Rangers | Carlos Corporan set to return

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 18:22:08 -0700

The Texas Rangers will activate C Carlos Corporan (thumb) from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 1. He hasn't played since July 13 due to a bruised left thumb. He will likely be used as a third catcher behind Cs Chris Gimenez and Bobby Wilson.

Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is only worth a look in FantasyScore when he is in the starting lineup, as he does have a little power potential for such a low price tag.

Rangers | Bobby Wilson catching Sunday

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 11:11:21 -0700

Texas Rangers C Bobby Wilson will bat eighth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Drew Smyly Sunday, Aug. 16. C Chris Gimenez is receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is 6-for-18 with three doubles and five RBIs this month and should be considered by FantasyScore owners who normally punt the catcher position.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson can be completely avoided against both left- and right-handed pitching on FantasyScore.

Rays | Bobby Wilson in lineup Sunday

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 11:27:23 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Bobby Wilson is starting and batting ninth against the Seattle Mariners Sunday, June 7. C Rene Rivera, who had started five of the team's previous six games behind the plate, will start at first base and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Both Wilson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and Rivera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) have done poorly at the plate this season and should be ignored in FantasyScore contests. Wilson is batting .154 with four RBIs through 22 games, while Rivera is just hitting .149 with 10 RBIs through 49 games.

Sun, 31 May 2015 07:17:21 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Rene Rivera is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 31. C Bobby Wilson will be the starting catcher for the Rays.

Fantasy Tip: Rivera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return soon. Wilson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting only .152 in his limited playing time this season and should not be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Rays | Bobby Wilson starting behind the plate

Sun, 24 May 2015 08:47:15 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Bobby Wilson will start at catcher and bat ninth in the order Sunday, May 24, against the Oakland Athletics.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) went 2-for-5 in his second-last start, with three runs scored and one RBI. Near the minimum price, Wilson is an option for FantasyScore owners electing to punt the catcher position.

Rays | Rene Rivera out of the lineup

Sun, 17 May 2015 09:11:43 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Rene Rivera is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 17. C Bobby Wilson will be the starting catcher for the Rays.

Fantasy Tip: Rivera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has been struggling at the plate this season and is receiving a day off. Wilson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting .152 in his limited playing time this season and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Rays | Bobby Wilson starting at catcher

Sat, 02 May 2015 13:14:09 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Bobby Wilson is starting behind the plate Saturday, May 2, against the Baltimore Orioles. Wilson will bat ninth in the order against Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has just three hits in 24 plate appearances to open the season, with only one RBI as far as the counting stats go. Wilson's strongest asset to offer FantasyScore owners is the fact that he's starting and going for the minimum price, but he has next to no offensive upside.

Rays | Rene Rivera starting at 1B

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 14:52:39 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays C Rene Rivera is starting at first base and hitting seventh in the lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Daniel Norris Tuesday, April 14. C Bobby Wilson is taking the catching duties and hitting ninth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Rivera ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) isn't an attractive FantasyScore offensive weapon, but it's notable that he's seeing time at first base with James Loney on the DL. If that continues, it'll raise his short-term value in two-catcher and AL-only leagues with more playing time.
