Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez out vs. lefty

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 15:25:16 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays left-handed SP Blake Snell Tuesday, July 19. OF Brandon Barnes is starting in right field and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Car-Go is taking a breather in the lefty-lefty matchup. Barnes is a career .244 hitter in five seasons and doesn't have much offensive upside aside from some speed. He's a deep sleeper that isn't very attractive in daily formats, especially hitting near the bottom of the order.

Rockies | Trevor Story not in lineup Sunday

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 07:55:00 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story, 1B Mark Reynolds, OF Ryan Raburn and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran Sunday, July 17. INF Daniel Descalso will play first base and bat fifth, INF Cristhian Adames will start at shortstop and bat sixth, OF Brandon Barnes will hit seventh and play left field and C Tony Walters will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Of the four replacements in Sunday's lineup, Descalso has been the most productive at the plate this season, batting .333 with two home runs and 18 RBI through 72 at-bats. Adams, Barnes and Wolters should be viewed as nothing more than inexpensive fliers in DFS.

Colorado Rockies 2B Daniel Descalso is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Zach Eflin Sunday, July 10. OF Brandon Barnes will start in left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Barnes is hitting only .214 with two RBI over the last seven days and is not a great fantasy option for owners.

Rockies | Daniel Descalso starting vs. Phils

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 13:44:34 -0700

Colorado Rockies 2B Daniel Descalso is starting in left field and is batting sixth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Vincent Velazquez Friday, July 8. OF Brandon Barnes will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: The utility infielder Descalso has had a hot run at the plate of late that has earned him more playing time. That certainly won't last, though, as he owns a career slash line of .243/.315/.346 in seven years. Descalso is taking hacks at Coors Field tonight, but he remains more of a deep sleeper in DFS.

Rockies | Three Colorado starters not playing

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 12:33:42 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story (finger), OF Ryan Raburn and 1B Mark Reynolds are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brandon McCarthy Sunday, July 3. 2B Daniel Descalso will start at first base and is batting fifth. SS Cristhian Adames will start at shortstop and is batting seventh, while OF Brandon Barnes will start in left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso is hitting .385 with four RBI over the last seven days and could be a sleeper option in daily fantasy leagues. Barnes is also an option for owners because he has played well over the last week. Adames can be avoided in most leagues.

Rockies | Three-hit game for Brandon Barnes

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 22:32:14 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Brandon Barnes went 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI Monday, June 27, against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Fantasy Tip: Barnes has a pair of three-hit games over the past three outings, and he is worth using in NL-only fantasy leagues and DFS as a salary saver option while hot.

Rockies | Carlos Gonzalez out with an injury

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 14:21:44 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 24. OF Brandon Barnes is starting in left field and batting eighth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Archie Bradley Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Stash Gonzalez in all fantasy formats and check back for updates on the severity of his injury. He's got 48 runs, 15 home runs, 38 RBI and a .310/.355/.542 slash line, after all. Barnes is 7-for-41 with a .496 OPS this season, but the game is in Coors Field, so he is a potential low-priced flier in daily contests Friday.

Rockies | COL makes several lineup changes

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 08:30:44 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Ryan Raburn, 1B Mark Reynolds and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Sunday, June 19. INF Daniel Descalso will bat sixth and play first base, OF Brandon Barnes will bat seventh and play left field and C Tony Wolters will start behind the plate and hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Descalso is 13-for-32 (.406) with a double, triple, home run and 11 RBI through 32 at-bats this season and is an excellent source of salary cap relief in DFS. Wolters is worth considering as an inexpensive flier behind the plate but Barnes should be avoided in all fantasy formats today.

Rockies | Colorado sitting two starters

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 12:38:36 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Ben Paulsen and C Tony Wolters are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Alex Wood Sunday, April 24. OF Gerardo Parra will start in left field, while OF Brandon Barnes will start in center field and is batting first. C Dustin Garneau will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Barnes is hitting .286 so far this season with three of his six hits being extra base hits. Barnes could be a cheap sleeper option in some daily fantasy leagues. Garneau has gone 2-for-7 at the plate this season but is not a great fantasy option.
