Pirates | Andrew McCutchen back Friday

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 15:23:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen (knee) is back in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Josh Collmenter Friday, April 24, and he's starting in center field and hitting in his customary No. 3 spot.

Fantasy Tip: McCutchen ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) is playing at less than 100% health with an achy knee, and it's likely contributed to his slow start (.200-2-10) in 2015. Most FantasyScore owners might be avoiding Cutch because of his April slump, but facing Collmenter could be the perfect elixir to get things rolling, especially at hitter-friendly Chase Field.

Pirates | Andrew McCutchen has achy knee

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 14:22:02 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen (knee) was rested Thursday, April 23, as he deals with an achy left knee. The team will continue to monitor him after he admitted he's not 100%. However, the pain in his knee has been manageable.

Fantasy Tip: That might help explain McCutchen's ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) slow start this year (.204-2-10). At FantasyScore, you'll probably want to shy away from him until he shows signs of life and better health. Corey Hart ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) and Andrew Lambo ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) may see more playing time if McCutchen is rested more often or needs to miss significant time.

Pirates | Andrew McCutchen sitting

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 08:40:22 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen is not in the lineup Thursday, April 23.

Fantasy Tip: Just a day of rest in a day game following a night game. Gregory Polanco ($3,700 salary; 7.4% of cap) is taking his place in center field, while Andrew Lambo ($1,600; 3.2%) is in right field. Polanco is a useful FantasyScore play, but feel free to ignore Lambo.

Pirates | Andrew McCutchen out Saturday

Sat, 11 Apr 2015 12:15:51 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen (knee) is not in the starting lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday, April 11, because of left knee pain. OF Starling Marte will play center field and bat cleanup, with OF Andrew Lambo playing left field and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: It is uncertain how much time McCutchen ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) will miss or even if he'll be available to pinch-hit later in the game, so keep checking back for updates. Marte ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is a viable option for FantasyScore owners looking for a low-cost, high-potential outfielder but Lambo ($1,600) isn't worthy of consideration in daily leagues.

Pirates | Andrew McCutchen leaves early Friday

Sat, 11 Apr 2015 06:17:09 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen (knee) removed himself from the game in the ninth inning Friday, April 10, because of knee discomfort, according to manager Clint Hurdle. "He took himself out after he ran down the line after the at-bat," Hurdle said. "He felt a little something."

Fantasy Tip: Hurdle added the injury wasn't related to a seventh-inning attempted diving catch by McCutchen, and Hurdle didn't not respond to the question of whether the knee discomfort was related to the lower-body discomfort which kept McCutchen out during spring training. For the time being, consider McCutchen a slightly more risky daily play and continue to check back for updates on his status.

Pirates | No setbacks for Andrew McCutchen

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 14:44:11 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen (lower body) said he felt good Tuesday, March 24, after appearing in his first spring training game in 12 days. He is not concerned with being ready for opening day, and neither is manager Clint Hurdle. McCutchen reaffirmed he would have been in the lineup if it was the regular season, too.

Fantasy Tip: McCutchen ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) is an early first-round selection in all fantasy formats, and one of the true five-category contributors. The Pirates open the season against the Cincinnati Reds at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park, so Cutch should be on your radar for FantasyScore contests, especially if he finishes the spring strong.

McCutchen ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) is worth considering for FantasyScore contests in his first series of the season against the Cincinnati Reds at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park, too.

Pirates | Andrew McCutchen still sidelined

Wed, 18 Mar 2015 11:33:49 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen (lower body) remains out of the lineup with lower body soreness, but it does not appear to be serious.

Fantasy Tip: McCutchen still has a few weeks before the regular season starts, so owners should not be worried at this point. McCutchen can help owners in most of the offensive categories and should be selected in the first round of all drafts.
