Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter explained why the team moved OF Nolan Reimold (neck) to the 60-day disabled list Monday, April 7. "He had not resumed baseball activities and after talking to Boland and everybody,m we thought May 29 was very reasonable by the time he got through everything. It was nothing new that I'm aware of," Showalter said.

The Baltimore Orioles are preparing OF Nolan Reimold (neck) to play in extended spring training games. He is expected to play outfield every day and is progressing nicely in his rehab. He is able to hit without having pain or stiffness in his neck, but he hasn't been as comfortable looking up and chasing fly balls.

Updating a previous item, Baltimore Orioles OF Nolan Reimold (neck) has not experienced a setback, but he hasn't been able to play the outfield comfortably since having surgery to fuse two vertebrae in his neck in January. He can hit without restrictions but has some problems tilting his head to track fly balls. Manager Buck Showalter said Reimold is "light years ahead" of where he's been in the past. Reimold starting on the DL increases the chances that OFs Steve Pearce and Delmon Young make the active roster.

Baltimore Orioles OF Nelson Cruz is expected to be the team's primary designated hitter this season. He hit .266 with 27 home runs and 76 RBIs in 109 games last season with the Texas Rangers before serving a 50-game suspension for his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal.
Fantasy Tip: The ability to serve as a full-time DH should help Cruz stay healthy for the majority of the season. It could also take valuable at-bats away from Nolan Reimold if he's not playing every day in the outfield.
