San Francisco 49ers senior offensive consultant Eric Mangini was in the discussion to become the team's next quarterbacks coach if offensive coordinator Greg Roman left for a head coaching job. Quarterbacks coach Geep Chryst would have moved from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator in that scenario. Mangini will likely move to an unspecified position coach role in 2014.

San Francisco 49ers senior offensive consultant Eric Mangini could be the front-runner to take over as the general manager if the Miami Dolphins fire general manager Jeff Ireland. Mangini has an excellent relationship with owner Stephen Ross. Other candidates for GM in Miami include assistant GM Brian Gaine, executive vice president of football administration Dawn Aponte, former Kansas City Chiefs GM Scott Pioli and former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum.

Former NFL head coach Eric Mangini said he regrets turning in the New England Patriots back in 2007 over their videotaping scandal. "If there is a decision I could take back, it's easily that decision," Mangini said. "Never in a million years would I have wanted it to go this way. It's disappointing whenever it comes up. It's regret, it's disappointment, it's all of those things. Because I know what it took to win those Super Bowls, and I have so much respect for the people that were involved there. I'm disappointed that this is what it's translated into."
