Reds | Jay Bruce not playing Sunday

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 08:41:02 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Chase Anderson Sunday, Aug. 23. 2B Skip Schumaker will start in left field and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Bruce ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) should return to the lineup soon. Schumaker ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has a hit in each of his last three games but is hitting .167 in August and should not be a starting option on FantasyScore.

Reds | Jay Bruce returns to lineup

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 12:27:32 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce is back in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke Sunday, Aug. 16, batting fifth and playing right field.

Fantasy Tip: Bruce ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is only batting .145 this month and is just 5-for-30 against Greinke in his career, with a home run and five RBIs. FantasyScore owners should avoid using him until he shows signs of snapping out of his slump.

Reds | Jay Bruce out of the starting lineup

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 12:29:15 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 31. It is a planned night off and does not mean he will be traded.

Fantasy Tip: Jason Bourgeois ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) draws into the lineup in place of Bruce ($5,200, 10.4% of cap), and Bourgeois will bat second against Pirates SP Jeff Locke ($5,600, 11.2% of cap). Mets | Jay Bruce not headed to Mets?

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 09:48:22 -0700

The New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds may have hit a snag in their discussions on sending OF Jay Bruce to the Mets, according to sources. The Reds are having second thoughts about what the Mets are offering.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets' attempt at a trade for another high-profile outfielder fell apart the other day, too, when they balked at acquiring Carlos Gomez. Could it happen again? Stay tuned as the trade deadline nears. Bruce's ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) fantasy value figures to take at least a slight hit if he moves to a pitcher-friendly environment at Citi Field.

Mets | NY closer to getting Jay Bruce

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 08:57:36 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce is closer to being traded to the New York Mets in exchange for SP Zack Wheeler Friday, July 31. The two teams are reviewing medical information. Bruce is hitting .257 with 17 home runs and 59 RBI in 350 at-bats and will make $12.5 million next year with a team option for $13 million for 2017.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets could surely use a power boost that Bruce ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) would give them. Bruce's fantasy value might take a small hit moving to a more pitcher-friendly environment in Citi Field, although his power can play anywhere.

Reds | Jay Bruce to the Mets?

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 06:21:10 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce was the focus of overnight trade talks Friday, July 31, with the New York Mets. Industry sources expect the deal will happen.

Fantasy Tip: Bruce ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has been on a tear of late, with 10 RBI in his last five games. Citi Field is among the best parks for hitters, but the lineup could negatively impact Bruce's fantasy worth.

Reds | Jay Bruce on a tear

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 21:19:36 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce went 1-for-4 with three RBI in a 15-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday, July 30, and he has had at least one RBI in five straight games.

Fantasy Tip: Bruce ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has 10 RBI during the streak, but with his name being mentioned in trade rumors, he is a risky option at FantasyScore Friday with the trade deadline looming.

Mets | Jay Bruce an option for Mets?

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 17:14:36 -0700

The Cincinnati Reds are willing to trade OF Jay Bruce to the New York Mets for SP Zack Wheeler now.

Fantasy Tip: A move away from the hitter-friendly environment of Great American Ballpark to the more pitching-friendly venue of Citi Field would cause Bruce's ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) to drop a little bit. However, he has power that plays anywhere, so it probably wouldn't be a drastic shift.
