Yankees | Several Yankees return to lineup

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 11:17:59 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury, C Brian McCann, SS Didi Gregorius and 1B Mark Teixeira will start against San Francisco Giants SP Johnny Cueto Saturday, July 23. Ellsbury will bat second, McCann willbat fourth, Gregorius will bat sixth and Teixeira will bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: It makes sense that Joe Girardi wants all of his normal left-handed batters in the lineup against hard-throwing right hander Johnny Cueto. Ellsbury and McCann are probably the better bets for daily lineups, especially McCann, who has three homers and four runs batted in in 10 career at-bats against Cueto.

Yankees | Four Yankees regulars sitting Friday

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 13:34:21 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury, 1B Mark Teixeira, C Brian McCann and SS Didi Gregorius are out of the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants left-handed SP Madison Bumgarner Friday, July 22. OF Aaron Hicks is in center field and hitting eighth, 2B Rob Refsnyder is at second and batting sixth, C Austin Romine is behind the dish and hitting seventh and 2B Ronald Torreyes is at the 6 and batting ninth. Also, 2B Starlin Castro moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: All four players sitting are left-handed, which makes since with MadBum being one of the tougher southpaws in the league. None of Hicks, Refsnyder, Romine or Torreyes should be anything more than desperation daily stabs in the tough matchup. Castro, however, might be a contrarian play with the move up the batting order given the fact he's also been swinging a hot stick.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury drives in three

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 14:15:53 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury finished 2-for-5, including a three-run shot, and scored twice against the Cleveland Indians on Sunday, July 10.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury is hitting .333 in July after today's performance, but he hasn't received a ton of help from his friends in the heart of the order. His two runs on Sunday matched his month's output, while his three RBI surpass his total from his last 17 games dating back to June 19. Ellsbury will end the first half with a .279 average, four homers, 29 RBI, 16 steals and 37 runs scored.

Yankees | Three Yankees regulars sitting

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 14:29:51 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury, SS Didi Gregorius and C Brian McCann are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP Carlos Rodon Tuesday, July 5. OF Aaron Hicks is in center field and hitting eighth, 2B Rob Refsnyder draws in at second base and is batting seventh and C Austin Romine is catching and hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: The Yanks are resting some of their lefty hitters with a southpaw on the bump. All three replacements won't be all that attractive in DFS this evening. Hicks might be the most appealing as a deep sleeper, but he's batting .203 on the season with three homers and 16 RBI.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury sitting vs. Twins

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 13:25:38 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 24. OF Aaron Hicks is starting in center field and batting eighth against SP Tommy Milone Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury is a viable starter in the majority of seasonal leagues, but his stat line (30 runs, three home runs, 24 RBI, 12 stolen bases and .278/.339/.406 slash line) highlight his decline from fantasy stardom. Hicks has some upside, but he is nothing more than a depth option in cavernous mixed and AL-only setups. However, he might be a sneaky low-priced flier in daily contests Friday.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury on nice run

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 16:43:56 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury has played very well over his past 40 games, hitting .319 with a .382 on-base percentage over that stretch. Manager Joe Girardi thinks the biggest reason for this surge is simply his "health."

Fantasy Tip: That would seem to make a lot of sense, as Ellsbury has been hindered by injuries in his two-plus years with the Yankees. Remember, he missed more than 50 games a season ago. Having been able to stay healthy now, the 32-year-old is starting to look like his old self, and could end up providing standout value considering where he was typically taken in drafts this year.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury out Tuesday

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 13:09:07 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, June 7, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. OF Aaron Hicks is in center and will bat ninth against Angels SP David Huff.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury gets a night off because of the lefty vs. lefty matchup, so Hicks will fill in. Hicks has flirted with the Mendoza line all season long and carries little fantasy value, so look elsewhere.

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 19:39:09 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury went 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBI against the Detroit Tigers Thursday, June 2.

Fantasy Tip: Since May 1, Ellsbury is batting .329 (27-for-82) with 10 RBI and six stolen bases. He should be viewed as a viable outfield option in all fantasy formats.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury out vs. lefty

Thu, 26 May 2016 11:01:52 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ Thursday, May 26. OF Aaron Hicks is starting in center field and is hitting second.

Fantasy Tip: Hicks is batting .205 (18-for-88) with two home runs and 10 RBI on the year. That includes a .162 average with no home runs and four RBI against left-handers. Despite the nice lineup position, Hicks remains a low-end DFS flyer.
