Blue Jays | Dioner Navarro catching

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 13:36:40 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Dioner Navarro is starting behind the plate and hitting sixth against Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes Tuesday, Aug. 4. C Russell Martin is serving as the designated hitter and hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Navarro ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) does have two of his three home runs against right-handers this year despite a .221 average, but Hughes is allowing 1.7 home runs per nine innings. Martin ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) could also be a valuable play on FantasyScore tonight.

Blue Jays | Russell Martin on the bench

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 09:04:04 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura Saturday, Aug. 1. C Dioner Navarro will start at catcher and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Navarro ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) hit only .192 in limited playing time in July and probably is not the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Blue Jays | Dioner Navarro draws into lineup

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 14:08:58 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Dioner Navarro is catching and batting eighth against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Thursday, July 30. C Russell Martin is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Navarro ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) isn't very strong against left-handed pitchers this season, going 4-for-19 (.211) with none of his two home runs, so he's not the strongest of catching options to choose from tonight on FantasyScore.

Blue Jays | Russell Martin appears at 2B

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 20:10:05 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin made an appearance at second base in the ninth inning Tuesday, July 28, against the Philadelphia Phillies after 2B Devon Travis (shoulder) was forced out earlier.

Fantasy Tip: It's unlikely Martin ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will qualify at second base for those in seasonal fantasy leagues or in FantasyScore, but those in leagues with lax eligibility requirements could find him eligible at 2B/MI to give him extra value.

Blue Jays | Russell Martin catching Saturday

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 11:32:02 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin is back in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners SP J.A. Happ Saturday, July 25, batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is batting .467 (7-for-15) over the past week with two home runs and six RBIs and makes a safe FantasyScore catching option.

Blue Jays | Russell Martin on the bench

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 15:44:31 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin is not in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez Friday, July 24. C Dioner Navarro will start at catcher and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the next game or two. Navarro ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is hitting only .227 in limited playing time this season and probably is not a top starting option on FantasyScore.

Blue Jays | Russell Martin has big day

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 18:39:03 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin homered, doubled and drove in three runs Thursday, July 23, against the Oakland Athletics.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is 7-for-12 in his last three games, with two home runs in that span. While catcher is generally viewed as a position to save cap space on FantasyScore, Martin is worth paying the higher price.

Blue Jays | Russell Martin sitting Sunday

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 07:35:13 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin isn't in the starting lineup Sunday, July 19, against the Tampa Bay Rays. C Dioner Navarro will start behind the plate and hit fifth in the order against RHP Chris Archer.

Fantasy Tip: Navarro ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is mustering a mere .230 average against right-handed pitching this season, and he should be avoided with a very difficult test against Archer.

Blue Jays | Chris Colabello out again

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 14:37:42 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Chris Colabello is not in the lineup for the second straight game Friday, July 10. C Russell Martin is serving as the designated hitter and batting sixth, while C Dioner Navarro is catching and hitting seventh against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) is typically a pretty safe FantasyScore catching option, and should be no different tonight. He has a .273 average (15-for-55) against southpaws this year. Navarro ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has struggled against lefties from the right side this year (.188-0-0 in 16 at-bats), and he's a low-end commodity this evening.

Blue Jays | Dioner Navarro starting behind the dish

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 15:36:24 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Dioner Navarro is starting behind the plate and batting seventh against Chicago White Sox SP John Danks Wednesday, July 8. C Russell Martin is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Navarro ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is just 2-for-13 against lefties this season, but it is a plus-matchup against Danks. FantasyScore players should view Navarro as an upside source of cap relief Wednesday.
