Tue, 28 Oct 2014 13:10:57 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin and WR Vincent Jackson were not traded as the NFL trade deadline passed Tuesday, Oct. 28, despite several rumors leading up to the deadline.

Buccaneers | Bucs want a lot for Vincent Jackson

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 09:15:42 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson likely would cost an interested team a second-round draft choice if they wanted to acquire him in a trade before the trade deadline, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that a Jackson trade is unlikely at this time, but owners will need to monitor the situation over the next few days. Jackson's value could increase depending on which team would acquire him.

Buccaneers | Vincent Jackson wants to stay

Thu, 23 Oct 2014 15:31:42 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson, who has been the subject of trade rumors lately, said he prefers to remain with the team. "In this business, those kinds of things get talked about quite often. Each and every year, there's going to be guys moved around to different teams," Jackson said. "I'm not surprised by it. Obviously I appreciate teams' interest, but I'm happy here in Tampa. I've heard nothing here that would suggest I'm going anywhere. I'm going to let that pass on and keep doing my job." Jackson leads the team in with 25 catches for 344 yards and two touchdowns this year.

Fantasy Tip: A trade to a contender would likely raise Jackson's fantasy football value, but he has seen an uptick in value with Mike Glennon as the starter. Jackson's FantasyScore price of $5,900 (11.8% of cap) looks nice in the matchup versus the Minnesota Vikings coming off a bye week.

Buccaneers | Bucs not shopping Vincent Jackson

Mon, 20 Oct 2014 14:29:17 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson's name came up over the weekend in reports that the team was fielding phone calls from interested teams, but head coach Lovie Smith said Monday, Oct. 20, that the team isn't interested in trading their star receiver.

Fantasy Tip: The Bucs could still wind up trading Jackson if they receive an offer too good to pass up. If Jackson is dealt, Mike Evans would gain serious fantasy football value. Louis Murphy, who has developed excellent chemistry with Mike Glennon, would receive a boost in value, too.

Tue, 14 Oct 2014 14:27:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson is fifth among wide receivers in targets (60) but has converted just 25 of them into catches.

Fantasy Tip: That's not all Jackson's fault, of course. Quarterback play has hampered his value. The silver lining is that he is getting a lot of opportunities. The results will come eventually.

Sun, 05 Oct 2014 20:10:17 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson had eight receptions for 144 yards in the Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans out 2-3 weeks

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 08:50:40 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (groin) will reportedly miss two or three weeks with a strained groin.

Fantasy Tip: Louis Murphy will likely move into the starting lineup, which makes him a fringe flex option on FantasyScore. Vincent Jackson will probably receive more attention from defenses now, which could hurt his stock slightly. TE Brandon Myers could play a larger role in the offense and is a fringe option at the position. TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who had 3 catches for 44 yards in Week 4, is also a benefactor and could move into the fringe/bargain bin options at tight end.

Sat, 27 Sep 2014 15:46:49 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has a good chance to start for the rest of the season, in the opinion of beat writer Greg Auman.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon has a big arm, and this could pay dividends for WR Vincent Jackson the rest of the way. Glennon doesn't have much fantasy value at this time, but he could become a matchup play.

Buccaneers | Vincent Jackson a full go

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 12:44:31 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (wrist) fully practiced Friday, Sept. 26, and is probable for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson will try to play through a fractured wrist in Week 4, which makes spending $6,100 (12.2% of cap) on him a pretty big risk. It may be safer to look elsewhere for healthier options with that money.

Buccaneers | Vincent Jackson drawing heavy coverage

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 15:12:17 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson has been drawing heavy coverage early in the season, and he has just 10 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown in the first three weeks. The Buccaneers haven't been good at getting the ball to their best receivers on a consistent basis, either. "We've had the opportunities to get Vincent the ball and we're going to continue to do that. The coverage will dictate where he is and how he gets open. Again, if they're going to double-cover him in heavy personnel or they're going to play off coverage and certain things, then we have to play in front of them much like we did two weeks ago and play off that a little bit and spread the ball around," quarterbacks coach Marcus Arroyo said.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson has the size and athletic ability to beat double coverages, but not on a consistent basis. He's also battling through a fractured wrist now, which doesn't help. The Pittsburgh Steelers were ravaged by injuries last week, though, which could give Jackson a decent matchup. Play at your own risk, however.

Buccaneers | Vincent Jackson a full go again

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 15:02:18 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (wrist) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson is dealing with a minor fracture of his wrist, and he'll attempt to play through it in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The presence of Mike Glennon as the starting quarterback this week should help V-Jax, but playing him at $6,100 (12.2% of cap) remains a pretty big risk.

Buccaneers | Vincent Jackson fully practices

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 14:49:00 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (wrist) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Fantasy Tip: You have to wonder if the wrist injury will affect Jackson in Week 4. With a FantasyScore price of $6,100 (12.20% of cap), it may be best to look elsewhere this week.

Buccaneers | Vincent Jackson not limited

Tue, 23 Sep 2014 14:07:10 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (wrist) wasn't limited in practice Monday, Sept. 22, after sustaining a slight wrist fracture in Week 3. He had his wrist wrapped Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson will attempt to play through his injured wrist in Week 5 and beyond. You have to wonder how that might affect his play, though. With Mike Glennon starting now, it may be good news for V-Jax. He's somewhat of a risky play at FantasyScore this weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers, though.

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 11:10:54 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (wrist) fractured his wrist against the Atlanta Falcons last Thursday night. The fracture is small and Jackson is expected to play this week.

Buccaneers | No timetable yet on Josh McCown

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 00:15:20 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith said it is too soon to tell how long QB Josh McCown (thumb) may be out following his thumb injury suffered Thursday, Sept. 18, in a 56-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Smith also didn't address whether or not QB Mike Glennon might get a chance to start at quarterback even if McCown is healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Neither quarterback warrants much fantasy consideration, but the loss of the veteran McCown could hurt Vincent Jackson and Bobby Rainey's fantasy potential.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans named starter

Mon, 18 Aug 2014 07:21:30 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans was named a starter, alongside WRs Vincent Jackson and Chris Owusu, by head coach Lovie Smith. Owusu will start in the slot.

Fantasy Tip: Evans is a WR4 with upside that could lump into the WR3 mix over some aging veterans with little upside. Owusu is worth consideration for a final roster spot, but he still has much to prove.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans selected seventh overall

Thu, 08 May 2014 17:57:45 -0700

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Texas A&M WR Mike Evans with the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: Evans is a clone of Vincent Jackson (who's still a fantasy WR2) and will eventually take over for the aging V-Jax. The rookie will be a WR4 in fantasy leagues with big yardage potential. Josh McCown now has another pair of big wideouts following his time in Chicago with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. The veteran slinger, under Jeff Tedford, is a fantasy backup that could dominate in the right match-up.

Buccaneers | Mike Williams traded

Fri, 04 Apr 2014 08:57:30 -0700

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers traded WR Mike Williams to the Buffalo Bills Friday, April 4, in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in this year's draft.

Fantasy Tip: The trade leaves a gaping whole at the wide receiver position opposite Vincent Jackson. You can bet the Bucs will look to the draft to rectify that, possibly with their first-round pick (seventh overall). Even if they land a stud wide receiver in the draft to take over for Williams, a learning curve will be there, and opposing defenses will likely pay plenty of attention to Jackson. This trade could hurt his value in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: More will be known on Jackson's status Thursday and Friday. If he is able to suit up, he faces a difficult matchup, as the San Francisco 49ers rank fourth in the NFL against the pass. If active, Jackson should be treated as more of a WR3/4 or flex fantasy play this week.
