Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury healthy

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 11:15:02 -0800

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is believed to be fully healthy after dealing with several injuries that slowed him down last year. The Yankees are expecting a bounce-back season from him in 2016, and they continue to believe he's one of their most talented players.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury's power took a drop (seven long balls), but it may have been a direct result of his ailments. He has a history of solid production when healthy, though, so he could be undervalued in your drafts and come at a nice value.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury not right

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 14:08:54 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury's swing hasn't been right since he crashed into a wall trying to make a catch last Wednesday, according to hitting coach Jeff Pentland. Ellsbury is not in the lineup for the wild-card game against the Houston Astros Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: With the Yanks facing a tough lefty in Dallas Keuchel tonight, Ellsbury is on the bench. He hit just .202 (23-for-114) with no homers and three RBI in September. Make sure to avoid him tonight. Chris Young ($5,900, 11.8% of cap), a noted lefty killer, is a very interesting sleeper pick on FantasyScore tonight and is hitting second in the lineup.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury out for wild-card game

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 13:20:22 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is not starting the American League wild-card game Tuesday, Oct. 6, against the Houston Astros. OF Chris Young is in his place. Two fellow lefties, OF Brett Gardner and C Brian McCann, are in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has a .253-2-11 line against lefties, which isn't much worse than his luck against right-handers. Young ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) hits .300 against Astros SP Dallas Keuchel with two doubles and a triple, so he may have some more luck.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury not playing

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 08:01:46 -0700

OF Chris Young will start in left field against SP Wei-Yin Chen and is batting fourth in the lineup, while OF Brett Gardner will start in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) likely is out of the lineup because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Young ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has five hits and one RBI over his last five games and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury, Chase Headley beat up

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 09:25:06 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (back) and 3B Chase Headley (back) did not start due to sore backs Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: The Yanks clinched a wild-card berth last night with a win over the Boston Red Sox, so you better believe there's a good chance that both Ellsbury ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) and Headley ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) will be out again Friday night. They are pretty risky FantasyScore selections.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann out

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 13:48:46 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury and C Brian McCann are not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 25. C J.R. Murphy is batting fifth and OF Chris Young is batting sixth against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ellsbury ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) and McCann ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. Young ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Murphy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap), on the other hand, are both viable options at FanasyScore. Murphy's .471 slugging percentage against southpaws warrants attention as a low-priced flier, and Young boasts a target-worthy .964 OPS against lefties.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury slumping mightily

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 17:38:03 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is batting .208 over his last 168 at-bats and has seen his average for the season drop from .283 to .253 since the beginning of August. Manager Joe Girardi hoped that he would be "refreshed" following the club's day off Thursday, Sept. 17, combined with his exclusion from the lineup against the New York Mets Friday, Sept. 18. However, Ellsbury claimed that he was not tired.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Ellsbury ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) had two hits during his last start against the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday, Sept. 16, he is batting a paltry .123 during the month of September and should be avoided in FantasyScore.
