Astros | Colby Rasmus belts seventh homer

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 22:52:35 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus belted a game-tying two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday, April 24, against the Boston Red Sox and CL Craig Kimbrel. It was his only hit in five at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus is up to seven home runs and he has amassed 18 RBIs with a week to play in the month of April. After bouncing around a little early in his career and failing to live up to expectations, he has finally found a home in Houston and he might just be scratching the surface.

Astros | Colby Rasmus batting fourth

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 17:00:48 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus will bat fourth against Boston Red Sox SP Henry Owens Sunday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus has just five at-bats against lefties this year, but as well as he has been swinging the bat, you can easily justify leaving him in your lineup despite the matchup.

Astros | Grand slam, five RBI for Colby Rasmus

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 17:17:07 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, five RBI, a run scored and a walk in an 8-3 win over the Boston Red Sox Saturday, April 23.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus hit a career-high 25 homers last year, and he is up to six this season in just 18 games. He usually sits against lefties, but his power upside makes him worth owning in just about every format. Just be prepared to swap him in and out of your lineup depending on the matchup.

Astros | Colby Rasmus launches a pair

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 20:36:07 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus went 2-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk in a 7-4 loss to the Texas Rangers Thursday, April 21.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus rarely starts against lefties, but his 25-homer upside makes him worth the daily lineup maintenance, especially in deeper mixed leagues and AL-only formats.

Astros | Luis Valbuena, Colby Rasmus out

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 14:31:33 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena and OF Colby Rasmus are not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers left-handed SP Derek Holland Tuesday, April 19. 3B Marwin Gonzalez is starting at third base and hitting seventh, while OF Jake Marisnick sees the start in left field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez had a nice spring but has only four hits in 19 at-bats to start the season. Still, he could be a successful sleeper option against a southpaw tonight. Marisnick's biggest asset is his speed, but he's unlikely to be able to use it much hitting ninth in the order.

Astros | Colby Rasmus hits third jack

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 23:51:50 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday, April 11, against the Kansas City Royals. He also struck out twice.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus has three homers and six RBIs over his past three outings. After some uneven years with St. Louis and Toronto, Rasmus appears to have found a home in Houston and he is a fantasy stud, finally living up to his immense potential.

Astros | Carlos Gomez will not start

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 10:06:28 -0700

Houston Astros OF Carlos Gomez is not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Jimmy Nelson Sunday, April 10. OF Colby Rasmus will start in center field and is batting fourth, while OF Preston Tucker is starting in left field and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus is off to a strong start this season and should be a starting candidate in all leagues. Tucker is also a solid option for owners since all four of his hits have gone for extra bases.

Astros | Colby Rasmus belts a pair

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 19:55:26 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in a 6-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday, April 9.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus is an all-or-nothing hitter that strikes out a lot but has power to spare. If you are going to take a chance on him in daily formats, using him against right-handed pitching is recommended.

Astros | Colby Rasmus, Preston Tucker sitting

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 13:41:15 -0700

Houston Astros OFs Colby Rasmus and Preston Tucker are out of the lineup Friday, April 8. The Astros lose the designated hitter in a National League park, and OF Jake Marisnick is starting in left field and hitting eighth against Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: Speed is Marisnick's biggest asset, and his power is intriguing, too. However, his plate skills must improve in order for him to find more consistent playing time. Until then, he's strictly an AL-only depth option.

Astros | Colby Rasmus makes hits count

Mon, 28 Mar 2016 18:59:06 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus entered play Monday, March 28, with a .273 average (9-for-33) with two doubles, three homers and a team-leading 13 RBIs while walking five times and striking out just six times.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus has had a decent spring and he is a solid middle- to late-round pick for depth in mixed fantasy formats, and a must-start AL-only play. He belted a career-high 25 homers with a .789 OPS in Houston last season. He did have a career-worst 154 strikeouts and a .238 average, so those areas can hurt fantasy owners. However, he has shown a much more discerning eye at the plate and that is cause for some excitement.
