Nationals | Yunel Escobar returns with a bang

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 19:58:37 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (wrist) went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored in a 9-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday, July 25, after missing the previous two games.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is hitting .325 on the year, and while he doesn't have a ton of upside, he does make a safe, solid source of cap relief at his position at FantasyScore most days thanks to his steady bat.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar returns

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 13:30:24 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (wrist) returned to the lineup Saturday, July 25, hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Esco ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is just 2-for-14 (.143) lifetime against A.J. Burnett, but he has a .321-5-30 line on the season. He's a decent buy on FantasyScore in the cleanup spot.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar does some drills

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 14:42:25 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (wrist) took some swings and fielded ground balls Friday, July 24, but his wrist is still sore, according to manager Matt Williams.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is considered day-to-day at this point, so owners should keep an eye out on when he will be able to return.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar remains out

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 12:53:29 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 24. 2B Dan Uggla is filling in at second base and batting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) continues to nurse a wrist injury, but manager Matt Williams said he was capable of pinch hitting Thursday, July 23, so don't expect Escobar out much longer. Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) went 0-for-4 during his start Thursday, and he remains nothing more than a risky flier for FantasyScore players.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar available to pinch hit

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 14:42:26 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar's (wrist) CT scan returned clean, and he is available to pinch hit against the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday, July 23, according to manager Matt Williams.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should return to the starting lineup sooner than later, which is good news for his seasonal owners. It isn't out of the question for FantasyScore players to avoid him for another a game or two, though.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar still out

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 13:30:44 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 23. 2B Dan Uggla enters the lineup at second base, and he is batting seventh against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) could miss a few games, so expect Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) to see playing time until Escobar or Anthony Rendon ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) return. View Uggla as a high-risk, high-reward FantasyScore option Thursday. He has just one hit over his past 22 plate-appearances, after all.

Nationals | X-rays negative for Yunel Escobar

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 13:46:09 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar's (wrist) X-rays on his wrist were negative, and he will undergo further tests, according to manager Matt Williams.

Fantasy Tip: Look for Dan Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) to receive some additional playing time, if Escobar ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is forced to miss any time. Uggla is nothing more than a desperation start in all fantasy formats, however, he does boast power upside. Anthony Rendon's ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) return is near, too, though. Continue to check back for updates.

Washington Nationals 2B Yunel Escobar (wrist) left the game Wednesday, July 22, with an apparent wrist injury.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar has three more hits

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 16:53:07 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a 3-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles Sunday, July 12, and he has 97 hits in 78 games this season.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has his average up to .321, and he makes a reliable mid-priced option at FantasyScore, especially against right-handed pitchers.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar back in the lineup

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 12:48:53 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hamstring) is playing third base and batting first against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman Friday, July 10.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) hasn't played since he was pulled from the game Monday, July 6, due to left hamstring tightness. While there is a degree of risk and Escobar is pricey, there is upside against Tillman, especially at the top of the lineup. View Escobar as an off-the-radar FantasyScore option Friday.
