Nationals | Yunel Escobar out Saturday

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 11:58:03 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hand) is not in the starting lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday, June 27. INF Danny Espinosa will start at the hot corner and bat third, with 2B Dan Uggla manning second base and batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is sidelined due to a swollen hand, so Espinosa ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) will slide over from the keystone position to cover third base. Uggla $1,900, 3.8% of cap) is only batting .231 this month and is not a great FantasyScore option.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar has swollen hand

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 19:11:33 -0700

Updating a previous report, preliminary X-rays for Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hand) came back negative, although his hand was swollen.

Fantasy Tip: It remains unknown how much time Escobar ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) will miss. INF Danny Espinosa ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) could see regular playing time at either second base or third base in the immediate future, as a result of 2B Anthony Rendon (quadriceps) landing on the disabled list Friday. If Escobar is also out for a while, 2B Dan Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) could see regular time at the keystone position, with Espinosa sliding over to the hot corner. Espinosa should be grabbed as infield depth in NL-only and deep mixed leagues, while Uggla only has value in NL-only leagues if he is guaranteed regular at-bats.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar injures hand

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 16:31:40 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (hand) was removed from the game early with a hand injury Friday, June 26. 2B Dan Uggla entered the game at second base, shifting 2B Danny Espinosa to the hot corner.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) appeared to be in quite a bit of pain after being hit by a pitch, but he remained in the game shortly before being removed. The Nats have been decimated by injuries recently, with Anthony Rendon (quadriceps) going on the DL today. Espinosa ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) will certainly be an everyday player with Rendon out, and Uggla ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) could become a starter, too, if Escobar's injury is serious. Espinosa is worth adding in deep mixed and NL-only leagues for middle infield depth, but Uggla should strictly be an NL commodity for desperate owners if Escobar goes on the DL, too.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar back in lineup

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 07:26:39 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Yunel Escobar (illness) is back in the starting lineup Sunday, June 21, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Escobar will hit second in the order against RHP Charlie Morton.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) had a 5-for-5 game Thursday, against the Tampa Bay Rays, then he went 1-for-4 Friday, against the Pirates. Escobar has continued to crush right-handed pitching this season, and he frequently outperforms his price.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar scratched Saturday

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 12:54:37 -0700

Washington Nationals INF Yunel Escobar (stomach) has been scratched from the starting lineup against the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday, June 20, because of a stomach bug. As a result, SS Ian Desmond will start at shortstop and bat seventh, with INF Danny Espinosa, who was originally scheduled to play shortstop, moving over to second base. OF Bryce Harper has been moved up to the No. 3 spot in the batting order, with C Wilson Ramos now batting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Escobar ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) from all fantasy lineups. Desmond ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) only has nine hits in 63 at-bats this month and should be avoided in FantasyScore.

Nationals | Five hits for Yunel Escobar

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 20:26:25 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar went 5-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in a 5-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday, June 18.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) just keeps hitting, and his average is up to .331 on the year. His steady bat and friendly price tag makes him a solid addition to FantasyScore lineups most nights.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar shifted to leadoff spot

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 13:30:29 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar is bating first and playing third base against Tampa Bay Rays SP Steven Geltz Wednesday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has been one of the most consistent hitters in the league this season, and he currently sports a five-game hitting streak and .322 batting average for the season. He stands as an excellent value play for FantasyScore players Wednesday, especially at his near-minimum cap hit.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar will be DH

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 15:06:52 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar will serve as the designated hitter against Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Colome Tuesday, June 16, and is batting third in the starting lineup. 3B Anthony Rendon will start at third base and is batting second, while 2B Danny Espinosa will start at second base and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has recorded at least one hit in seven of his last eight games and has RBI in that span. He could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore. Rendon ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has seven hits in his last six games and could be a staring option for owners. Espinosa ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is hitting .222 this month and may not be the best option for owners.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar hits two-run homer

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 07:35:04 -0700

Washington Nationals SS Yunel Escobar hit a two-run home run Saturday, June 13, against the Milwaukee Brewers and SP Jimmy Nelson.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is up to three home runs on the season, and he has a very impressive .319 batting average. Escobar doesn't offer much power or speed, but his 29 runs scored are a major asset and just four fewer than he had in 529 plate appearances last season.

Nationals | Clint Robinson, Danny Espinosa in lineup

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 14:05:11 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Clint Robinson is starting in left field and hitting sixth against New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka Tuesday, June 9. 2B Danny Espinosa is starting at second base and hitting ninth. 3B Yunel Escobar is serving as the designated hitter in an American League park tonight.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Espinosa ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) are strictly sleeper picks for the desperate in need of salary cap relief on FantasyScore. Espinosa has more offensive upside, but his position at the bottom of the lineup hurts his value.
