|Nationals | Yunel Escobar hot in May|
Tue, 19 May 2015 05:42:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners should slide him into their daily lineups while he's hot. Consider him a cheap source of cap relief at Escobar's current asking price of just $2,100 (4.2% of cap), but his long-term value is in question.

|Nationals | Yunel Escobar on fire|
Tue, 12 May 2015 10:30:19 -0700
Washington Nationals 2B Yunel Escobar notched his second 5-for-5 performance this year Monday, May 11, becoming the first player in Nationals history with two five-hit games in one season. He's the first player to have two five-hit games in a week since Ichiro Suzuki in 2004. Escobar is now hitting .577 (15-for-26) in his last seven games, raising his average to .342, which is fifth-best in the National League. However, his last 24 hits have all been singles.
Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is as hot as they come right now, and it's hard not to like him as a value play at FantasyScore right now. His position atop the Nationals lineup has likely helped him stay hot at the plate. However, he doesn't have much power, and his playing time could take a big hit whenever Anthony Rendon (knee) returns. Escobar has shortstop eligibility in some standard leagues, making him even that much more valuable in the short term while he's going well.

|Nationals | Another career best for Yunel Escobar|
Tue, 12 May 2015 04:56:55 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) appears to be warming up at the plate. Part of his success has to be attributed to facing subpar pitching like Monday night, but Escobar is a viable start in daily formats at a low price like this.

|Nationals | Yunel Escobar well enough to play|
Mon, 11 May 2015 17:56:23 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,100; or 4.2% of cap) is a safe play for FantasyScore owners if he makes it through this game without any setbacks.

|Nationals | Yunel Escobar locked in|
Sat, 09 May 2015 19:40:44 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has doubled his season RBI total in his last five games, and if you want to gamble on a low-priced shortstop at FantasyScore, both he and the Nationals are playing well right now.

|Nationals | No timetable for Anthony Rendon|
Tue, 05 May 2015 09:02:12 -0700
Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon (oblique) will have his minor league rehab assignment shut down after being diagnosed with an oblique strain Monday, May 4. Manager Matt Williams said there is no timetable for Rendon's return, but said 2B Yunel Escobar sat out 10 days without baseball activity with the same injury in spring training.
Fantasy Tip: The waiting game continues for a player that was drafted at the end of the first round in many leagues this spring. Escobar ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) continues to benefit from a starting role at the hot corner in Rendon's absence, and Escobar is hitting .311 (28-for-90) with two home runs and seven RBI. Hitting near the top of the Nats' order has helped him, and he remains a fine FantasyScore option while he's hot. Escobar had five hits Monday night.

|Nationals | Career best for Yunel Escobar|
Mon, 04 May 2015 22:19:35 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Five hits is impressive, but they were all singles and not that great for FantasyScore players. Still, at just $2,100 (or 4.2% of cap) he easily exceeded salary expectations.

|Nationals | Yunel Escobar back in the lineup|
Thu, 30 Apr 2015 13:09:29 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) missed three games with the injury, and opposing pitcher Jacob deGrom is a tough matchup, so it might not be the best night to hone in on Escobar in FantasyScore contests. However, there is upside batting ahead of the heart of the order.

|Nationals | Ian Desmond dropped in order|
Thu, 30 Apr 2015 12:49:54 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Desmond ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) is not only struggling in the field (nine errors), but he's also hitting only .225 (20-for-89) with one home run and five RBI in the early going. A move down in the order again isn't likely to appeal to those playing at FantasyScore. He's a weaker shortstop option against New York Mets starter Jacob deGrom Thursday evening.

|Nationals | Yunel Escobar expected back Thu.|
Wed, 29 Apr 2015 18:03:18 -0700
Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hand) is available on an emergency basis Wednesday, April 29. He was able to hit and field grounders before the game and his hand looked better. Manager Matt Williams said he expects Escobar will be ready Thursday, April 30.
Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners will want to give Escobar ($2,100; 4.2% of cap) at least a game or two to prove his health before plugging him back into the lineup. Plus, it won't be easy for him since he'll be up against New York Mets SPs Jacob deGrom and Matt Harvey over the next two days if he does re-join the lineup Thursday.
