Athletics | Rich Hill hopeful for Sunday

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 23:45:22 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (finger) is hopeful to return Sunday, July 31. He has not started since July 17 due to a persistent blister. He was able to throw a bullpen session with tape over the blister Tuesday, July 26, after playing catch with it uncovered.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has had his name bandied about in trade rumors and he could be dealt by the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. Fantasy owners will want to keep him reserved until his situation becomes more certain.

Athletics | Rich Hill's finger healing

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 13:53:23 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (finger) said he still has "a little hot spot" on his left middle finger, but he is healing.

Fantasy Tip: The A's are being careful not to run Hill back too soon since he's a valuable trade chip before the Aug. 1 deadline. His 2.25 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 10.7 K/9 plays in all leagues, but there is no timetable for his return to the mound. Stay patient with the talented left-hander.

Athletics | Rich Hill set for bullpen

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 06:28:25 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (finger) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Hill is a must-stash hurler given his 2.25 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 10.7 K/9. He's a ripe trade candidate, and a relocation to a better ball team should provide a fantasy boost for Hill.

Athletics | Rich Hill plays catch

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 16:30:24 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (finger) played catch for a second straight day Thursday, July 21, but there's still no timetable for when he'll be back on the mound.

Fantasy Tip: Hill doesn't look to be close to a return, and that can be a problem since the A's might want to trade him before the Aug. 1 deadline. He should remain universally stashed with his stellar 2.25 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 10.7 K/9, however. Stay tuned for more updates on his timeline for a return.

Athletics | Rich Hill doubtful for Sunday

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 11:25:25 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (finger) is doubtful to be ready to start Sunday, July 24, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Fantasy Tip: The A's are being cautious with their 36-year-old left-hander, who is a trade candidate this summer. His blister injury isn't serious, but it could affect his pitching if he returns too soon. Hill has been phenomenal for his owners with a 2.25 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 10.7 K/9 this year, although he may have already peaked in 2016.

Athletics | Rich Hill not a DL candidate

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 16:24:46 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (finger) is not a candidate to land on the disabled list at this point, but the Athletics are waiting to see how the skin on his finger heals before committing to his next start.

Fantasy Tip: The good news is it's a minor injury for Hill and not related to the groin injury that landed him on the DL not too long ago. Still, his blister could affect him in his next outing if it doesn't properly heal. The veteran lefty has had a fine year with a 2.25 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 10.7 K/9, but he's got a lengthy injury history and may have already reached his peak in 2016. A trade to a contender is possible and could boost his fantasy value.

Athletics | No timetable for Rich Hill

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 16:18:15 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (hand) does not have a timetable for his next start.

Fantasy Tip: While the lefty Hill has been fantastic this year when healthy (2.25 ERA, nine wins, 1.09 WHIP and 10.7 K/9), he's struggled to stay healthy recently, and you likely missed your chance to sell high in fantasy. Still, he should remain owned everywhere because of his swing-and-miss stuff, and his value could be boosted with a trade to a contender.

Athletics | Sean Manaea forced into action

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 17:02:25 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Sean Manaea allowed two runs on three hits in five innings of relief against the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday, July 17, after SP Rich Hill (blister) and RP Andrew Triggs (calf) were forced to exit.

Fantasy Tip: The relief appearance will push back Manaea's next scheduled start. He has been pitching well of late and should be owned in AL-only formats.

Athletics | Rich Hill forced from start Sunday

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 13:52:25 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (blister) was removed from the game after making five pitches against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, July 17, after the blister on his left hand that led to him getting scratched from his last start popped.

Fantasy Tip: Hill is arguably the best starting pitcher known to be on the market leading up to the trade deadline, so this hurts Oakland in more than one way. The resurgent 36-year-old will almost certainly miss at least one start, meaning general managers may have to go off what they have seen over the first three-plus months of the season. Hill has emerged as a must-start in 2016, but he can obviously be benched for now.

Athletics | Rich Hill scratched from Friday start

Thu, 14 Jul 2016 14:48:59 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (blister) was scratched from his start Friday, July 15, due to a blister.

Fantasy Tip: That's pretty unfortunate, as Hill just recently returned from a stint on the disabled list that cost him all of June, and in his two starts since, it looked like he had never even left. In fact, he struck out a season-high-tying 10 batters his last time out. Hopefully this current ailment only costs him the one start and nothing more. The rest of the A's rotation might get moved up a day as a result.
