Mets | Kevin Plawecki taking day off

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 11:39:17 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 28. C Anthony Recker is starting behind the dish and hitting eighth in the batting order against Miami Marlins SP David Phelps.

Fantasy Tip: Recker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a weak FantasyScore selection today at FantasyScore, especially while residing at the bottom of New York's lineup.

Mets | Anthony Recker has bone spur

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 22:28:10 -0700

New York Mets C Anthony Recker (elbow) has a bone spur in the back of his right elbow, but the team said Wednesday, April 22, that Recker is able to play. The spur might be removed after the season.

Fantasy Tip: Recker sees occasional starts, and he is a solid FantasyScore value at $1,600 (or 3.2% of cap) when in the lineup. It won't take much to exceed salary expectations, and he'll save you plenty of money to spread across other more valuable positions.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud going on DL

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 09:05:48 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (hand) will be placed on the disabled list after fracturing his right hand Sunday, April 19, according to manager Terry Collins. C Kevin Plawecki will be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to take d'Arnaud's roster spot, and Plawecki will take over the starting catching duties, with C Anthony Recker as the backup. It's unknown how long d'Arnaud will be out until after he's examined by a hand specialist Monday, April 20.

Fantasy Tip: It's a shame for d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) owners, as he was off to a fine start in 2015. Plawecki will be making his major league debut for the Mets. He hit .309 with 11 home runs in 376 at-bats in multiple minor league stops in 2014. He'll be a cheap catching option at FantasyScore, but no more than a dice roll as he acclimates to big league pitching.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud sitting vs. Fish

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 13:09:52 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud is not in the starting lineup against the Miami Marlins Friday, April 17. C Anthony Recker is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) from your fantasy lineups Friday. Recker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is nothing more than a low-priced flier, and hitting in front of the pitcher does him no favors. FantasyScore players should likely aim higher.

Mets | Could keep Taylor Teagarden as backup catcher

Sat, 12 Jul 2014 10:22:55 -0700

The New York Mets could decide to keep C Taylor Teagarden (hamstring) as their backup catcher after his rehab assignment is over because C Anthony Recker still has an option remaining. Teagarden would have to clear waivers and accept an assignment to Triple-A Las Vegas to remain in the organization if the Mets keep Recker.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud demoted

Sun, 08 Jun 2014 10:05:34 -0700

The New York Mets have optioned C Travis d'Arnaud to Triple-A Las Vegas. In a corresponding move, C Taylor Teagarden has been recalled from Las Vegas.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud, the team's Opening Day backstop, was hitting .180 with three homers and nine RBIs and was 3-for-26 since returning from a concussion. Teagarden is expected to split time behind the plate with Anthony Recker. Neither catcher is a viable fantasy option as long as they remain in a timeshare.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud won't return Wednesday

Tue, 20 May 2014 14:12:33 -0700

Updating a previous item, New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (concussion) will not return from the 7-day concussion disabled list when he's eligible Wednesday, May 21, because he's still having concussion-related symptoms during workouts. "He's still feeling the effects of the initial impact," general manager Sandy Alderson said, "so at this point I don't have a real good prognosis on when he will be back. But at this point, as he exercises, he still experiences some symptoms. As a result, we're still in the recovery period." Cs Anthony Recker and Juan Centeno will continue to share the catching duties in the meantime.

Fantasy Tip: With concussions, a player's timetable for a return is usually cloudy. Continue to hold d'Arnaud but know that this could be a long-term injury.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud heading to DL

Thu, 15 May 2014 13:41:43 -0700

The New York Mets will place C Travis d'Arnaud (concussion) on the 7-day concussion disabled list Thursday, May 15. C Juan Centeno is being called up from the minors, and he'll start Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Anthony Recker and Centeno will split the catching duties, with Recker likely seeing the majority of the starts behind the dish. Concussions are tricky, so there is no telling if d'Arnaud will return in just a week .
