Sun, 26 Jun 2016 13:38:50 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce homered for the 17th time this season Sunday, June 26, in a 3-0 win over the San Diego Padres.

Fantasy Tip: It has been a nice season for Bruce, who has 17 homers in 70 games and is on pace to surpass the 26 he hit a year ago. Not only that, Bruce's average is up by 54 points. He should be active in all formats.

Giants | SF inquires about Jay Bruce

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 23:14:38 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce has received interest from the San Francisco Giants, who haven't heard back from the Reds yet.

Fantasy Tip: Bruce has a .281-16-55 line, and one might think that his numbers are heavily skewed for Great American Ball Park's friendly confines to hitters. The power is there with 10 homers, but he's hitting .320 on the road. He has hit .262 or better just twice in his career, but his .302 BABIP suggests that it could be sustainable. Bruce is a great third outfielder, and a deal shouldn't hurt him too much.

Even more impressively, the 29-year-old has driven in 11 runs seven games into Cincinnati's current road trip, increasing his RBI total for the month to 22. He's a top-15 fantasy outfielder and should be started in all leagues.

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce will serve as the designated hitter against Houston Astros SP Mike Fiers Sunday, June 19. OF Tyler Holt will start in right field and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Holt has struggled recently with only one hit in his last 14 at-bats. He is hitting .250 in his limited playing time this season but is not a strong fantasy option. Bruce has played well this season and should be a starting option in all leagues.

Reds | Jay Bruce continues to hit

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 13:06:10 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce is batting .308 (20-for-65) in his last 17 games. However, he's struggled against his opponent Wednesday, June 15, in Atlanta Braves SP Bud Norris. Bruce is hitting .222 (4-for-18) with six strikeouts in his career against Norris.

Fantasy Tip: Bruce has been one of the best right fielders in baseball this year with a .271/.329/.584 slash line and 15 home runs and 49 RBI. Despite his numbers against Norris in the past, you can't bench Bruce in any seasonal leagues right now, and he's worth paying up for in daily setups. His fantasy value could only shoot up if he's dealt this summer.

Reds | Jay Bruce cranks his 13th homer

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 15:05:20 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce did a bit of everything Sunday, June 5, going 1-for-3 - including a three-run home run - walking twice and scoring twice in a loss to the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Bruce is currently batting .280, which would be his highest mark since 2010, and has 40 RBI, putting him well on pace to break his previous career high of 109 three seasons ago. While the 29-year-old figures to be at the center of trade discussions yet again this summer for the last-place Reds, he has handsomely rewarded the owners that used a middle-round pick on him. Keep him active as Cincy continues its home stand on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
