Mets | Jose Reyes to lead off when ready

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 14:17:03 -0700

New York Mets SS Jose Reyes will move to the top of the order once he arrives from what is expected to be a short minor-league stint, during which time he is expected to play some third base and perhaps some time in center field. OF Curtis Granderson will move to an RBI spot, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: The injured David Wright still lead the Mets with three steals - a clear sign New York needs the speed Reyes can provide even if he is no longer in the prime of his career at 33 years old. Since Yoenis Cespedes and Neil Walker will likely occupy the third and fourth spots in the order on a regular basis, Granderson will probably bat fifth or sixth. Regardless, Granderson's average (.219) and RBI total (21) should both benefit from hitting behind Cespedes and Walker.

Mets | Terry Collins released from hospital

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 11:58:03 -0700

New York Mets manager Terry Collins (undisclosed) is headed home from a Milwaukee hospital and appears to be doing well. Collins was hospitalized overnight after feeling sick Sunday, June 12.

Fantasy Tip: This isn't the first health scare that Collins has had with the Mets, so the team is likely playing it safe with the veteran manager. It's unclear when he'll return to the dugout to manage, but his absence shouldn't affect that fantasy values of any players you may own on the Mets.

Mets | Jeurys Familia unavailable Saturday

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 12:07:47 -0700

New York Mets RP Jeurys Familia (rest) and Jim Henderson (finger) will not be available to the team on Saturday, June 11, against the Milwaukee Brewers. Familia has worked an inning and collected a save in each of the last nights, while Henderson will miss the game as a result of a torn fingernail he suffered in the Mets' victory on Friday, June 10. Manager Terry Collins has told reporters RP Addison Reed will close if a save situation arises.

Fantasy Tip: Familia should be available Sunday to build upon his major-league leading 21 saves, while Henderson may need another day or two after his injury required him to glue the skin back on his fingernail. Henderson can be ignored for fantasy purposes, but owners in leagues that allow daily transactions are advised to bench Familia for Reed today.

Mets | Neil Walker shaken up

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 23:47:46 -0700

New York Mets SP Neil Walker (chest) left the game Thursday, June 9, after taking a ball off his chest against the Milwaukee Brewers. Manager Terry Collins thought Walker might have broken a rib, and Walker himself felt light-headed so Collins took him out.

Fantasy Tip: There was no update on Walker's condition, although it appears Walker was just shaken up on the play. Stay tuned for updates on how Walker feels on Friday and whether or not he may sit out.

Mets | Jeurys Familia unavailable Saturday

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 12:28:20 -0700

New York Mets RP Jeurys Familia is unavailable to pitch on Saturday, April 16, after having pitched four of the previous five days, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets have Matt Harvey pitching Saturday, so there is a decent chance Familia may not be needed anyway. Should a save chance arise, Jim Henderson is the odds-on favorite to get the call, making him a reasonable play in daily fantasy.

Mets | Jacob deGrom's next start in doubt

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 15:29:33 -0700

New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom (lat) will not need an MRI on the right lat injury that knocked him out of his season debut Friday, April 8, but he is still "very sore", according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Core muscle injuries tend to linger if they are not allowed to fully heal, so deGrom owners need to be prepared to sit the ace for his next scheduled start at home against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Logan Verrett appears to be the frontrunner to get a spot start if the 27-year-old Florida native is unable to get cleared in time and would make for a reasonable play in season-long leagues as well as DFS.

Mets | Strict platoon for Michael Conforto

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 13:27:47 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto will not be playing against left-handed pitching for the remainder of the season, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Conforto ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) can officially be seated against lefties, as this is confirmation the team plans to limit his at-bats in the final two weeks. OF Michael Cuddyer ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) will see those at-bats and is worth the gamble when he plays.
