Nationals | Yunel Escobar to miss another game

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 09:36:20 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Yunel Escobar (hand) is not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Brad Hand Sunday, Aug. 30. 3B Anthony Rendon will start at third base, while 2B Danny Espinosa will start at second base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: There is no timetable for Escobar's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) return, so owners should continue to monitor the situation. Espinosa ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is hitting only .220 this month and is not a great option on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar still out

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 13:32:57 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hand) is not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Saturday, Aug. 29. 2B Anthony Rendon will start at third base, while 2B Danny Espinosa will start at second base and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: There is no timetable for Escobar's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) return, so owners should continue to monitor his recovery. Espinosa ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has three hits and three RBI in his last seven games, but owners on FantasyScore may be able to find better options.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar undergoes X-rays

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 14:49:57 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hand) underwent X-rays on his hand injury, but they came back negative. Manager Matt Williams said Escobar does not need more tests on the hand and will just need treatment.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has dealt with injuries over the last few weeks, so owners should continue to monitor his status.

Nationals | Trea Turner draws into the lineup

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 13:10:00 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Trea Turner is starting at second base and batting eighth against Miami Marlins SP Adam Conley Friday, Aug. 28. 3B Yunel Escobar is not in the starting lineup Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Turner ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) was just recalled to the Nationals and has gone 0-for-5 to start his career. Still, he isn't a bad flier for FantasyScore players Friday, as he opens up lots of cap space. Escobar ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) missed time recently with a neck injury, so he is likely just receiving the game off to rest.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar returns from injury

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 13:25:29 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (neck) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting fifth against San Diego Padres SP James Shields Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) mainly is a help in the average department for his fantasy owners, and you'll want to get him back into your lineups immediately. Waiting to use him on FantasyScore after his first game back from a neck injury could be the smart move, though.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar still out

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 09:50:21 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (head, thigh) is not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza Sunday, Aug. 23. 3B Anthony Rendon will start at third base and is batting second, while 2B Danny Espinosa will start at second base and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should continue to monitor the situation to see when Escobar ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) will be able to return to the lineup. Espinosa ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is hitting .231 with two home runs and four RBI this month and could be a cheaper option for owners.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar exits game early

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 17:23:06 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (head, thigh) left the game against the Milwaukee Brewers during the first inning Friday, Aug. 21, after suffering an apparent injury chasing a foul ball down the left-field line. Escobar bumped the wall with his left thigh as the ball dropped on the warning track and his head jerked back when it made contact with a fan's chest. He was examined by manager Matt Williams and a trainer before eventually being escorted towards the dugout. 2B Anthony Rendon moved over to play the hot corner, with INF Danny Espinosa entering the game to play second base.

Fantasy Tip: No update was immediately available on Escobar's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) condition. Check back for more information on his status.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar injured

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 16:07:20 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (undisclosed) was removed from the game early Friday, Aug. 21, after crashing into the railing in the first inning trying to catch a foul ball.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how serious of an injury it is, so check back for updates. Although Escobar ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) doesn't have much power, he's hit all year and should be owned everywhere. Danny Espinosa moved to second base and Anthony Rendon shifted to third. If Escobar has to miss time, perhaps Trea Turner, the team's prized shortstop prospect, could see significant playing time at second base for Washington.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar hitting cleanup

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 14:46:06 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar is batting fourth against Colorado Rockies SP David Hale Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has hit fourth the past three games, and he is a nice value play at FantasyScore Tuesday. He is also one of the few Nationals who has been a steady producer all season, so there is a chance he sticks in the cleanup spot. However, he hasn't been at his best in August and sports a .720 OPS, which is 42 points lower than his season-long mark.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar returns with a bang

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 19:58:37 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (wrist) went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored in a 9-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday, July 25, after missing the previous two games.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is hitting .325 on the year, and while he doesn't have a ton of upside, he does make a safe, solid source of cap relief at his position at FantasyScore most days thanks to his steady bat.
