Jets | Should release Tim Tebow?

Mon, 06 Aug 2012 07:23:37 -0700

Former NFL QB and current analyst Boomer Esiason said the New York Jets should release QB Tim Tebow as the idea of him being a backup quarterback is a mistake. "I'm just telling you right now, I would (cut him), and I'll tell you why I would," Esiason said. "It's not in any way, shape or form - I think - benefiting this team. All you have to do is watch him throw the ball. Just watch him."

Colts |Dungy not Happy with Esiason Remarks

Fri, 23 Sep 2005 11:46:10 -0700

Tom James, of the Tribune Star, reports former NFL QB Boomer Esiason said on Sirius Satellite Radio, in response to the Week 2 incident between Indianapolis Colts defensive line coach John Teerlinck and Jacksonville Jaguars QB Byron Leftwich, that Teerlinck teaches his players to go low to hit the opposing quarterback in the knees. "He used to teach 'dive at the quarterbacks knees.' During a game it was (former Vikings defensive tackle) John Randle diving at my knees. And I went over to Teerlinck and ripped him a new you-know-what. And I know that's exactly what Byron Leftwich was doing because he teaches his guys techniques that really border on trying to get somebody hurt and knock him out of the game." Colts head coach Tony Dungy took exception to Esiason's comments. Dungy also remains confident in Teerlinck's abilities and says Esiason, as well as other television and radio commentators, should stick to analyzing quarterbacks.
