but could see more work as the season goes on. Owners probably should avoid using White until he is able post more consistent numbers.

Falcons | Roddy White on trade block?

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 07:19:53 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White is receiving interest from at least three teams looking to acquire him before the trade deadline. The team may consider moving him if WR Leonard Hankerson makes more plays in the upcoming weeks. It may be hard for the team to trade White since he is scheduled to make $5 million this season and they are not expected to take on any of that money.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has caught only six passes so far this season for 92 yards. It does not look like White is a big factor in the Falcons' offense at this time, so a trade probably would help his value. Owners probably should avoid White until he is more productive.

Falcons | Roddy White should be in uniform

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 14:47:32 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 9, and is listed as probable for the Week 5 game against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has not produced like he has in the past and his role in the offense is uncertain at this point. Owners may want to consider looking at other options since White has only 92 receiving yards on the season.

Falcons | Roddy White encouraged about his role

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 19:16:16 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White met with head coach Dan Quinn Thursday, Oct. 8, and said he is encouraged about his role and is taking a positive attitude into the Week 5 matchup against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has just six catches all year, including two in his last three games combined. With Julio Jones ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) the unquestioned top target and Leonard Hankerson ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) emerging, White doesn't figure to be a worthwhile play at FantasyScore any time soon.

Falcons | Roddy White takes part in practice

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 13:20:44 -0700

Correcting a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 8. White did miss practice Wednesday, Oct. 7, because of a personal matter.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) was with his mother Wednesday because she was undergoing surgery but should be fine for the Week 5 game against the Washington Redskins. White has been frustrated with his role so far but could see more work moving forward. Owners may want to wait to see if he receives more targets before using him in their lineups.

Falcons | Roddy White out of practice

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 10:01:11 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White missed practice Thursday, Oct. 8, to be with his mother, who was having surgery.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has been a non-factor this season and isn't a good option on FantasyScore against the Washington Redskins.

Falcons | Roddy White sits out of practice

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 14:22:41 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has been one of the bigger disappointments from a fantasy perspective at wide receiver this year. For now, he's avoidable until he starts putting up bigger numbers.

Falcons | Roddy White to see more looks?

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 12:26:08 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White, who was excused from practice for personal reasons Wednesday, Oct. 7, could see more looks in the near future after he expressed concern for his lack of catches this week. "He's somebody that we think the world of and think a ton of. The (opportunities) will be there, although they weren't in some of the games. We certainly think that they will be moving forward," head coach Dan Quinn said.

Fantasy Tip: That doesn't mean that Atlanta will come out and give White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) double-digit targets in Week 5 against the Washington Redskins, but they could draw up some plays specifically for him. Regardless, he's fallen down the depth chart and shouldn't be trusted right now on FantasyScore despite his demands.

Falcons | Roddy White keeping his cool

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 13:55:06 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said there's nothing to get mad about in regards to his slow start this season. White said all he can do is run the routes he's supposed to run and do his job. He added that he knows he'll get his chances because of how defenses will play against their offense. White's streak of 130 games with a catch ended against the New York Giants in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has been one of the more disappointing wide receivers in fantasy football this year. He has been one of the more consistent receivers in PPR leagues over his career, but he seems to be on a downward swing. Avoiding him until he starts producing is probably a wise move.

Falcons | Roddy White frustrated

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 11:36:36 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White is fifth on the team in receiving with just six catches for 92 yards on 12 targets after four games, and he was held without a catch in back-to-back games in Weeks 2 and 3. "For me, at the end of the day, I want to catch passes," White said. "I'm not out here just f---ing around just to sit around to just block f---ing people all day. It's not what I want to do." Despite having his knee drained in minicamp, White says he's not having problems getting open or creating separation from opposing defenses.

Fantasy Tip: Much like Andre Johnson in Indianapolis, White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is aging and is having to adjust to a decreased role on offense. Leonard Hankerson has effectively passed White on the receiving depth chart. White should be left to the waiver wire in standard fantasy leagues and can't be relied on with any kind of consistency on FantasyScore for the time being.

Falcons | Roddy White open to trade?

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 10:32:15 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White could be open to a trade due to a declining role with the Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: White ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has quickly disappeared in Atlanta's offense and has essentially been surpassed on the depth chart by Leonard Hankerson. White has just six catches on 12 targets in four games this year, and he had zero targets in two contests. He can't be trusted anywhere right now but could see his fantasy value revived if he lands somewhere else.

Falcons | Leonard Hankerson moving up depth chart

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 08:02:56 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Leonard Hankerson has started to cut into WR Roddy White's playing time, and the team considers both players their No. 2 receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Hankerson ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is coming off a game where he posted 77 receiving yards and a touchdown. White ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) did not make any catches in Week 2 but should continue to see targets in the passing game. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Hankerson because of his small price tag.

Falcons | Roddy White not worried about role

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 18:09:40 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White had his streak of 130 straight games with a catch snapped in Week 2, but he said he is not worried about his role and will do whatever he needs to do to help the team win.

Fantasy Tip: Julio Jones ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) is the clear go-to target for the Falcons, and White ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is now competing with the likes of Leonard Hankerson ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) for the remaining targets. White will still have some solid outings, but he is likely to be a hit-and-miss option at FantasyScore throughout the season.

Falcons | Quiet afternoon for Roddy White

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 16:59:58 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White had zero catches on one target in a 24-20 win over the New York Giants in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: It was no surprise that Julio Jones ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) saw the most targets, but Leonard Hankerson ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) appeared to be the secondary option, catching six passes for 77 yards and a score. Age isn't on White's ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) side, so it is worth keeping an eye on the situation going forward.

Falcons | Roddy White posts four catches

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 22:29:34 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White hauled in four receptions for 84 yards in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, Sept. 14. He was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: White ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has had some injuries in the past couple of seasons, and he isn't as highly thought of in fantasy circles anymore, but he clearly still has something left in the tank for FantasyScore players at a mid-level price.

Falcons | Roddy White probable

Sat, 12 Sep 2015 11:40:07 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (elbow) is listed as probable against the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: White ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) and Julio Jones should see a good amount of targets in what could very well be a shootout with the Eagles. He's not a bad play on FantasyScore at a relatively cheap price with a good matchup.

Falcons | Roddy White takes part in practice

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 13:47:39 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (elbow) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: White ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has been sidelined for a few weeks because of surgery but looks like he should be active against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. Owners should continue to monitor his recovery to see if there are any setbacks, but he could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore if healthy.

Falcons | Roddy White has full practice

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 14:03:55 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (elbow) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: White ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is somewhat of a risky play this week as he hadn't seen any action in the preseason. Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles could be a shootout, though, so White should still be considered on FantasyScore.

Falcons | Roddy White back at practice

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 10:28:04 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (elbow) returned to practice Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Fantasy Tip: White ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) hasn't played at all since having elbow surgery Aug. 23, although there's no indication that he won't be ready to play in Week 1 Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Falcons might need to pass a lot to keep up with Philly, but counting on a less-than-100-percent White is very risky in daily leagues.

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 14:53:10 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (elbow) is expected to participate in some activities next week with a pad on his surgically repaired elbow.

Fantasy Tip: White's status for Week 1 is uncertain at this point, so owners will need to check on his practice participation. White should have a solid role in the passing game this season and could be a middle-round option in most leagues.

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 13:23:39 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (elbow) will not play in the third preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29.

Fantasy Tip: White underwent surgery earlier in the week but there is a chance he could be ready for Week 1. Owners will need to monitor his practice participation over the next few weeks to determine his status for the opener. White should be an option in the middle rounds of drafts.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (elbow) will undergo a minor surgical procedure on his right elbow but is expected to be ready for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: White is no longer an elite receiver, but he should still make a strong WR3 playing across from Julio Jones, and he could creep into WR2 territory in points-per-reception formats.

Falcons | Roddy White thinks highly of offense

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 17:23:16 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said Monday, Aug. 17, he thinks the team's offense has the ability to average 30 points per game in 2015 under offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's scheme.

Fantasy Tip: White said the backfield of Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman will be able to run the ball this season, something the Falcons were unable to do with much success in 2014.

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 12:37:15 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (knee) had his left knee drained before minicamp, and he could have it drained again before the season ends. White isn't concerned about it, though. He said he's able to recover quickly from the draining and wouldn't miss a game because of it.

Fantasy Tip: White still has some gas left in the tank, despite the odometer being high. He is still able to put up respectable numbers if he can stay on the field. You can comfortably draft him as a WR3 in PPR leagues.

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (leg) will not be granted days off once training camp begins, despite his veteran status and recent leg and ankle issues, according to head coach Dan Quinn. White did miss two days of minicamp.

Fantasy Tip: White hasn't played in all 16 games for two straight years. Last season was not a complete disappointment, however, as White still managed 921 yards and 7 touchdowns in 14 games. He has more value in point-per-reception leagues as he has caught at least 80 passes in seven of his last eight seasons. Draft him as a WR2 in PPR leagues and as a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 in standard scoring leagues.

Falcons | Roddy White sitting out

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (undisclosed) is out for the second straight day Wednesday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: White has a sleeve on his left leg, but it's unknown if he's out with an injury or rest. White battled numerous injuries and still turned in a 80-921-7 season. He's 33, poses a lot of injury risk, but he's still a rock-solid WR2 in PPR leagues.

Falcons | Roddy White not concerned with role

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 16:26:05 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said he is not concerned about the possibility of seeing fewer targets in offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's system. "I've never concerned myself about that," White said. "When we had Mike Mularkey (as offensive coordinator), we ran the ball and we found ways to get me the ball. I never worry about passes or things like that. My opportunities are going to come. I just have got to hold onto the ball and make my plays when I have to make them."

Fantasy Tip: White's best years are behind him, but after an injury-plagued 2013 season, he did bounce back in 2014, finishing with 80 catches for 921 yards and seven scores in 14 games. White should be considered a solid WR4 with WR3 potential in PPR formats.

Falcons | Atlanta's RBs to be busy?

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 16:20:28 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman and RB Devonta Freeman are set to open training camp as the primary ball-carriers, and WR Roddy White said he expects the offense to run the ball a lot more in 2015. "I just don't think we're going to go out there and throw it 30, 40 times a game like we did in the past," White said. "I'm not saying that we didn't like that, but it's going to be different. We have to get back to our old (style) where we run the football. Play-action passes and convert on third downs."

Fantasy Tip: Although new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan may want to run the ball more, Atlanta's best weapons are still in the passing game. Coleman and Freeman should both see some carries this year, but until a pecking order is established, both players should be considered mid-round picks in fantasy drafts.
