Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price said OF Skip Schumaker (shoulder) has started to swing a bat but is not ready to play in any games at this point. Schumaker is working on strengthening his shoulder and getting all of the soreness out.

The Cincinnati Reds have placed OF Skip Schumaker (shoulder), RP Sean Marshall (shoulder) and RP Jonathan Broxton (forearm) on the 15-day disabled list. Marshall's move is retroactive to March 21, while the other two players' moves are retroactive to March 22.

Cincinnati Reds OF Skip Schumaker (shoulder) suffered a dislocated shoulder during the team's game Friday, March 21, but the shoulder was popped back into place after the injury occurred. Schumaker said he hopes to only miss around a month.

Cincinnati Reds 2B Skip Schumaker will $2 million in base salary next season and $2.5 million in 2015. The contract includes a $2.5 million 2016 team option with a $500,000 buyout. Schumaker hit .263 with two home runs and 30 RBIs in 125 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season. "I'm not going to assume anything other than that I'll be off the bench, the role I've been in the last couple of years in the major leagues," Schumaker said during a conference call. "I don't think it will be that much different -- being used off the bench more than anything."

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said OF Andre Ethier (ankle) appears unlikely to receive any starts in the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves, although his ankle has improved to the point where he would be allowed to run "station to station" in certain game situations. Mattingly said OF Yasiel Puig would not be moved out of right field and if someone other than Skip Schumaker needs to play center field, it would be Scott Van Slyke rather than Ethier.
