Patriots | Tom Brady to play at least two years

Wed, 02 May 2018 06:17:44 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said he "negotiated" with his wife to play two more seasons, and he's working on more.

Fantasy Tip: Brady has shown few signs of slowing down, but there has been a lot of turnover around him of late. Julian Edelman returns from his torn ACL, but what can we expect out of the soon-to-be 32-year-old? Nonetheless, Brady has a history of thriving without a stocked cupboard, and he remains an elite QB1 option in fantasy.

Patriots | Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski likely back in 2018

Sun, 22 Apr 2018 13:16:48 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski are expected to return to the team in 2018 despite their absences from voluntary workouts this month, per a source with "knowledge of the situation" according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

Fantasy Tip: It's possible both men are making their displeasure of the team's decision to remove their trainer from the premises at Gillette Stadium, although neither Brady nor Gronkowski have confirmed that. The Patriots would be wise to target their successors in this week's draft, but the 40-year-old Brady has repeatedly said he hopes to play until he's 45. Gronkowski is more likely to retire sooner given how many injuries he has suffered in his career, but it still seems highly unlikely we've seen the last of him on the gridiron.

Patriots | Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski tie record

Mon, 05 Feb 2018 21:36:57 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski have now connected for 12 touchdown passes in playoff games after Brady hooked up with Gronkowski twice in Super Bowl 52 against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 4. That ties them up with retired QB Joe Montana and WR Jerry Rice for the most touchdowns by a quarterback-receiver duo in NFL postseason history.

Fantasy Tip: No surprise here given New England's prolific history in the playoffs. Brady has already said he'll be back in 2018 and should retain his spot at the top of the quarterback food chain. Gronkowski is in the same boat as it regards NFL tight ends going into next season.

Patriots | Tom Brady on wrong side of record books

Mon, 05 Feb 2018 12:18:09 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 500 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in a loss regular season or postseason.

Fantasy Tip: Brady did his part in the Patriots' 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII. He diced up Philly's defense even without Brandin Cooks and, obviously, Julian Edelman. Brady has already said he wants to keep playing and deserves to be in the conversation for No. 1 fantasy quarterback in 2018.

Patriots | Tom Brady has fared well indoors

Thu, 01 Feb 2018 10:27:56 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and company will be playing in a dome for Super Bowl LII, which is the Minnesota Vikings' U.S. Bank Stadium. Brady has posted an 11-2 record while averaging 265.9 yards and 2.2 touchdowns in 13 career dome games.

Fantasy Tip: The Super Bowl is a different animal altogether, but indoor stadiums don't bother Brady. He faces a big challenge in one of the best defenses, and pass rushes, in the NFL in the Philadelphia Eagles, but Brady has seen it all at this point in his career. He's no stranger to the spectacle. There will be questions and rumors about retirement if the 40-year-old Brady wins another Super Bowl, but he has already said he wants to play more. Assuming good health, view him as a top-tier No. 1 fantasy quarterback in 2018.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) was spotted wearing gloves on both hands during practice Friday, Jan. 26. He caught a pass and didn't appear to show any discomfort.

Fantasy Tip: Business as usual for TB12. Looking ahead, gamers have to be wary of his 2018 age-41 season, but he looked so good in 2017, giving Brady the benefit of the doubt as a QB1 is prudent.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 25.

Patriots | Tom Brady not on injury report

Wed, 24 Jan 2018 17:31:39 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) was removed from the injury report for the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 4, versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: This was pretty much a formality, as Brady looked fine in the AFC Championship last weekend while dealing with his injury and is on the verge of having the stitches removed from his hand. Thus, expect the future Hall-of-Famer to be on his game when the Super Bowl kicks off in a week and a half.

Patriots | Tom Brady getting stitches removed

Mon, 22 Jan 2018 23:02:14 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) mentioned he was getting the 12 stitches on his hand removed in the coming days. "And at that point, again, because I was fortunate not to tear any ligaments or anything like that - there was no broken bones - that was obviously the best news I could ever hear based on what you thought it could be," he said. "It ended up being a lot of good luck after, I'd say, a pretty unlucky injury. It turned out to be a lot good luck it wasn't more serious than it was."

Fantasy Tip: While it certainly wasn't easy, Brady was able to once again lead yet another fourth-quarter comeback in Sunday's AFC title game victory over the Jaguars in totaling 290 yards on almost 70-percent passing and tossing a pair of touchdowns compared to zero turnovers. The 40-year-old figures to be even more dangerous with the stitches removed, making it a tougher proposition for the Eagles to contain him in Super Bowl 52.

Fantasy Tip: Brady will be playing in his eighth Super Bowl in 16 NFL seasons, as the legend continues to grow. Love him or hate him, he is a winner who has found a way to get it done, usually without a huge supporting cast in the skill positions around him.

Sat, 20 Jan 2018 17:38:00 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) will start the AFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 21, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: To some this comes as no surprise, but the Patriots were worried for a bit. Brady should have another effective game but could be a bit hamstrung by the Jaguars' defense.

Patriots | Tom Brady sharp Friday

Sat, 20 Jan 2018 09:01:27 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) threw the ball "incredibly well" during practice Friday, Jan. 19, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Tip: Reports have been pretty much all over the place on the level of Brady's practice participation this week, so it's hard to put a lot of faith behind anything we hear between now and the start of the game. Despite Brady and head coach Bill Belichick's "we'll see" statements about whether the quarterback will play or not this weekend, owners should expect him to play and play well. He's the top remaining quarterback left on the board in the postseason without question.

Patriots | Tom Brady dealing with injured right thumb

Sat, 20 Jan 2018 06:59:39 -0800

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (thumb) suffered a cut to his right thumb during practice Wednesday, Jan. 17, which was gushing blood and required multiple stitches, according to a source close to the situation. Brady was held out of practice Thursday, Jan. 18, but was "zinging it pretty good" when he returned to action as a limited practice participant Friday, Jan. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Brady was listed as questionable on the injury report but it would be a total surprise if he wasn't under center for the AFC Championship Game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday, Jan. 21. He should be viewed as a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in all fantasy formats despite the thumb issue.

Patriots | Tom Brady undefeated in career vs. Jags

Thu, 18 Jan 2018 18:33:16 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is a perfect 7-0 in his career against the Jacksonville Jaguars, including in playoff games. It's his most wins without a loss against a single opponent. Additionally, in those seven games, Brady has completed 171-of-237 passes (72.2 percent) for 1,832 yards, to go along with 17 touchdowns compared to only two interceptions.

Fantasy Tip: Brady owns stellar numbers for his career opposite Jacksonville but this Jaguars defense may be unlike any he's ever faced. On top of that, it appears he'll be suiting up on Sunday afternoon at less than 100 percent, which could make him a risky chalky play in DFS formats this weekend. Despite this, he's still the top option to roll with at his position out of all four starting QBs.

The swelling in Brady's hand doesn't appear to have worsened as he was practicing instead of receiving treatment. The extent of Brady's practice participation was not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: It's likely that Brady was a limited participant, but it's encouraging nonetheless that he was on the field after hurting the hand yesterday. Unless he suffers a severe setback or aggravation he will be playing in the AFC Championship and is easily this weekend's top daily fantasy quarterback option.

Patriots | Tom Brady 'should be OK' for Sunday

Wed, 17 Jan 2018 19:22:29 -0800

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's (hand) "hand should be OK," a source told Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. It could affect him "slightly" but the belief is that he should be good overall for the Conference Championship game Sunday, Jan. 21, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Normally, when it comes to postseason affairs, Brady has been as reliable as can be throughout the history of the game, but going up against arguably the best defense in football at less than 100 percent could prove to be the ultimate challenge. Despite this, it's hard not to view him as the top QB1 option for DFS formats this weekend.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) underwent X-rays on his injured hand Wednesday, Jan. 17, but they did not show any structural damage, according to a source.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (Achilles') missed his media session Wednesday, Jan. 17, because he was receiving treatment from the team's medical staff.

Patriots | Tom Brady cements another playoff record

Mon, 15 Jan 2018 23:08:08 -0800

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's three-touchdown performance in the team's Divisional Round victory Saturday, Jan. 13, against the Tennessee Titans was his 10th such performance in the postseason, breaking a tie with retired QB Joe Montana for most career playoff games with three or more passing touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, it'd be a surprise to find any sort of passing-related record in the playoffs that Brady doesn't hold. He's probably going to go down as the greatest quarterback to have ever played the game, and even at age 40, he's still the best going in the world today. Despite a tough matchup on tap versus Jacksonville's terrific defense, Brady figures to put up yet another useful stat line on Championship Sunday.
