Patriots | Tom Brady working on accuracy

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 18:43:19 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said Friday, Oct. 20, that he doesn't feel his accuracy is where it needs to be, especially in the red zone where the Patriots have scored 14 touchdowns in 25 trips.

Fantasy Tip: For someone who is disappointed in his accuracy, Brady continues to put up QB1 numbers on a weekly basis, and he is a must-start option against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7.

Patriots | Tom Brady upgraded to limited

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 13:48:08 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Brady has already said he'll play on Sunday; it's just a matter of how healthy he'll be. Given the fact that the injury is to his non-throwing shoulder, don't overthink things. Start Brady per usual.

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 16:56:10 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (shoulder) said he will be able to play in Week 6 even though he is dealing with a shoulder injury.

Fantasy Tip: Brady probably will be limited during practice this week but does not appear to be in danger of missing Week 6. He has thrown for at least 300 yards in each of the last four games and should be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in all leagues.

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday, Oct. 11, due to the injury to his non-throwing shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Brady is battling an AC sprain in his left non-throwing shoulder. It doesn't sound like an injury that will keep him from participating in Week 6 on the road against the Jets, a team ranking 12th in the NFL in pass defense.

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 09:43:07 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (shoulder) returned to practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Brady assured reporters Tuesday he would play through the AC sprain in his non-throwing shoulder and this news should ease whatever concerns owners may have had about that. He has a very favorable matchup in Week 6 versus the New York Jets and should return high-end QB1 production.

Patriots | Tom Brady has shoulder ailment

Tue, 10 Oct 2017 12:40:37 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (shoulder) suffered a non-throwing shoulder injury in Week 4 and re-aggravated the injury last week.

Fantasy Tip: The good news is that the injury is to his left shoulder. We'll need to see how much Brady practices this week, but it's hard to believe he'd miss a game because of his non-throwing shoulder, especially when he's played before when banged up. Keep him in your starting lineup(s).

Patriots | Tom Brady sits out practice Tuesday

Tue, 10 Oct 2017 10:18:57 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (rest) was not present at the start of practice Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Brady assured reporters he'll be ready to go in Week 6, suggesting his absence from practice was more about taking advantage of the extra few days he has at his disposal to fully recover from some of the hits he took Thursday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While Brady has been getting hit much more often this year than he did in 2016, he is still mostly clicking on all cylinders. He should be an elite QB1 play again in Week 6 versus the New York Jets.

Patriots | Tom Brady under siege

Sat, 07 Oct 2017 08:14:52 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has been sacked 16 times through five games, putting him on pace for 51 this season. By comparison, he was sacked 15 times in 12 contests last year. Additionally, the offensive line has allowed Brady to be hit 33 times - 6.6 per game - after giving up 73 hits over the entirety of the 2016 season, most of which came while Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett were filling in during Brady's four-game suspension.

Fantasy Tip: To be fair, Brady's not exactly getting drilled on the hits he is taking, but this punishment isn't exactly what any team wants their 40-year-old quarterback to absorb, even if he does take really good care of himself. The numbers are especially high when you consider how often he gets rid of the ball quickly and behind virtually the same offensive line that kept him so clean last year. More so than in previous years, it may be wise for owners to protect themselves and invest in a decent backup for Brady.

Patriots | Tom Brady uneven in Week 5

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 21:27:42 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 30 of 40 passes for 303 yards and a touchdown during the team's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. Brady also turned the ball over twice, once on an interception and once after a strip sack.

Fantasy Tip: Minus Rob Gronkowski, Brady focused heavily on the combination of Brandin Cooks, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan and James White -- collectively, that foursome accounted for 36 of Brady's 40 targeted throws. It was an underneath attack with only Cooks averaging more than 10 yards per catch, and the final line reflected that dink-and-dunk approach. Gronk should have time to get healthy for Week 6, and Brady gets to rest up a bit before facing the Jets where he's a safe QB1.

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 15:09:21 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was 32-for-45 for 307 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, Oct. 1, in a 33-30 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the loss, it was still another decent outing for Brady, who is a QB1 start against every club.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer working deep

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 23:15:49 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer has 25 completions of more than 15 yards this season, including a league-high 10 in Week 3. For the season, only New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (30) has more.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer has looked pretty good when given time, but the ongoing struggles of Arizona's offensive line is a major concern for the immobile veteran. He's not a QB1, but he's a viable start in the right matchups.

Patriots | Tom Brady throws for five TDs

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 14:48:15 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady went 25-for-35 for 378 yards and five touchdowns against the Houston Texans in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Brady has thrown for eight touchdowns over the last two games and has at least 378 yards in each of those games. He is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and should be starting in all fantasy leagues.

Patriots | Tom Brady posts 447 yards, three TDs

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:53:40 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 30 of his 39 pass attempts for 447 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 1 in New Orleans.

Fantasy Tip: Brady was at 300 yards passing at halftime for just the second time in his career. He also joined Warren Moon as the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 400 yards and three touchdowns after his 40th birthday. Reports of TB12's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Patriots | Tom Brady struggles in opener

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 22:10:20 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady went 16-for-36 with 267 yards passing, 0 TDs and 0 INTs against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: It was a rough showing for Brady, who completed less than 50 percent of his throws in a regular season game for the first time since Week 7 of 2013. He also failed to account for a touchdown. Perhaps it was just the growing pains of life without Julian Edelman, but it was odd to see a team successfully play coverage against a Brady-led offense as Kansas City routinely rushed just three. While the superstitious may be fearing the infamous Madden cover jinx, odds are it's a bump in the road for the future Hall of Famer.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady, TE Rob Gronkowski and WR Brandin Cooks are not expected to play in the Patriots' first preseason game Thursday, Aug. 10, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't come as a shock to any. Playing stars simply isn't worth the risk early on in the preseason. This will have no impact on their respective fantasy values. As you were.

Patriots | Tom Brady, Brandin Cooks building chemistry

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 14:51:11 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said he has been working with WR Brandin Cooks during training camp so they can work on building a better chemistry.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots added Cooks this offseason, and he should be a big part of the passing game this season. He has posted at least 1,100 yards in each of the last two seasons and has 17 touchdowns during that span. Cooks should be considered a solid No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues. Brady will have plenty of weapons to work with and will be No. 1 quarterback in all leagues.

Patriots | Tom Brady's arm strength still there

Fri, 16 Jun 2017 07:16:37 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has showcased the same arm strength he has for most of his career in offseason workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Brady is turning 40, but there is little reason to believe a downswing is coming. He is more loaded at the skill positions than he has ever been, and he's an elite QB1 option.

Patriots | Agent denies Tom Brady's concussion rumors

Fri, 19 May 2017 10:38:24 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was not diagnosed with a concussion last season, according to his agent.

Fantasy Tip: Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen, suggested that her husband dealt with a concussion last year and possibly in years past. He enters 2017 as a high-end QB1, but he definitely carries more risk than some other top signal-callers entering his age-40 season, regardless of whether or not he has a concussion history.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (concussion) suffered a concussion last season, according to his wife, Gisele Bundchen, appearing on "CBS This Morning" Wednesday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: It never showed up on the injury report, but it serves as a reminder that Father Time is undefeated. Brady turns 40 in August, but he remains a high-end QB1 in fantasy that will carry some risk.

Patriots | Tom Brady receives bonus

Fri, 31 Mar 2017 06:12:21 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady receives a $14 million deferred signing bonus payment Friday, March 31.

Fantasy Tip: He'll be 40 in August as he tries to break the mold of quarterbacks falling off a cliff statistically after 40. He has shown no signs of it. He averaged 296 yards passing in 12 games last year and threw for 28 scores and two picks. He remains a high-end QB1 in fantasy.

Patriots | Tom Brady plans to play a while

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 13:12:30 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady told owner Robert Kraft that he hopes to play for six or seven more years.

Fantasy Tip: Brady has only suffered one serious injury during his 17 years in the NFL. His production has yet to take a big hit, too. He'll be 40 next season, but he's coming off a year in which he threw 28 touchdowns and just two interceptions in 12 games. He's a perennial QB1 candidate.

Fantasy Tip: Brady was fifth in fantasy points per game among quarterbacks last season and had a ridiculous 28-to-2 touchdown-to-pick ratio. He remains an elite option at quarterback in fantasy.

Mon, 06 Feb 2017 12:27:24 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said he will not retire despite being 40 years old next season and winning his record fifth Super Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: Brady doesn't seem to be wearing down too much even at his over the hill age. Until he does show signs of wearing down, he remains a QB1 option for next season, especially since he will ideally be playing a full season.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady threw his 31st career postseason interception in Super Bowl LI Sunday, Feb. 5, breaking a tie with retired QB Brett Favre for the most ever in the postseason.

Fantasy Tip: Obviously, the dubious record is a product of the sheer number of postseason games he has played rather than poor performance. Father Time figures to catch up with Brady at some point, but he looks like a safe bet to deliver QB1 numbers again 2017.

Patriots | Tom Brady expected to play 3-5 more years

Sun, 05 Feb 2017 10:51:21 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady could play three to five more years as the team plans for the long-term, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It is that window that is allowing the Patriots to consider trading Jimmy Garoppolo.

Fantasy Tip: Brady will turn 40 in August, so there is virtually no chance he will play - much less play well - into the 2020s. Given the way he takes care of himself, it is possible Brady can squeeze two more good years out of his body, although owners need to start preparing for a decline in performance as early as next year, especially considering history has typically not been kind to 40-year-old quarterbacks. Especially if New England trades Garoppolo, the Pats should begin to look for his eventual successor again this offseason.

Patriots | Tom Brady looking to pad Super Bowl records

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 20:19:28 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is the all-time leader in Super Bowl completions (164), passing yards (1,605) and passing touchdowns (13). In addition, he is tied with former NFL QB Joe Montana for the most Super Bowl MVP awards with three, and if he nabs another one in Super Bowl 51, he would be the oldest player to do so at 39 years and 186 days.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't really be surprising to any football fan, as Brady continues to establish himself as perhaps the greatest quarterback in the history of the sport. In what is likely going to be a high-scoring Super Bowl encounter, the future Hall-of-Famer looks like a good bet to post something in line with his decorated track record in the Big Game.

Patriots | Tom Brady unbeaten vs. Falcons in career

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 21:12:26 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is 4-0 all-time against the Atlanta Falcons for his career. His last meeting opposite the Falcons came back in Week 4 of the 2013 season.

Fantasy Tip: It's a small sample size but it's also indicative of the type of winner and dominant player Brady truly is. Of course, this year's Falcons team is almost entirely different from any other Atlanta squad that he's faced throughout his career, but it really doesn't matter what defense you put in front of the future Hall-of-Famer.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 32-for-42 passing for 384 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions Sunday, Jan. 22, against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game. That was Brady's highest career postseason yardage figure.

Fantasy Tip: TB12 was simply brilliant. Unless he inexplicably retires after the season, Brady should be a midrange QB1 in all formats.

Patriots | Tom Brady has had Pittsburgh's number

Sat, 21 Jan 2017 15:39:19 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has averaged 314.8 passing yards and thrown for 19 touchdowns versus no interceptions in six games against the Pittsburgh Steelers since Mike Tomlin became their head coach in 2007. Brady's 127.5 passer rating versus Tomlin's teams is the highest against any coach (minimum three games).

Fantasy Tip: It's a bit of a misleading stat considering the Steelers' current defense is run by Keith Butler and was coordinated previously by Dick LeBeau, who now calls the shots for the Tennessee Titans. Nevertheless, Brady has tortured Pittsburgh regardless. The Steelers' blitz-heavy ways could be their undoing in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday if they don't find a way to shut down the middle of the field against the Patriots.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 18 of his 38 passes for 287 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 34-16 win over the Houston Texans Saturday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Brady threw just two interceptions in the regular season, but facing the tough Houston defense, he doubled his total. Even in a poor performance by his standards, he finished with a decent line, showcasing his high floor.

Patriots | Tom Brady expected to play

Sat, 31 Dec 2016 10:11:24 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (thigh) is expected to play against the Miami Dolphins in Week 17 even though he is listed as questionable for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Brady has been held to under 220 yards in each of the last two games but has six touchdowns and one interception in the last three games. He has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season and should be aa starting candidate in all fantasy leagues.
