Blue Jays | Troy Tulowitzki, Russell Martin out

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 12:31:44 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Troy Tulowitzki and C Russell Martin are not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 30. 2B Darwin Barney is starting at the 6 and is hitting eighth, while C Josh Thole starts again behind the plate and is batting ninth against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco.

Fantasy Tip: Normal off days for Tulo and Martin, so don't sound the alarm bells. Both Barney and Thole are less than ideal offensive producers and should be avoided in all fantasy formats, especially while rounding out the bottom of Toronto's lineup.

Blue Jays | Troy Tulowitzki goes deep vs. former team

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 01:21:18 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Troy Tulowitzki blasted his fourth homer in his last eight games against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday, June 28.

Fantasy Tip: Tulo went hitless in his return to Colorado on Monday but sparked a six-run fourth inning with a solo shot off Eddie Butler. The five-time All-Star's .214 average is nothing to look at, but a closer look reveals he is 9-for-30 over his last eight games. Tulowitzki is worth using at the moment, especially against rookie southpaw Tyler Anderson on Wednesday afternoon.

Blue Jays | Tulo hitless in Denver return

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 22:30:16 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Troy Tulowitzki was hitless in four at-bats in his first game in Denver Monday, June 27, since being acquired from the Colorado Rockies last July 27.

Fantasy Tip: Tulo is having a nightmare season, hitting just .214. If you have him on your fantasy roster and stuck it out with him this far, you cannot drop him now. However, you might want to keep him reserved until he shows some signs of life.

Blue Jays | Russell Martin back in lineup Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 10:10:14 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin is back in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Sunday, June 26. In addition, OF Junior Lake is batting eighth and playing right field, while INF Darwin Barney is batting ninth and playing shortstop. SS Troy Tulowitzki will bat sixth and serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Martin is batting .264 with three home runs and 14 RBI in 53 at-bats this month and makes a viable catching option today. Barney has cooled off at the plate following a hot start and is hitting .250 through 60 at-bats in June. Lake has only had two at-bats since joining the Jays and should be strictly viewed as desperation salary cap relief.

Blue Jays | Troy Tulowitzki heating up

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 10:22:54 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Troy Tulowitzki is hitting .303 with five homers and 13 RBI in his last 18 games after hitting .165 with five homers and 13 RBI in his first 32 games.

Fantasy Tip: Tulo remains an upper-echelon option at the position regardless of format.

Blue Jays | Troy Tulowitzki leaves the yard

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 15:23:22 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Troy Tulowitzki finished 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer and also scored twice against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, June 19 - his econd game back since coming off the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Tulowitzki went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his return to the lineup on Saturday, so it's much too early to declare whether he's back or not. On a positive note, he's back over .200 (.206, to be exact) after spending most of his season under the Mendoza line prior to his DL stint for a quad injury. Tulowitzki is a career .282 hitter with 26 home runs and 78 RBI against the Arizona Diamondbacks - Toronto's next opponent - so keep him active and hope a familiar foe brings out the best in him.

Blue Jays | Troy Tulowitzki activated from disabled list

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 10:04:37 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays have activated SS Troy Tulowitzki (quadriceps) from the 15-day disabled list. He is in the starting lineup versus Baltimore Orioles SP Yovani Gallardo Saturday, June 18, batting sixth. In a corresponding move, 3B Andy Burns was optioned to Class AAA Buffalo.

Fantasy Tip: Tulowitzki is batting just .204 with eight home runs and 23 RBI this season but had been playing better prior to landing on the disabled list. Daily fantasy players should wait at least one game before using him again to make sure he is both healthy and effective.

Blue Jays | Troy Tulowitzki could be back soon

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 14:04:46 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Troy Tulowitzki (quadriceps) could be back from the disabled list in a couple of days, according to manager John Gibbons. Tulowitzki was working out at Toronto's minor league complex Friday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Tulo has had a rough year (.204/.289/.383 with eight home runs and 23 RBI), but he was starting to turn things around at the plate before his injury. He should've remained stashed in all leagues, mainly for his power at the shortstop position.

Blue Jays | Troy Tulowitzki close to game action

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 14:30:15 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Troy Tulowitzki (quadriceps) took four at-bats in extended spring training Wednesday, June 15, and he might play for Class A Dunedin Thursday, June 16.

Fantasy Tip: Tulowitzki is worth stashing in all fantasy formats while working his way back to the majors. He has been extremely underwhelming since joining Toronto with a .221/.303/.382 slash line through 373 plate appearances, but was hot before sustaining the injury (eight runs, three home runs, 10 RBI and a .313/.358/.604 slash line through 13 games). Stay tuned for updates.

Blue Jays | Troy Tulowitzki ready for game action

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 13:28:46 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Troy Tulowitzki (quadriceps) is feeling better and is expected to play for Class A Dunedin Wednesday, June 15, according to manager John Gibbons.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to stash Tulowitzki in all formats. He's a mid- to high-end option at shortstop and had eight runs, three home runs, 10 RBI and a .313/.358/.604 slash line through his most recent 13 games before suffering the injury. At the same time, though, he's injury prone, past his prime and hasn't been the same hitter since joining Toronto, so don't overvalue Tulowitzki upon his return.
