Nationals | Several Nats regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 09:53:44 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman, C Wilson Ramos and SS Danny Espinosa are not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Jimmy Nelson Sunday, June 26. 1B Clint Robinson will bat sixth and play first base, INF Stephen Drew will bat seventh and play shortstop and C Jose Lobaton will bat eighth and start behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Of this afternoon's three replacements in the Washington lineup, Drew is the most productive source of salary cap relief for daily fantasy contests. He is 9-for-19 with two doubles, three home runs and eight RBI during the month of June and has raised his average for the season from .173 to .254.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy, Ryan Zimmerman out

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 16:04:16 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy and 1B Ryan Zimmerman are not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 16. 2B Stephen Drew is starting at second base and is hitting seventh, while 1B Clint Robinson draws in at first base and is batting fifth against San Diego Padres SP Erik Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: Just normal days of rest for Murphy and Zimmerman. Act accordingly to bench them in seasonal and daily leagues. Robinson is hitting .222 with two home runs and 10 RBI, while Drew has a .246/.301/.554 slash line with six long balla and 13 RBI. Both flash occasional power but are nothing more than deep sleepers on the odd chance they connect tonight.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman sitting out

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 07:41:49 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola Saturday, June 11. 1B Clint Robinson will start at first base and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson has been used mostly as a pinch hitter recently and has only two hits in his last eight games. Owners in all leagues probably can avoid Robinson since there should be other options to use.

Nationals | Trea Turner sent back down

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 06:43:32 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Trea Turner was optioned to Class AAA Syracuse Monday, June 6, and 1B Ryan Zimmerman was activated from the paternity list.

Fantasy Tip: Turner went 3-for-3 in his short stint and has done nothing but rake all year. The team will be forced to find a place for him at some point. You must hold onto him in NL-only leagues and deeper mixed formats. Zimmerman returns to the midrange fray of first basemen in fantasy.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman to paternity list

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 07:32:39 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman was placed on the paternity list Friday, June 3. In a corresponding move, SS Trea Turner was recalled from the minors.

Fantasy Tip: Turner is one of the Nats' top prospects, and he's an immediate upgrade at the 6 over light-hitting Danny Espinosa. However, it's unclear how much Turner will play or how long he'll stay in the majors with Zimmerman likely only to miss a handful of games. If Turner plays and hits, he may force Washington's hand. Add Turner everywhere if he's available.

Nationals | Trea Turner headed to D.C.

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 15:44:28 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals SS Trea Turner will be recalled from the minors to join the Nationals Friday, June 3, with 1B Ryan Zimmerman likely to go on paternity leave.

Fantasy Tip: Turner is likely owned in most formats already, and he should be added immediately in any leagues where he's available. He's an immediate upgrade over Danny Espinosa and was hitting .310 with 17 steals in 17 attempts at Class AAA Syracuse. However, it's unclear how long Turner might stick around if Zimmerman will return in several days. Stay tuned.

Nationals | Trea Turner on his way up?

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 15:35:40 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Trea Turner is not with Class AAA Syracuse Thursday, June 2, and is likely to be called up with 1B Ryan Zimmerman possibly landing on the paternity list.

Fantasy Tip: Even though this could be a short stay for Turner, it was inevitable that he'd be up in the big leagues for the Nats with Danny Espinosa's bat underwhelming at the 6. Turner's bat will be an immediate upgrade at the position. He was hitting a cool .310 with three home runs, 24 RBI and 17 steals in 50 games for Syracuse. Add him immediately in all leagues if he's out there on the waiver wire.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman has four hits

Sun, 29 May 2016 04:50:58 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman had four hits, including two home runs, in a 9-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, May 28. Zimmerman stands at .244/.314/.440 for the year.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman's batting average is still low, but his slugging percentage has gotten better in relation to his hitting. The Nationals had a dismal day overall, but Zimmerman showed why he merits playinf in DFS and annual formats.

Nationals | Several WAS regulars return to lineup

Sun, 22 May 2016 08:10:37 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman, OF Jayson Werth and C Wilson Ramos are back in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Adam Conley Sunday, May 22.

Fantasy Tip: Despite getting off to a lackluster start this year, Werth is batting .455 (10-for-22) with three home runs and seven RBI versus left-handed pitching, making him worthy of lineup consideration for daily fantasy games. Ramos is batting .333 in 72 at-bats on the road and is hitting .339 overall, so he should be viewed as a potential value play.

Nationals | Three Nats on the bench

Sat, 21 May 2016 13:58:36 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth, 1B Ryan Zimmerman and C Wilson Ramos are out of the lineup Saturday, May 21. OF Chris Heisey is hitting second, 1B Clint Robinson hits fifth and C Jose Lobaton hits eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Heisey has rather pedestrian numbers on the year, but he has two homers in 15 at-bats this month. He has a tough draw against Jose Fernandez, but he has upside ahead of Bryce Harper. Robinson has a .294-2-6 line in 17 at-bats this month and has taken Fernandez deep before. He's a fringe option worth consideration today. Lobaton doesn't have the offensive potential for the stream today.
