Texans | Cecil Shorts, Nate Washington probable

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 12:50:43 -0800

Houston Texans WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) and WR Nate Washington (hip) are listed as probable for the wild-card game against the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Jan. 9. Shorts fully participated in the team's walkthrough Friday, Jan. 8, while Washington was limited.

Fantasy Tip: Shorts ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Washington ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) should have role in the passing game against the Chiefs. Neither receiver posted big numbers during the regular season but could have some success this week since the Chiefs had some problems stopping receivers during the regular season. Both players could be cheaper options on FantasyScore, but owners should not expect big numbers.

Texans | Two Texans limited Thursday

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 13:17:09 -0800

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (calf) and WR Nate Washington (hip) were limited in practice Thursday, Jan. 7.

Fantasy Tip: The limited status is an upgrade for Washington ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) after not practicing yesterday. Washington is worth a look if you want a cheaper playoff wide receiver on FantasyScore, but Blue ($5,400, 10.8%) should be avoided altogether against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Texans | Nate Washington misses practice

Wed, 06 Jan 2016 12:12:20 -0800

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hip) did not practice Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Washington and Cecil Shorts are a little banged up right now. DeAndre Hopkins should be frequently targeted as usual, but Jaelen Strong could also see more action than usual. He may not be a bad sleeper for those in playoff contests.

Texans | Nate Washington day-to-day

Mon, 04 Jan 2016 13:09:13 -0800

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hip) is considered day-to-day, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Fantasy Tip: Of this year's playoff teams, the Kansas City Chiefs have actually been the second worst against wide receivers behind the Pittsburgh Steelers. If you're in a fantasy playoffs league, Washington may not be a bad WR3 option if he does play.

Texans | Nate Washington injures hip

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 13:16:33 -0800

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hip) suffered a hip injury during the team's Week 17 game and was not able to return.

Fantasy Tip: Washington will have the offseason to recover from the injury, so he should be fine for next season. He finished the season with 652 yards and four touchdowns but would only be a late-round option in some deeper leagues.

Texans | Three Houston players probable

Fri, 27 Nov 2015 12:46:25 -0800

Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer (concussion), RB Chris Polk (knee, hamstring) and WR Nate Washington (hip) are listed as probable for Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Hoyer ($6,600, 13.2% of cap), Polk ($2,500, 5.0%) and Washington ($4,000, 8.0%) all have really good matchups against the New Orleans Saints this week. Polk and Washington are too unreliable to consider starting, but Hoyer makes for a nice sleeper at quarterback as the Saints have allowed a league-high 28 touchdown passes to quarterbacks in 2015.

Texans | Three Texans fully practice Thursday

Thu, 26 Nov 2015 16:22:37 -0800

Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer (concussion), RB Chris Polk (knee, hamstring) and WR Nate Washington (hip) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: All three of these guys have really good matchups against one of the worst fantasy defenses in the league this year in the New Orleans Saints. Polk and Washington aren't too reliable, though, but Hoyer could be a nice sleeper play on FantasyScore in Week 12 as the Saints have allowed a league-high 28 touchdown passes to quarterbacks this year.

Texans | Two Texans have full practice

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 14:33:34 -0800

Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer (concussion) and WR Nate Washington (hip) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Hoyer ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) and Washington ($4,000, 8.0%) will be good to go in Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints. The whole Texans' offense has a great matchup versus New Orleans, but Washington may be the odd one out as he has played inconsistently this year. Hoyer is worth a start, though.

Texans | Nate Washington, Nick Novak probable

Fri, 20 Nov 2015 13:34:59 -0800

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hip) and PK Nick Novak (thigh) both practiced in full Friday, Nov. 20, and are probable for Week 11 against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Now that it's official that T.J. Yates is starting under center for Houston against a very capable defense, neither Washington ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) nor Novak are very attractive to fantasy owners this weekend.

Texans | Nick Novak, Nate Washington full go

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 13:29:22 -0800

Houston Texans PK Nick Novak (thigh) and WR Nate Washington (hip) both participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has been inconsistent throughout the 2015 season, and T.J. Yates will start this week, which gives less value to Houston's offense as a whole, including Novak . Use discretion with these guys in Week 11.

Texans | Nate Washington, Nick Novak practice

Wed, 18 Nov 2015 14:56:25 -0800

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hip) and PK Nick Novak (thigh) both practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Fantasy Tip: With Brian Hoyer (concussion) questionable this week, Houston's offense could suffer in a full game with T.J. Yates at the helm, which would in turn hurt the fantasy value of both Washington ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) and Novak. Washington had only two catches last Monday and has been inconsistent anyway.

Texans | Nate Washington, Cecil Shorts do little

Mon, 16 Nov 2015 21:40:23 -0800

Houston Texans WRs Nate Washington and Cecil Shorts III did very little in Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals Monday, Nov. 16. Washington posted two catches for 32 yards on five targets, while Shorts had three grabs for 16 yards on seven targets.

Fantasy Tip: Washington and Shorts were poor FantasyScore option Monday, and they don't have a great outlook in Week 11 if T.J. Yates makes the start in place of the injured Brian Hoyer.

Texans | Two Houston WRs probable

Sat, 14 Nov 2015 12:33:01 -0800

Houston Texans WRs Nate Washington (hip) and Cecil Shorts (hamstring) are listed as probable for Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Shorts ($4,200, 8.4%) decrease each other's value, so expectations for both should be lowered. The Bengals have been one of the top fantasy defenses against wide receivers this year, too, but they shouldn't be completely overlooked.

Texans | Cecil Shorts, Nate Washington practice

Fri, 13 Nov 2015 17:29:01 -0800

Houston Texans WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) and WR Nate Washington (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Shorts ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) and Washington ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) appear to be on track to play against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10. Shorts would be playing for the first time in around a month, while Washington has recorded 201 yards and three touchdowns in the last two games. Washington may be the more attractive option for owners, but both players could be cheaper options on FantasyScore.

Texans | Nate Washington limited Thursday

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 16:04:30 -0800

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hip) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) will need to be monitored this weekend, but the Texans do play Monday night, so he'll have an extra day to heal and practice. He may not do as well as he has in previous weeks if he does play, though, since Cecil Shorts is expected to return.

Panthers | Ted Ginn leads league in drops

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 11:28:51 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Ted Ginn Jr. leads all receivers with a 25% drop rate this year. Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans is second with a 17.9% drop rate, followed by Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (16.1%), Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (13.5%), New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (12.3%) and Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (9.8%).

Fantasy Tip: Ginn leads a list that includes some pretty heavy hitters in the wide receiver ranks. Ginn's knack for the big play is typically what carries his fantasy value, so he's hard to rely on in point-per-reception leagues like FantasyScore on a consistent basis.

Texans | Big game for Nate Washington

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 18:08:59 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington had nine catches on 16 targets for 127 yards and two touchdowns in a 44-26 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: With DeAndre Hopkins ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) having a rare off game, Washington ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) had his best performance of the year as the Texans threw early and often after falling behind. However, this type of production is likely the exception and not the norm for Washington.

Texans | Nate Washington probable

Fri, 23 Oct 2015 11:54:22 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) practiced Friday, Oct. 23, and is probable for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) isn't a real good FantasyScore flyer against the Miami Dolphins.

Texans | Nate Washington a full go

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 15:29:47 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) hasn't played since Oct. 4 when he had zero catches on zero targets. It looks like he'll be back this weekend against the Miami Dolphins, but he's a lottery ticket for the desperate in daily games.

Texans | Nate Washington has full practice

Wed, 21 Oct 2015 14:19:01 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Washington seems to be on his way to returning after missing last week. If Cecil Shorts sits, he's worth considering at just $2,200 (4.4% of cap) on FantasyScore.

Texans | Nate Washington out again

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 14:58:44 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) missed practice for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 16, and is out for Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: The Texans are banged up at receiver behind DeAndre Hopkins ($8,000, 16.0% of cap), who has seen at least 11 targets in all five games this year. Even with Cecil Shorts likely returning this weekend, Hopkins is a safe daily pick because of the amount of looks he's getting.

Texans | Nate Washington sits again

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 13:37:06 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) did not participate in practice for a second consecutive day Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: If Washington ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is unable to play, Cecil Shorts, Jaelen Strong and Keith Mumphery would all see increased value. And, of course, DeAndre Hopkins should see his usual amount of targets. Shorts ($2,800, 5.6%) and Strong ($2,300, 4.6%) would probably be better plays than Mumphery ($2,000, 4.0%) if Washington is ruled out.

Texans | Nate Washington sits out Wednesday

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 16:23:33 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) still has a few days to practice, but it does not look good at this point for his status for the Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Owners should look for other options since there is a good chance Washington will miss another game.

Texans | Cecil Shorts could return soon

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 17:39:58 -0700

Houston Texans WR Cecil Shorts (shoulder) has a better chance than WR Nate Washington (hamstring) to play in the Week 6 game against Jacksonville Jaguars, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Fantasy Tip: Shorts and Washington missed the Week 5 game because of their injuries but it appears at least one may be able to play against the Jaguars. Owners will need to monitor their practice participation next week to determine their availability for the game.

Texans | Nate Washington, Cecil Shorts ruled out

Wed, 07 Oct 2015 15:10:32 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) and WR Cecil Shorts (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 7, and have been ruled out for the Week 5 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Kevin Mumphrey ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Jaelen Strong ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will receive bigger roles on offense because of the injuries the team has at the position. They have not seen much playing time this season and should not be fantasy options for owners.

Texans | No practice for Nate Washington

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 16:16:17 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) missed practice Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) left the Texans' Week 4 contest with the hamstring injury that caused him to miss practice. It's not the most encouraging sign that Washington isn't practicing two days before gameday. Look for better options at the wide receiver position on FantasyScore.

Texans | Nate Washington sits out

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 16:28:55 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) did not participate in the team's walkthrough Monday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Washington suffered the injury in the last game and appears to be questionable for the game against the Indianapolis Colts Thursday, Oct. 8. Washington has played well early in the season, but owners may want to look for other options because the injury may affect Washington.

Texans | Nate Washington day-to-day

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 11:34:25 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) is considered day-to-day because of the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Washington will not have much time to recover since the team plays the Indianapolis Colts Thursday, Oct. 8. Owners will have a better idea of his status later in the week, but he has been off to a solid start this season.

Texans | Nate Washington out of the game

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 10:59:53 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) suffered an apparent hamstring injury during the team's Week 4 game.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has been off to a solid start with his new team, but this injury could hurt his fantasy value. Owners should avoid Washington for the time being.

Texans | Nate Washington on track to play

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 15:47:28 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (abdomen) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 18, and is listed as probable for the Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) should continue to have a solid role in the passing game after he recorded 105 yards in the first game of the season. Washington could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore looking to save some money.

Texans | Nate Washington practices Thursday

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 15:20:48 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (abdomen) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) led the team in receiving yards in Week 1 with 105 yards on six catches. Washington could be a cheaper option for an owner on FantasyScore because he should see plenty of playing time against the Carolina Panthers in Week 2.

Texans | Nate Washington limited Wednesday

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 16:11:20 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (abdomen) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) saw 11 targets and hauled in six catches for 105 yards in Week 1. He and Cecil Shorts are second and third, respectively, in the receiving pecking order behind DeAndre Hopkins in Houston. The Texans have already made a QB switch heading into Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers. Counting on another 11 targets from Ryan Mallett would be a mistake.

Texans | Nate Washington could be No. 2 WR

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 12:49:15 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington is projected to be the No. 2 wide receiver behind WR DeAndre Hopkins and ahead of WR Cecil Shorts, according to Tania Ganguli of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: Foster and Hopkins are really the only two Texans worth starting on fantasy rosters. Washington will make a big play here and there, but he shouldn't be viewed as more than a WR5, especially with what could very well be underachieving quarterback play.

Texans | Nate Washington doing well

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 12:37:37 -0700

Houston Texans WR Nate Washington has performed well this offseason, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Fantasy Tip: Washington will at least play behind DeAndre Hopkins and Cecil Shorts, and could also end up behind rookie Jaelen Strong and/or others. He has minimal fantasy value and is more of a waiver wire pickup.

Texans | Nate Washington signs with Houston

Wed, 01 Apr 2015 13:32:54 -0700

Free-agent WR Nate Washington (Titans) signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans worth $1 million, including $30,000 guaranteed, Wednesday, April 1.

Fantasy Tip: Washington isn't necessarily a pushover in the Texans' offense. Houston already has DeAndre Hopkins and Cecil Shorts, but Washington is a good, downfield target that could provide some value mainly in standard scoring leagues.

Titans | Derek Hagan likely third WR

Tue, 02 Dec 2014 14:52:07 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Derek Hagan is likely to join WRs Kendall Wright and Nate Washington as one of the top-three receivers now that WR Justin Hunter (spleen) is done for the year, starting in Week 14 against the New York Giants. Hagan had been working on special teams and as the team's fourth wideout. He played 32 snaps on offense and caught two passes for 39 yards in Week 13. WR Kris Durham is a young alternative, but the team isn't very high on him, he's not fast, and he's been inactive for 10 games. In the two games Durham was active, he didn't even play a single snap.

Fantasy Tip: Even though the Giants defense is vulnerable in the secondary, Hagan ($3,000) is a desperation play at FantasyScore because of the team's uncertainty at quarterback.

Titans | Nate Washington questionable

Fri, 07 Nov 2014 12:23:48 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Nate Washington (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 7, and is listed as questionable for Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Washington has not been a consistent option for fantasy owners this season, which does not make him the best option to start this week. Washington only costs $3,000 on FantasyScore, but owners should consider spending a little more money for a better option.

Titans | Nate Washington limited

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 13:24:54 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Nate Washington (shoulder) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Washington ($3,000) is at the bottom of the barrel for wide receivers at FantasyScore. He could be questionable for the game against the Baltimore Ravens. He isn't a strong option for your lineups, especially with rookie Zach Mettenberger leading the offense.

Titans | Teams interested in Nate Washington

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 19:50:37 -0700

The Tennessee Titans have been fielding calls from teams for WR Nate Washington, who recently lost his starting job to WR Justin Hunter. Washington is in the final year of a six-year, $26.8 million contract. He is making $4.8 million this season.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Washington is in Nashville, FantasyScore owners will want to avoid him. However, if he should land in a more favorable spot with another team, he could re-emerge as a viable fantasy option.

Titans | Justin Hunter moves up depth chart

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 19:06:34 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter displaced WR Nate Washington as the No. 2 receiver this past week. He led the team with 66 of 68 offensive snaps in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns, while Washington managed to play just 48 snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter is a deep play threat, but unless he has a big game in Week 6 to follow up his solid Week 5 performance, FantasyScore owners will want to avoid him. Play wait-and-see with Hunter for now.

Tennessee Titans WR Nate Washington is in the best shape of his life, according to receivers coach Shawn Jefferson. Jefferson added that Washington has become a leader in the locker room and is in midseason form.

Fantasy Tip: Itís best to take Jeffersonís praise with a grain of salt at this point. Washington could still end up being the teamís No. 3 option behind Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter, though Washington may be the teamís best deep threat. Consider him no more than a low-end WR3 in standard leagues
