Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury sitting vs. Twins

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 13:25:38 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 24. OF Aaron Hicks is starting in center field and batting eighth against SP Tommy Milone Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury is a viable starter in the majority of seasonal leagues, but his stat line (30 runs, three home runs, 24 RBI, 12 stolen bases and .278/.339/.406 slash line) highlight his decline from fantasy stardom. Hicks has some upside, but he is nothing more than a depth option in cavernous mixed and AL-only setups. However, he might be a sneaky low-priced flier in daily contests Friday.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury on nice run

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 16:43:56 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury has played very well over his past 40 games, hitting .319 with a .382 on-base percentage over that stretch. Manager Joe Girardi thinks the biggest reason for this surge is simply his "health."

Fantasy Tip: That would seem to make a lot of sense, as Ellsbury has been hindered by injuries in his two-plus years with the Yankees. Remember, he missed more than 50 games a season ago. Having been able to stay healthy now, the 32-year-old is starting to look like his old self, and could end up providing standout value considering where he was typically taken in drafts this year.

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 13:09:07 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, June 7, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. OF Aaron Hicks is in center and will bat ninth against Angels SP David Huff.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury gets a night off because of the lefty vs. lefty matchup, so Hicks will fill in. Hicks has flirted with the Mendoza line all season long and carries little fantasy value, so look elsewhere.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury may return this weekend

Fri, 13 May 2016 06:44:47 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (hip) continues to progress and could return sometime this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury has a .260-1-9 line with nine steals thus far. The power hasn't been there, but if he can stay healthy, 30 steals is well within range. He's a midrange option in the outfield. Aaron Hicks and Dustin Ackley have played a lot with the team rotating players at DH while A-Rod (hamstring) is also out. Hicks and Ackley are meager DFS options that will be relegated back to the bench. They're AL-only depth options for now.
