Royals | Alex Gordon likely to return Tuesday

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 11:03:56 -0700

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said it is "reasonable" to expect that OF Alex Gordon (groin) will be activated from the disabled list when rosters are expanded Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is 10-for-25 with a home run and four RBIs in seven rehab games for Class AAA Omaha. He should be owned in all fantasy formats, although we won't blame FantasyScore owners for waiting a game or two following his return before using him again in their lineups.

Royals | Ben Zobrist moving to second base soon

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 16:49:50 -0700

Kansas City Royals 2B Ben Zobrist will "mostly" play second base when OF Alex Gordon (groin) returns from the disabled list, according to manager Ned Yost.

Fantasy Tip: This isn't shocking news, as it appeared likely, but it is still nice to hear confirmation from the skipper. Zobrist ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has been a force since joining the Royals with a .337/.426/.531 slash line over 26 games. Gordon ($3,600, 7.2% of cap), meanwhile, is currently rehabbing his groin injury in the minors and could join the Royals sooner than later, but it will likely correlate with rosters expanding in September. Gordon should be owned in all seasonal leagues.

Royals | Alex Gordon rehab update

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 17:48:41 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon (groin) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Class AAA Omaha Sunday, Aug. 23, according to manager Ned Yost.

Fantasy Tip: Although there is no established timetable for his return, it wouldn't be a surprise if Gordon ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) was activated from the disabled list when rosters are expanded in September. Ben Zobrist ($4,600, 9.2% of cap), who has seen occasional playing time in left field in his absence, should see most of his action at second base down the stretch.

Royals | Alex Gordon to be given long-term deal?

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 10:12:09 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon is expected to turn down his $12.5 million player option for next season, but the Royals are determined to offer him a long-term deal. Kansas City is hoping Gordon will stay true to his Midwest roots and be willing to take a hometown discount.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is currently on the DL and isn't expected to return until sometime next month. That means he's unlikely to provide much for fantasy owners over the remainder of this season. Only keep him stashed in deeper mixed leagues.

Royals | Alex Gordon nearing a rehab assignment

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 14:07:25 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon (groin) believes he can begin a rehab assignment soon, but a definitive date has not been set yet.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) should return some late-season production, but he still has a long way to go, so keep your expectations in check. The Royals are also running away with the American League Central Division, so there is no need for them to rush Gordon back into action. Continue to keep tabs on his progress, and he should be stashed in the majority of leagues.

Royals | Alex Gordon closer to returning

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 19:28:12 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon (groin) took indoor batting practice Tuesday, Aug. 4, and hit soft tosses outdoors Wednesday, Aug. 5. He could resume shagging fly balls and taking full batting practice later this week.

Fantasy Tip: If all goes well, Gordon ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) could return to action before the end of the month. Once this happens, expect the fantasy value of OF Jarrod Dyson ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) to decrease somewhat. Gordon could be available on the waiver wire in many seasonal leagues where owners dropped him under the belief that his injury was going to sideline him for the rest of the year.

Royals | KC looking for outfielders

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 09:59:35 -0700

With Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon (groin) injured, the Royals are searching for outfielders at the trade deadline, and they prefer OF Jarrod Dyson in something less than an everyday role. Kansas City is also worried about OF Alex Rios, who has struggled since the first two weeks of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Until the Royals trade for another outfielder, Dyson ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is an excellent source of stolen bases in all formats, especially if you just lost Dee Gordon to the DL.
