Mets | Yoenis Cespedes likely out through break

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 15:52:54 -0700

New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes (quad) is not in the lineup against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer on Saturday, July 9. OF Alejandro De Aza will take his spot in center field and bat eighth. Cespedes has already been replaced by Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce on the NL All-Star roster, which suggests he won't play Sunday, June 10 either.

Fantasy Tip: Get him out of all fantasy lineups immediately. Cespedes told reporters he missed four to five days the last time he had a quad strain, so he is a good bet to be back in the heart of the Mets' order when they begin play next weekend, meaning he should be in all fantasy lineups at that time as well.

Blue Jays | Toronto eyeing Jay Bruce?

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 21:36:24 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce's "most likely" destination if traded is the Toronto Blue Jays, according to Jon Heyman of TodaysKnuckleball.com.

Fantasy Tip: Bruce is having a strong season for a bad Cincinnati team, and his value would only go up if he lands in Toronto. He would still enjoy a hitter-friendly home park, and his supporting cast would be stronger.

Reds | Jay Bruce enters as pinch hitter

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 17:04:26 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce (rest) didn't start Wednesday, July 6, versus the Chicago Cubs, so he could rest assorted aches and pains, according to manager Bryan Price. However, he was able to enter the game as a pinch hitter, drawing a walk before being thrown out trying to steal second base.

Fantasy Tip: This should ensure Bruce is perfectly healthy and simply needed a day off to rest, as touched on by Price. Although he didn't make the All-Star team, Bruce is arguably having the best year of his career, with 18 home runs, 62 RBI and a relatively respectable .268 batting average. He's actually on pace for career highs in homers and RBI, and perhaps just as important, he's also in line to record his lowest amount of K's up at bat as well.

Reds | Jay Bruce has day off

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 08:51:00 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce is out of the lineup Wednesday, July 6, with OF Jose Peraza hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Peraza is hitting .242 with seven steals, but it's hard to play a steals guy in DFS because you can't rely on them. He's a weak option against Adam Warren in DFS today.

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 18:46:32 -0700

Fantasy Tip: The 29-year-old Bruce was hitting .279 with 17 home runs and 59 RBI in 73 games entering play Thursday, June 30. He should be viewed as a starting outfield option in all fantasy formats.

Reds | Jay Bruce could have rough night

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 11:41:02 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce has only three hits in 18 at-bats with four strikeouts in his career against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester, who he faces Tuesday, June 28.

Fantasy Tip: You aren't benching Bruce in seasonal leagues after he's put up a .278 average with 17 home runs and 59 RBI this season, but in the lefty-on-lefty matchup in DFS you shouldn't be paying up for Bruce's services tonight.
