Astros | Two Astros sitting Wednesday

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 10:51:12 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus and C Jason Castro are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 29, with 1B Marwin Gonzalez hitting second and OF Jake Marisnick hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez has a .303-2-9 line this month, and he's a sneaky low-end play against Jered Weaver. Marisnick is hitting just .178 this year, and he's not a good DFS option.

Astros | Colby Rasmus smacks four hits

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 22:06:11 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI against the Kansas City Royals on Friday, June 24. He hit his 10th home run of the season.

Fantasy Tip: In Rasmus' last 10 games he's 14-for-37 (.378) with two home runs, four RBI and seven runs scored. It's a nice run for the free-swinging outfielder, but it's not enough to elevate him past AL-only/deep mixed fodder.

Astros | Colby Rasmus, Jason Castro out

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 14:33:53 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus and C Jason Castro are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Tuesday, June 21. C Evan Gattis will start at catcher, while 2B Danny Worth will serve as the designated hitter and is batting sixth. OF Jake Marisnick will start in left field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Worth and Marisnick are both hitting under .212 so far this season and have six RBI combined. Owners in all leagues should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Astros | Colby Rasmus, Jason Castro sitting out

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 09:21:45 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus and C Jason Castro are not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Brandon Finnegan Sunday, June 19. 2B Jose Altuve will serve as the designated hitter, while C Evan Gattis will start at catcher. INF Danny Worth will start at second base and is batting sixth. OF Jake Marisnick will start in left field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Worth and Marisnick have not done much at the plate this season and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues. Altuve is a must-start option in all leagues, while Gattis is not a great option at this point because he is on a cold streak.

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 10:20:47 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus and INF Luis Valbuena are not in the starting lineup versus Cincinnati Reds SP Cody Reed Saturday, June 18. INF Danny Worth will bat sixth and play third base, while OF Jake Marisnick bats ninth and plays left field.

Astros | Colby Rasmus snaps homerless drought

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 22:02:25 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus went 2-for-4 with his ninth home run of the season Tuesday, June 14, versus the St. Louis Cardinals. He finished with two runs scored and one RBI. The homer was his first since May 18.

Fantasy Tip: It's good to see Rasmus finally hit one out again, though it's definitely troublesome that this was also only his second home run since the end of April. The 29-year-old got out to a scorching start with seven homers in the season's first month, but has cooled off considerably since then. Even so, he still has a place on rosters in deeper leagues. Hopefully this gets him going again.

Astros | Carlos Correa, Colby Rasmus out Sunday

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 08:15:49 -0700

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa (ankle) and OF Colby Rasmus are not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore Sunday, June 12. INF Marwin Gonzalez will play shortstop and bat second, while OF Jake Marisnick starts in left field and bats ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez is batting .253 with four home runs and 13 RBI in 166 at-bats this year and can be viewed as a productive source of cap relief in DFS. Marisnick is batting just .187 with 28 strikeouts in 91 at-bats and is not a great fantasy option.

Astros | Colby Rasmus continues to scuffle

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 19:47:15 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus was hitless in three at-bats with a walk Saturday, June 11, against the Tampa Bay Rays to drop his season average to just .222.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus fired out of the chute in April, posting a respectable .263 average with seven homers and 19 RBIs, but he managed just one homer in May and is even worse in June. He has just three doubles and no homers with only four RBIs in 38 at-bats in the month. He is worth hanging onto in AL-only fantasy leagues, but mixed leaguers might want to look around for a replacement.

Astros | Colby Rasmus takes a seat

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 08:52:47 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus is out of the lineup Thursday, June 9, with OF Jake Marisnick hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick is hitting .179 and isn't much of an option against lefty Martin Perez today.

Astros | Colby Rasmus out vs. lefty

Tue, 31 May 2016 09:32:13 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks left-handed SP Patrick Corbin Tuesday, May 31. OF Jake Marisnick is starting in left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick did hit a homer the other day but otherwise is hitting an unimpressive .169 with two stolen bases. He's mainly attractive for his speed, but he doesn't move the fantasy needle much hitting low in the order, and he'll essentially move to a bench role again with Carlos Gomez back from the DL.
