Updating a previous story, Cincinnati Reds 2B Skip Schumaker (concussion) was activated form the seven-day concussion list Sunday, July 20. He started and finished the game 2-for-3 with a walk and RBI.
Fantasy Tip: With all the injuries the Reds are dealing with right now, Schumaker is going to get plenty of playing time. However, he provides limited fantasy production and is really only worth considering in NL-only leagues.

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds 2B Skip Schumaker (head) is hopeful of returning from a concussion during this weekend's interleague series against the New York Yankees.
Fantasy Tip: As of Friday Schumaker had not yet been cleared. When he does return, he could see plenty of time at second base with Brandon Phillips (thumb) on the mend and out for a while.

The Cincinnati Reds placed 2B Skip Schumaker (concussion) on the 7-day concussion disabled list Friday, July 11, and recalled 1B Donald Lutz from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Lutz returns to Cincinnati hoping to provide some much-needed depth to the ailing Reds. You can ignore him in the majority of leagues.

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips (thumb) is expected to miss six weeks, the team announced Thursday, July 10. He will have surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb Friday, July 11.
Fantasy Tip: Phillips is worth stashing in a disabled list slot in all formats. Outside of NL-only leagues, he isn't worth using a bench space on, if your disabled list slots are filled with superior players. Skip Schumaker gains NL-only value while Phillips is out.

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips (thumb) has a ligament tear in his left thumb, and he will have surgery Friday, July 11.
Fantasy Tip: To put the recovery timetable in perspective, Bryce Harper missed 57 games and almost two months with a torn ligament. Phillips' season could be over. Skip Schumaker and Ramon Santiago will see additional playing time. Schumaker is an option in NL-only leagues.

Cincinnati Reds 1B Joey Votto (quadriceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps. C/1B Brayan Pena was activated from the paternity list.
Fantasy Tip: Todd Frazier is playing first base Tuesday, July 8, with Ramon Santiago at the hot corner. Jay Bruce started at first base Monday, July 7, with Ryan Ludwick and Skip Schumaker in the corner outfield spots. Expect a rotation with Chris Heisey also involved in the short term if they decide to go that route, but the Santiago elevation to the lineup is more likely. All of these subs are desperation NL-only assets.
