Jets | More on QB struggles |
Wed, 12 Jun 2013 15:23:23 -0700
New York Jets QB coach David Lee said QB Geno Smith's adjustment from his West Virginia to this West Coast offense has been a struggle. "[He's] just struggling with basic things, snap count at the line of scrimmage, delivery in the huddle can be more consistent. Little things are really what's killing him, but he's competed well and he's shown us he's got a really good arm." Lee said, however, that he expects Smith to be ready to go by September. Lee said Mark Sanchez is struggling to protect the ball and must cut down on turnovers. The Jets have been doing a gauntlet drill -- they call it the "Sanchez Drill" -- where they try to knock the ball loose from his hands.
Fantasy Tip: More follies from this volatile fantasy position that shouldn't be recognized as anything more than a low-end backup. Sanchez looks like he may be in the early lead, but much can change come August.

"I'm going to tell you this right now: Brady Quinn has a stronger arm than both the Manning brothers," Lee told the Denver Post in 2011. "No question. I worked them all out." Lee reportedly spoke highly of Quinn during his interview with the Jets.

Thu, 24 Jan 2013 12:00:44 -0800
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan thinks QB Mark Sanchez will thrive next season under new offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinwig and quarterbacks coach David Lee. "He's got to be popping out of his skin… as any quarterback (would)," said Ryan, who bumped into Sanchez at the team facility on Thursday. "You have a combination of Marty Mornhinweg and David Lee as coaches. That's a heck of a start. So I believe Mark needs to erase his hard drive. It's new. He's got be excited about it."

Updating a previous report, Mac Engel, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports former Dallas Cowboys assistant coach David Lee has accepted a three-year contract to join the University of Arkansas as their offensive coordinator, but he admitted he was led to his decision by the indecision of head coach Bill Parcells. Lee had a discussion with Parcells and wanted to know whether the head coach would return for a fifth season. When Parcells couldn't provide a definitive answer, Lee told Parcells, "Coach, I need to go." Lee later added, ""I just think Coach is struggling with what to do. That's the truth." Parcells has yet to decide whether he will coach the Cowboys in 2007.

Cowboys | Henson Working Long Hours with Lee |
Tue, 21 Jun 2005 20:31:37 -0700
Rob Phillips, of DallasCowboys.com, reports Dallas Cowboys QB Drew Henson has spent a lot of time working with quarterbacks coach David Lee during the offseason. Lee worked with Henson on raising his release by about a foot and eliminating the sidearm motion that can weaken a quarterback's power and accuracy. Henson's "dropwheel" release often resulted in batted down passes, but his new technique will allow him to get rid of the ball higher and quicker. "A sidearm guy gets so good (and) you can't get any better," Lee said. "Plus, the guys coming at you are taller, so you want it to come out at a higher point." Head coach Bill Parcells estimates Henson has thrown over 5,000 passes this offseason.
