Mariners | Robinson Cano wants more firepower

Sun, 02 Mar 2014 08:51:47 -0800

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano feels the team needs another hitter to be competitive in the American League West this year. "I'm not going to lie. We need an extra bat, especially a right-handed bat," Cano said. "We have many left-handed hitters. We need at least one more righty. You don't want to face a lefty pitcher with a lineup of seven left-handed hitters." Cano also is on board with the Mariners signing free-agent SP Ervin Santana (Royals).

Mariners | Robinson Cano agrees

Fri, 06 Dec 2013 08:01:52 -0800

The Seattle Mariners agreed with free-agent 2B Robinson Cano (Yankees) to a 10-year, $240 million deal.

Fantasy Tip: Cano leaves a hitter's paradise for a hitter's nightmare in Safeco Field. His power translates anywhere, though. In fact, he hit more homers on the road last season. He has hit .309 with four homers and 20 RBIs in 152 at-bats in Seattle during his career. You can expect a slight decline in power. He also has very little around him in the form of protection. Owners will have this in the backs of their minds on draft day. It's possible he'll fall in drafts because of such, but it's not a good idea to value him as an early first-round pick anymore.
