Mariners | Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz in for big night?

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 10:03:32 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano is batting .438 (7-for-16) in his career against Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez, who he faces Tuesday, Aug. 25. OF Nelson Cruz is 5-for-11 with two home runs and six RBI in his career against Chavez.

Fantasy Tip: Both Cano ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) and Cruz ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) are solid plays on FantasyScore tonight against Chavez, who has struggled on the road this season.

Mariners | Brad Miller in lineup Sunday

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 11:28:38 -0700

Seattle Mariners INF/OF Brad Miller is batting eighth and starting at second base against Chicago White Sox SP John Danks Sunday, Aug. 23. 2B Robinson Cano will bat cleanup and serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is batting .317 with a home run and three RBIs in 41 at-bats this month, although he has a less-than-ideal matchup this afternoon in FantasyScore. All nine of his homers this season have come against righties and he is hitting just .213 with seven RBIs versus southpaws.

Mariners | Five-hit game for Robinson Cano

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 17:05:21 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano went 5-for-7 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in a 10-8 win over the Boston Red Sox Sunday, Aug. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Cano ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is still having a down year overall, but he hit .337 in July and his hitting .350 in August. He may have disappointed for much of the year, but he is currently well worth his price tag at FantasyScore.

Mariners | Ketel Marte leading off again

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 14:16:27 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Ketel Marte is starting at second base and leading off Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Minnesota Twins and RHP Kyle Gibson. 2B Robinson Cano is serving as the designated hitter, and OF Austin Jackson will hit sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Marte went 0-for-4 with a walk in his debut Friday, but he should be given some more time before being used for FantasyScore purposes.

Mariners | Ketel Marte making debut

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 16:43:10 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Ketel Marte is starting at second base and hitting leadoff against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone Friday, July 31, in his major league debut. 2B Robinson Cano (abdomen) remains out of the lineup. OF Austin Jackson moves from the leadoff spot to sixth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Marte won't be available on FantasyScore tonight after just being called up earlier in the day, but he could have short-term fantasy value with Cano dinged up. Marte's salary will likely be low on FantasyScore to be an attractive value pick. He's only 21, though, and it remains to be seen how much he'll play when Cano returns. Those in dynasty leagues and AL-only formats should jump on him immediately.

Mariners | Robinson Cano has abdominal strain

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 16:13:18 -0700

Updating a previous report, Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano's (abdomen) MRI exam showed a Grade 1 strain of his abdominal muscle, and he is hoping to return and serve as the designated hitter in five or six days.

Fantasy Tip: It's a shame for Cano's ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) owners, as he had finally started to turn things around at the plate, hitting .337 (33-for-98) with seven home runs and 18 RBI in the month of July. You'll have to be patient yet again and stay away from him for the next week or so in all fantasy formats.

Mariners | Robinson Cano going for MRI

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 11:38:38 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano (abdomen) is out of the lineup Wednesday, July 29, and he will undergo an MRI exam for an abdominal strain. He felt a slight strain two days ago and didn't think the injury was serious. The MRI is purely precautionary.

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on the results of Cano's MRI exam and don't expect to be able to use him at least for a couple of days on FantasyScore. Brad Miller is moving over to second base in Cano's absence Wednesday, allowing Chris Taylor to start at shortstop. Both Mariners infielders are weaker daily plays against Arizona Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin today.

Mariners | Robinson Cano serving as DH

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 13:12:59 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano will bat cleanup and serve as the designated hitter against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle Sunday, July 26. INF Chris Taylor will bat seventh and play second base.

Fantasy Tip: Cano ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) is 9-for-32 against Buehrle in his career, with two doubles, three homers and 11 RBIs. Taylor ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has also experienced some success versus the lefty, with three hits in five lifetime at-bats against Buehrle.

Mariners | Robinson Cano enjoying lineup change

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 19:07:02 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano is hitting .417 with two home runs, seven RBI and eight runs scored in six games since being moved to the cleanup spot.

Fantasy Tip: Cano ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) is quickly erasing a horribly slow first half of the year. However, he is still hitting just .215 against lefties, so you may want to avoid him Sunday when Mark Buehrle ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) takes the mound for Toronto.

Mariners | Robinson Cano waking up

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 19:49:55 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in a 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers Thursday, July 23, and he is batting .500 with five runs scored over his last four games.

Fantasy Tip: Cano ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) is still well off his typical pace, but the signs of life are encouraging. He hasn't returned to must-start status at FantasyScore, but he is worth considering against friendly matchups.
