Rangers | Robinson Chirinos rehab update

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 13:06:06 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos (shoulder) caught a nine-inning simulated game with a pitching machine Friday, Aug. 28. Manager Jeff Banister said he is unlikely to be activated from the disabled list when rosters are expanded Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) experienced normal fatigue in his legs and hips following the simulated game. Banister said he would prefer not to use him until he's ready to resume his role as the Rangers' primary catcher. AL-only fantasy owners and owners in two-catcher leagues should continue to monitor his progress.

Rangers | Robinson Chirinos nearing return

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 20:36:21 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos (shoulder) has started to play catch in Arlington, and he has also started to take some light swings.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain how much longer Chirinos will be sidelined, but he isn't close to a return just yet so avoid him in FantasyScore.

Rangers | Texas catchers making slow progress

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 16:00:30 -0700

Texas Rangers Cs Robinson Chirinos (shoulder) and Carlos Corporan (thumb) are both making slow progress from their injuries, and general manager Jon Daniels said the two are playing catch. Chirinos has taken swings off a tee but has yet to take batting practice.

Fantasy Tip: There remains no timetable for a return for either Chirinos or Corporan. In the meantime, Chris Gimenez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is seeing most of the starts behind home plate, and he's an option to add in AL-only leagues if you're hurting at catcher in the short term.

Rangers | Robinson Chirinos receives PRP injection

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 15:05:56 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos (shoulder) received a platelet-rich plasma injection for his left shoulder strain Monday, Aug. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has been a serviceable catcher for AL-only, cavernous mixed and two-catcher formats, so his absence is a tough blow in those deep formats. Bobby Wilson holds fleeting value as Chirinos' replacement, but you're really scrapping the bottom of the barrel starting him. FantasyScore players should also look elsewhere.

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 05:35:24 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, Aug. 1. C Bobby Wilson should receive the bulk of playing time.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson can be completely avoided against both left- and right-handed pitching on FantasyScore.

Rangers | Robinson Chirinos on the bench

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 14:34:20 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin Monday, July 20. C Tomas Telis will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Telis will be receiving his first start of the season and probably should not be a fantasy option at this point.

Rangers | Robinson Chirinos sitting out

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 10:54:58 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos is not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross Sunday, July 12. C Carlos Corporan will start at catcher and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) likely will return to the starting lineup after the break. Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting only .181 this season and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Texas Rangers C Carlos Corporan is making the start behind the plate Saturday, July 4, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Corporan will hit eighth in the order against LHP Hector Santiago, while C Robinson Chirinos comes out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has gone 4-for-10 in his last three starts, with one double and one home run. FantasyScore owners can consider Corporan for use in GPP tournaments.

Rangers | Robinson Chirinos sitting vs. O's

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 13:13:03 -0700

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 29. C Carlos Corporan is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Bud Norris Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has respectable counting stats this season (21 runs, seven home runs and 26 RBI), and should be viewed as a low-end option in cavernous mixed, AL-only and two-catcher formats going forward. Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has a .544 OPS this season, and FantasyScore players should likely aim higher Monday.

Rangers | Texas has struggled against Sonny Gray

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 10:01:19 -0700

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus, OF Leonys Martin, 3B Adrian Beltre, 2B Rougned Odor and C Robinson Chirinos are a combined .128 (14-for-109) in their careers against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray, who they face Thursday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: None of the players mentioned for Texas are hitting particularly well at this time, either, so it's best to stay away from them on FantasyScore this afternoon. Beltre ($4,800, 9.6% of cap), who came off the DL early the other day, is still swinging with pain in his thumb.
