Athletics | Rich Hill to return Saturday

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 17:08:31 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (groin) said he will start against the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday, July 2.

Fantasy Tip: The A's have been cautious with the 36-year-old lefty, but they'd like to see him make some successful starts before the trade deadline, as he's a popular trade target. Hill has been great with an 8-3 record, 2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings. Tread carefully using him immediately off the DL against the Bucs, though, and consider high a risk-reward starter this weekend.

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 23:23:25 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (groin) is scheduled to make his first rehab start at Class A Stockton Monday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: Hill may need three rehab starts or so before returning. Keep him stashed in all formats.

Athletics | Rich Hill to throw Sunday

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 16:02:02 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (groin) will throw off a mound again Sunday, June 19, but he'll be brought along slowly since he already had one setback with his groin, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Fantasy Tip: Hill's rehab has been slow to develop after he had a setback with his groin injury. He'll likely need a short rehab assignment before returning, but he should be stashed everywhere because of his great season thus far (2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 10.4 K/9).

Athletics | Rich Hill not close

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 16:23:21 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (groin) is not close to throwing off a mound and will probably be unable to do so for another week, according to manager Bob Melvin.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has put up great numbers this year with a 2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 10.4 K/9, but his rehab from a pulled groin is going very slowly, and you likely missed your chance to sell high in fantasy. The A's may find it tough to trade him this summer, too, if he can't prove his health soon. While it may be tough for Hill to be this good the rest of the year, his strikeout upside remains attractive in all fantasy leagues. Stay patient.

Athletics | Rich Hill won't throw for a week

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 14:14:09 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (groin) will not throw for a week while on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: That probably means Hill won't be ready to come off the DL when he's eligible in 15 days. You've missed your chance to sell high on the impressive 36-year-old lefty, but he should remain stashed in all leagues after he's posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a nice 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings. He's a trade candidate this summer, too, which would further boost his value.

Athletics | Rich Hill put on DL

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 10:49:49 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (groin) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, June 9. The move is retroactive to May 30.

Fantasy Tip: The 36-year-old Hill has been fantastic this year with a 2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings, and he should remain stashed in all leagues. The injury doesn't appear serious, so he could be ready to go when he's eligible. Kendall Graveman will start this weekend against the Reds in Hill's place, but the right-hander is only a desperation add in AL-only leagues.

Athletics | DL likely for Rich Hill

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 15:25:49 -0700

Updating a previous report, Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (groin) is likely to be placed on the disabled list, manager Bob Melvin said Wednesday, June 8.

Fantasy Tip: Reiterating a previous tip, Hill should be stashed in all fantasy formats after his exceptional start to the season. He'll undergo an MRI exam soon, which should provide a clearer picture of the severity of his injury. Check back for updates.

Athletics | Rich Hill won't pitch this weekend

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 15:06:27 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (groin) pulled his groin during a bullpen session Wednesday, June 8, and he will return to Oakland, Calif., to undergo an MRI exam. Hill will not pitch against the Cincinnati Reds Saturday, June 11.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has returned sterling fantasy numbers this season with a 2.25 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP and a 10.4 K/9. However, this nagging groin injury has kept Hill out since Sunday, May 29. Stash Hill until you know the severity of the ailment. Stay tuned for updates.

Athletics | Rich Hill likely for Saturday

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 15:37:34 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (groin) is likely to start against the Cincinnati Reds Saturday, June 11, but he'll need to throw a pain-free bullpen session first Wednesday, June 8.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has been a revelation for fantasy owners that used a late-round pick on him. The 36-year-old lefty has a sparkling 2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and is striking out 10.4 hitters per nine innings. It's understandable to be cautious in using him following his groin injury, but the Reds are a fine matchup if he does return Saturday.

Athletics | Rich Hill to miss another start

Sat, 04 Jun 2016 19:35:25 -0700

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (groin) will miss one more start before returning sometime next weekend during a series with the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has been a revelation this year, and whenever he is able to return, he should be plugged back into fantasy lineups.
