Fantasy Tip: Gordon ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has been slowly recovering from offseason wrist surgery. He's fine, but the Royals are looking to give him some rest early in the year so they don't overwork him. Orlando should be ignored in all fantasy formats.

Royals | Alex Gordon to sit for day games?

Wed, 08 Apr 2015 19:03:07 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon (wrist) will sit often during day games after night games, as manager Ned Yost wants to take it easy with his wrist, at least for the first part of the season. Yost feels Gordon can handle back-to-back situations, only as long as he has 24 hours to recover.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners will want to be extra careful to double-check lineups before finalizing with Gordon. Paulo Orlando will start in Gordonís place Thursday.

Royals | Alex Gordon likely sitting Thursday

Wed, 08 Apr 2015 16:43:47 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon (wrist) will likely be rested Thursday, April 9, according to manager Ned Yost. Yost also noted he'd look to spell Gordon -- who is still recovering from offseason wrist surgery -- early on in the season, especially day games after night games. Gordon approached Yost during the opener and told him, "If my wrist feels this good, I'm not going to need any days off." Yost and the Royals still intend on being careful with Gordon early in the year.

Royals | No contract talks for Alex Gordon

Thu, 19 Mar 2015 09:41:13 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon could spend his last spring training with the team this year, as his contract is up after the 2015 season, and he's backing off a statement he said earlier that he would pick up his $14 million player option for the 2016 season. There have been no talks between Gordon and the team on a contract extension as opening day quickly approaches. If Gordon continues to play well and stay healthy, the Royals are unlikely to pay top dollar for his services to keep him around.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is coming off wrist surgery, which clouds his fantasy baseball value. He has yet to play in spring games yet, either, so you'll need to watch his progress in these next few weeks. He's a steady producer across the board when healthy, though, recording double-digit home runs and stolen bases in each of the past four seasons. Look for him at a discount in the middle rounds.

Royals | Alex Gordon injury update

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 16:22:34 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon (wrist) will continue to take batting practice on the field for approximately the next week and then start playing in minor league games toward the end of next week, said Royals manager Ned Yost Wednesday, March 11. Yost can better control Gordon's number of at-bats in the minors, he noted.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon's ability to take at-bats now should allow him to shake off the offseason rust before games count. He projects to hit in the second spot in the order -- a nice spot for run production -- and he should finish the year with around 20 homers and roughly a dozen steals.
